We have extra bell pepper in our kitchen so this looks like a superb way to use them. The rest of your recipes are intriguing to us as well. :) Keep cooking and feel free to check out our cooking vids and/or sub!
This looks soooo YUMMY!!! And you're so cute! :D Thank you for the recipe! I never knew you could make sabji with bell peppers only and I NEVER added besan to my sabji either, so I will definitely give it a try!
nee158306....poor thing you obviously do not how to cook.... that is why your sabji came out bad. I highly recommend take-out, unless you are from Mars
Hello Bhavna, This dish lacks technical skills as adding gramflour/cornflour etc unecessary thickens the final vegetable texture without adding much flavour to it.
I believe that particular ingredient can be skipped for better texture and enhanced taste.
Thank you for sharing. But everyone like it differently. I like even flavor of gram flour for this particular recipes. And actually to enhance the texture and taste, I add those flours but if you like without it, do so. Enjoy!
@nee158306 Actually adding of besan flour is important for this since it binds the otherwise chunky veges together. It also adds taste and protein component. If you dont have besan then you can dry roast channa daal and urud daal and grind them to a coarse powder. Add this and it will bind it all together and also add a crispy taste plus dont forget all the proteins you will be adding !
@nee158306 Besan/corn flour is standard addition to such vege stir frys. It helps to bind the chunky vege pieces together and also adds protein component. If you dont like or dont have besan then you can use channa daal urud daal powder (dry roast and coarse grind). This also gives a nice crispy taste. Healthy too!
since i didnot have any besan at home and my dry grinder wasnt working I boiled some chana dal and then made a fine watery paste with my hand grinder.
i then added it to the capsicum.
am sure were you to cook it that way you would then be able to give me some tips on how to cook it that way.........If at all its okay to cook it That way in the first place.!
It doesn't have to be just besan, you can use other flours such as corn flour, corn meal, jowar(milo) or other that has bit of same texture. You did lot hard work just to get besan. So next time, try with recommended other flours. It taste great even without flours
You can get any curry powder you can find. I don't remember mine but when I use next time, will specify brand as well. But honestly, brand wouldn't matter. Thanx
your recipes are lovely. and you seem to be such a nice person. friendly suggestion: put jaggery. don't put white sugar. it's very bad for you. you can also use turbinado sugar. white sugar does a lot of harm to you and your family.
Add according to your taste. Add very small amount if you are beginner. Taste and add more if needed. You will do better this way than my measurement. Thanx
To thicken the sauce, I use corn starch not flour. So not sure if you using flour then yes, you can use any white or yellow corn flour for this recipe. Feel free to ask if not satisfied.
In the US, whenever I go to indian grocers, they have 2 kins one is made from yellow corn and the other one is made from white corn. It's all same..Now in american supermarkets, I can only find white corn flour which also works for me...Last thing is corn starch is powdered form and corn flour has fine texture but not the powder...so here, it's two different things...feel free to ask again and thank you

is that same cornflour you use to thicken sauces? because yours looks little yellow compared with mine.
just wondering if it's the same thing.
thanks!

in UK we call corn starch and cornflour the same thing.
so i'm not sure which one you are using... i'm just confused why yours looks yellow.
thanks.

ahh ok in health shop they told me "corn flour" is same as "maize meal / maize flour".
but in UK it's confusing because we call cornstarch "cornflour" as well...!!
