I've lived in Altoona for most of my life, but I've never rode that roller coaster. I mean sure they repaired it (I think it wasn't running for a while), but I just can't get over the fact that it's over 100 years old...
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR SHOW! Very cool. I got hooked on the Stull, Kansas bit. I'm a big history buff and find shows like this to be amazing. I always travel to find cool old places no one has seen in years. Your show is very professionally well made. I don't usually comment on videos on YouTube, but you have my admiration.
Pretty funny vid. I've lived a stones throw away from that pile of kindling all my life. The park was pretty cool long ago, but its getting a little old. The only thing that keeps it going is dollar days, lights on the lake, and the little fair. Altoona is still pretty cool though.
I had no idea that it was the World's Oldest until I saw this...that's pretty cool. I guess it helps put Altoona on the map...because we're not known for much else except for the railroad boom...
And Sheetz's. I've heard they spread into the Carolinas. Strangely for the Sheetz's city, we only have ONE Sheetz in downtown Altoona, on 14th avenue just a block up from the Penn Alto Hotel.
Well, we got the supersheetz on 17th street, the new one going up across from Roosevelt, the one an Plank road across from the cadillac dealership, and the one on 58th street..those are like..the nearest ones in the city...
We also have one on Lloyd Street, one in Juniata, and one on Broad Avenue. I just think it's weird that we only have one in the downtown proper, though.
