@sweetpea3211 I built it tonight. You don't need anything to attach it, just take one side of the rubberband in each hand & put it around the rear axle. Then, put 1 end of the rubberband through the hole in the other end, which basically "ties" the rubberband around the axle. Kinda like if you've ever tied two rubberbands together, you do the same thing to get the rubberband around the axle.

But, u have to make sure it stays tight when u wind, if not, reverse the rubberband tie around the axle.

@sweetpea3211 Or, oh....I think maybe u were asking not about attaching the rubberband to the axle, but to the front of the car? If so, it goes on the stainless steel "handle" part of the clip on the front of the car. That's why u take that metal part out, so u can put the rubberband on the stainless steel "handle", then put it back into the clip & presto, it holds your rubberband at the front while u wind it up with the back shaft or wheels. Hope this helps, just finished helping my daughter!

@thewatcommenter measure 7/8th of an inch over, then cut up 1 and 1/2 inch, then cut 1 inch over then the 1 and 1/2 back to the edge of the paper. Where you end that cut should be 7/8th of an inch from the opposite side that you started on.

Hi again...Just wanted to add, I used drink coasters for wheels but glued together x2 for each of the wheels and once dry, poked a hole in the middle and put dowel (stick) axle through the hole (only about 1/4 inch or 5mm) and hot glued outside and inside of coaster...made the wheels super strong...

And I added split pin cut down and attached to back axle to catch elastic on...(elastic used is one between the clips stretched back and wound up).

I also used a manila folder for the body =) thnx

I made this car tonight for my 8 yr old's school project, to test it out and.....it was excellent!! Went at least 4 metres!! Thanks so much for the idea and info...

I did add a little metal clip to dowel that you wind the elastic on, makes it easier to have something to catch it on and wind up...Thanks...=)

Thanks for the instructions. Instead of paper clips 3 "popsicle" sticks, placed in the middle (length wise of the paper) and one in each crease and one in the middle. Instead of pencils I used 2 sticks on each side. For wheels, I tried the CDs and did not work; I bought some wooden wheels at Michael's (less than $5). The problem with them is they have no grip. So, for the rear ones, I placed a strip of the "felt" Velcro around it and then I placed a rubber band on top of it. Now it cooks!!
