  • We used to have one of these until the motor on it burnt out. :-( I like the way it 'floats' along the floor.

.....If you had a longer power cord on it and took it to an Ice Rink, you could do Curling with it. :-D

  • They need to bring this thing back!

  • @rednes800 They did, for some time. There was a modern, stainless steel version available until fairly recently. You can probably still find one on Ebay.

  • Yes

  • Has anyone noticed how quiet older vacuums are compared to the newer ones??

  • This is the future......so why do all the vacuums have boring wheels....

  • hoover has the coolest vacuums ever :D

  • AWESOME! Look at that thing float! Is it supposed to do that?

  • Yep, it was part of the design for the Constellation series.

  • 2000 Watts !! Are you sure? No wonder it floats, it should be capable of flight with that sort of power..:)

  • LOL yes I am sure. It is extremely powerful (but that is what 50 years or so of modernisation does for you).

  • i would like to find a old viking. the ones that look like the electrolux models from the 80s

  • i have one of those, mint condition with all the attachments, an electrolux model xxx from 1948, and a hoover model 36 from 1956.

  • WOW QUITE WHAT OTHER VACS HAVE YA GOT

  • nice vacuum! i have an an early 80's electrolux canister vac. i needs new attachments and restoration work.

  • i think the new ones are pretty quiet. you hear more of wooshing sound like countkostaki says. they also have a motorized power head now which makes them better at grooming carpets.

  • a vacuum cleaner is basaly a blower intakeing at a hose or cleaning housing and outtakeing

in a canvis or paper bag for all the junk

    it intakes.

  • duh i know how a vacuum works. ive been taking them apart since i could walk

  • They are much quieter than the traditional Constellation - more like a "whooshing" sound. The Constellation has the exhaust outlet just as a offset exit hole to one side of the underside of the cleaner. The new Sattelite ones have air exhaust holes all around the underside making it far superior floatation.

  • I have the updated model - it's made by Hoover-Maytag and they call it the Sattelite. It's 2000watts - but apart from being black and stainless steel in design it's exactly the same as your one. I hope it will last just as long as the one you have! Good to see you keep it in working order.

  • How quiet are the new ones? I've thought about getting one myself.
