I saw this video when it was first being played on MTV. I went out the next day and bought the album on cassette tape. Back then, you could get clued into a lot of really good music from watching MTV. I discovered Guns 'N Roses the same way. That was not long before the first Gulf War. As you can imagine, I'm pretty old.
Dude me and Bobby used to hang out at a mall in our kid days.I did photos of Backwoods his band after Slab. He's a really great guy(Aside from going to Cedar Ridge)!
@herbertkearse the lead guitar player mark middleton is a friend of mine he plays in a band in johnstown pa called the desperados he is a great guy and a great player.
A 4 guitar onslaught of rock with an intelligent inlay of slide guitar throughout with a pounding drum beat, makes this one of the best rock songs from the late 80's early 90's rock that saw so many fantastic and talented bands.
First heard this band when passing through Dallas Tx. on the "New Zoo Review". I brought it back to Louisiana to Laboucherie then on to my bar Center Stage.
Kory Clarke was suppossed to be the drummer in this band. Raging Slab was a kind of southern rock band to me, I mean in the 80's a hard time for the genre
i actually saw a gibson that was shaped like the united states in a music store by my house about 20 years ago. i remembered the guitar from seeing this video on headbanger's ball.
RULES!!!!! .........But, too bad that getting tagged with the description, "Lynyrd Skynyrd Meets Metallica", basically set the bar too high and screwed the band!
Would have been close to that for me, except that I actuall;y found it on a great Metal compilation in the late 90's that also featured "Scared" by Dangerous Toys, "Someone Like You" by Bang Tango (ok, not the best there) and many others. I'd look for it on Amazon or iTunes.
I remember Adam Curry mentioning when he first showed this video back in September 1989 that the monster truck blew up after going over that hill at the end. Unfortunately, after just a few plays of this truly kick-ass song, the peroxided douche declared "the hype [about this band] is over!" He never played it again, and that was the last time I ever saw them on EMPTY-V, or anywhere else on television, for that matter.
Great Tune,5 Stars !!! I remember seeing them live. They had free BBQ at the show in Dallas,Tx.. Great music, bad ass BBQ, and cold beer. Hell Yeah !!!
If one crossed Metallica and Lynard Skynard, Raging Slab would be the outcome. I love this band, and still have cassette tapes of them. A very under-rated band, indeed. "Don't Dog me" is one of my favorites. Also like "Sorry's All I Got." Great f**king Band! Rock on, Guys!
My band opened for these guys at Fitzgeralds in Houston back in the day. The posters and paper said, "Lynyrd Synyrd meets Metalica!" They were good the lead guitarist had some kewl guitars, one was shaped like Texas I think. Anyway, They rocked!
Bo fucking Bice???Come on man..Dixie Witch and Ssuperheavygoatass blow everyone you mentioned right out of the water! Not to mention about 40 other bands I could think of right now.
Raging Slab was one of those great bands that most people just didnt get. Unfortunate as this is a very talented band, listen to "I heard the Owl" if you need a crash course in rock and roll.
Great band! Even better for me, I went to the same school Greg and his wife attended and I get to hang out with Mark Middleton and his band (Desperados) in my hometown. Great guy, another great band too!
This is a rockin song!! I remember when it came out but they never play it on the radio anymore. Classic rock like this definitely rules! I'd love to get their stuff.
don't miss it anymore..good new bands are on the road now..check The Answer, Wolfmother, The Steepwater Band, Stonerider, (new album of) Bo Bice, Heaven's Basement...rock n roll is back!
debut album an absolute classic.
