this is what Kids need, and it makes my heart just turn upside down with joy to see that, being a music major (with choral emphasis) it's something thats so inspiring. we were actually just conducting this song in conducting class, which is why I u-tubed it after words. agreed. this was recorded before the guitar version, so the kids didn't know the song as well. we also dropped the key a step for the guitar version, which made it much easier for them to sing. :)

Kind of a cheap response...train as you perform.  Have you talked to the kids that look like they dont want to be there? Perhaps it was just a bad day for some of them. Do you teach the appreciation along with the actual music?

That said...they are good and you are doing a great job. You are probably underpaid and under appreciated, just those of us in the military.

ouch. and thanks -- respectively..... don't mean to be 'cheap' in my response. just very busy, and that was the quick answer. to elaborate, my #1 priority is that i create an environment that is comfortable for them to express emotionally. being physically comfortable plays in to that. making 10 year olds stand for an hour long rehearsal is self-defeating. these kids achieve their BEST performances while sitting. don't ask me why. if i had to speculate, i'd say it's cuz they're comfortable

I've been going back and forth, listening to the Coldplay original and your version, and I've got to say--I favor the choral version. Is just seems to lend the grandness that the lyrics speak of.

I am in a chorus class at my school,

it is a compilation of 6th 7th and 8th graders.

It is a class of about 16 kids and my chorus teacher was telling us about this.

She said it would pretty amazing and it IS!

We are singing this same song. I love how into it they are and how passionate about this song they are when there singing and it really shows :D
