overlock is an action that increasing your VIDEO CARD GPU performance, it's can be used also for pc's proccessor, actually really overlocked VIDEO CARD GPU are much better and very effective then that one, overlock is not an progress used by hackers or something, it's from the company! but if you have one video card that already overlocked, that i'm not advicing you to do that again! if your video card is not overlocked so you can try to overlock, but beware!

or you could look at it like this; overclock your graphics card a little, too much and its fried.

I found in software overclocking find the maximum without error then lower it by about 10 to 20 mhz for stability generally the maximum will work but can cause crashes under a full load so try and bring it down a little this applys to cpu over clocking also i can get my 2.2ghz cpu to 2.6 without error but my stability suffers i run at 2.5ghz for safety sake

@harishotickamicak951 not true there's firmware/bios updates out there that allow you to overclock. i did it with my Nvidia chip-set on my old P4 board and it did alot, but got really hot! i put a fan on it and it was better till i blew it up lol. i had about 40% on its original speed, then the fan got a little dusty and it popped... literally lol. it was a very crude 6% at a time selection for the stepping.

If Rivatuner in any way doesn't cooperate (missing drivers, license certificates/whatever) you can download eVGA Precision.

Same shit, it's just way smaller and more flexible imho.

Rivatuner has more options though, but Precision is handy for only OCing your GPU.

@XraYSniPerClan If you have Intel graphics cards you can't do anything but if you have nvidia or ati graphics cards then go to their website and find the latest driver for ONLY YOUR CARD not any other card only yours then see if it fixes the problem.

HD4890 is like a gtx275 or maybe like 280 with overclock.

then, when i play pes2010, the gameplay was a bit different(quite inconsistent speed) but acceptable. The worst is: the replay when you score goals. ITs like you press the forward 8x button when you play dvd.

Overclocking is good if you know where to stop besides I got warranty and I'll just tell hp that it overheated. Also get a cooling fan it will reducde the heat. Also can this work on windows 7?

@Muscleby The M series are laptop gfx chips right? You don't want to overclock a laptop at all mate! Desktop graphics cards have MASSIVE coolers ontop to deal with the heat. In a laptop there's no possible way for it to deal with more heat from overclocking.
