It has two МС-227 140mm multiple rocket launchers

and two AK-630 gatling 30mm autocannons

Plus it has 8 Igla missiles for AA defense

On wikipedia it said 4 x Quad Igla launchers. but I can't find any pictures showing the SAM positions.

Those 30mm cannon are in the same class as the A-10's gun. Plus those rockets could probably sink anything up to cruiser size. It can take care of itself. But the Igla are a little light. The SA-19 or SA-11 might be a better fit.

How far inland can this go? Or can it only beach itself?

Zubr will not act alone in real action - it would have some aircover from other ships with heavy SAMs

And Zubr can go anywhere on plain terrain in case if needed.

True, it's just that if I were the Captain, I'd want to have something w/ more range in case anything gets through. By the time you get a lock w/ an igla, The plane already fired it's own weapon.

The terrain thing is interesting. At 500 tons, the Zubr is one of the largest 'Land' vehicles in the world. Certainly a good example to show to those who think the 1,000 tonne Ratte was a bad idea.

it's not a hovercraft but a "surface effect ship" - similar craft were (or are) used in japan for tourism if i remember rightly. they use the principle that air trapped between the hull of a ship and the water reduces friction, but stability and energy efficiency comes from non-complete hovering.

LCAC is unarmed and cargo bay is completely in the open. These two craft are as heavily armed as patrol boats, and carry a small assault force complete with a tank or two. US doesn't have any good light tanks either, only the monster M-1 which the LCAC pretty much can carry just one. Russians have the yanks and brits beat when it comes to hovercraft. SRN4 was a car ferry, unarmed. Dunno if these things have any armor at all.

I think it would fill a niche that no other vechicle can fill however in some regions of the world (large marsh, swamp, arctic, etc). I just have to wonder about how cost effective it is compared to simply using more conventional assets (helos, etc).

It can literally rush enemy defences and deliver tanks [which cant be transported by helos] and other heavy equipment and land them directly inland or onto a beach.

It is large no doubt but it fills a role for countries with large maritime assests and islands.

It has Anti-Air defences inplace and packs a punch.Can directly engage land targets and sea borne targets.

Rather effective for Beach assaults and the like.Even Relief after a tsunami and such.
