Reagan talked the talk, but he only walked about half the walk. Nonetheless he was still the best president in at least the last 48 years (besides Clinton, of course).
I'm glad Reagan was so blatantly honest, and wish modern presidents would be so honest. I realize, from this, that, as a sandwich generation member, I grew up my whole life in one big, continuing financial crisis.
Don't forget that during Reagan the deficit bloomed out of control. He raised the National Debt by 186%, still a record in percentage terms, followed by George W. at 105%. Add George Sr.'s debt at 54.4% and the total for the 12 Republican years adds up to around 275%.
I never saw more Christmas presents under the tree than after his eight years in office fixing the budget. Clinton rode the coat tails of everything Reagan built up. Shame Bush 1 and 2 couldn't be as conservative.
@alaskangunner Clinton rode the coat tails of the the tech boom (Internet bubble) and the housing boom (bubble) that Greenspan created NOT Ronald. Least not you forget we had a recession under Bush 1. The bill has finally come due for the massive deficit spending which kicked off under Ronald. Despite what he says in this video, he doubled the deficit and it was his military spending that did it. You got your Christmas, but American is paying for some stupid fiscal policies.
Textbook genius from the Master himself. This should be mandatory viewing for every college student kissing the a$% of the Anointed One. Reagan would NEVER have monetized our economy to render false hope to the working man.
You are too right, at this point I would remove all objections to human cloning if it meant we can get a RR clone in office to straighten this mess out.
A trillion dollars, "a figure that's literally beyond our comprehension." Well, it's not beyond our comprehension now in the 21st Century, not in the era of "Hope and Change". Perhaps the Most Enlightened among us are right, that the Era of Reagan is over. And with it has also passed the Era of Morality and Common Sense. God Help Us All!

The situation in 1981 mirrors so closely our present economic problems that it is eery.
Unfortunately we don't have Reagan in the White House.

We had to have Carter before we got Reagan, so have faith (and be sure to vote in 2012!).

@clorine888: The situation today does not mirror the troubles in 1981, but having Reagan in the White House would be better
