Generally I paint at around 300 res. approx. 3600 pixels at the smallest in length or width. I'll paint on a new layer if I feel I'm doing something that I may want to quickly change, and once I'm happy with it I'll flatten it to keep from killing my computer.
oh ! how did you do that effect that you draw one piece of the windmill nad then let id duplicate clockwise ???? would appreciate it SO much if you answer this
o,o I love how you gave the pic space to breath and then added those nice creative ideas ! the cows are the money man ^^ do yu work on very high res ? because I wonder hwo you can draw souch smooth shapes at the cow without getting jagged brushes nor blurred outlines. all very teaching and FUN as well ^^

create a blank layer in photoshop
do a drawing of a shape or anything
then select the shape
and hold down alt+ctrl+t
and that should copy/transform
and then use the transform tool to move it to the right, shrink a little and rotate a little or anything you want.
then do shift+alt+ctrl+t
and it should repeat
so hold down shift+alt+ctrl and just keep hitting t
