Rener seemed to be pumped the fuck up during this instruction! Super fast instruction! LOL:D And, I notice these Gracies (Rener, Ralek, Ryron) seem to be fans of leg locks unlike a lot of the BJJ community. I'd assume since they are more "self defense oriented" instead of basing their system on the rules of the IBJJF. I strongly disagree with fellow blue belts not training these kind of techniques since they are IBJJF legal. And, that is how we train it "live" at our academy.
Always amazes me, the way the explanation is so detailed and easy to follow. Excellent vid! Just hope it works when facing an opponent as skilled as Sakuraba. Such as when he defeated Royce Gracie, though the advantage of jiu jitsu was still visible during that match. "The Jiu-jitsu that i created was designed to give the weak ones a chance to face the heavy & the strong" -Grand Master Helio Gracie
@sad18240 you mean like in high school? The could easily make it a P.E. credit. but then you'd need an instructor to instruct the P,E. teachers. how will u manage that? I mean u cant have a white belt teaching white belts. They've gotta be a solid blue belt to teach beginners and if if the class went to the next level you'd need a black belt. That and demand are two the biggest problems
I was raising my hand when he asked "any questions?" lol. Why does the right hand have to be facing down when you have the gable grip hold on the ankle?
More secure, when it's facing down the natural motion of the wrist is to twist clockwise. When facing up, the natural motion is to twist counter-clockwise leaving more chance of slipping.
Seriously? The guys who are saying they suck are retards. Why don't you try it and you'll see how gay it is. The the thing I hate about youtube. There's always some idiot 13 year old white boy who has the most ignorant comments.
13 year old white boy? how does race tie into this, I have seen plenty of ignorant comments from all kinds of people. My advice to you, is to just ignore those people.
One of the best T.O.M.'s yet! Thanks Rener and Ralek. And thanks for mentioning the importance of stopping and controlling at the heel hook instead of finishing during practice! That's how we like to do it where I train too.
juat note to new students: If you go for this technique go slow!!! this can damage the ankle, knee, and hip in an instant!!! I put a friend of mine in crutches for a month on accident and he still walks with a slight limp. BE CAREFUL!!!
You're a fucking moron if you caused an accident doing lower-body locks... What are you a white belt? Like the first thing they teach you is being super careful when doing these kind of drills yet you injured your friend doing this?
No I am not a moron. I learned this technique from a Sambo vid. The instructor did not mention the potential for easy injury. I used it for the first time during a free roll session. That was the reason for the injury. (This happened about 10 years ago). Again it was an ACCIDENT.
It's understandable in a roll session but didn't any one tell you anything lowerbody should be taken very lightly and easy? And they don't even allow you to use lower body locks under purple belt right?
No, when I started my grappling it was just with a bunch of friends that were good Judo guys. They had no knowledge of leg locks so I decided to learn them on my own. I saw that Oleg Taktarov was s Sambo guy, so I found a Sambo vid to learn the techniques from. I had no rank and no real instructor. No one to say "Take it easy".
