Sucks how some people think he's in the HOF only because of his streak. He was a very good hitter (at least as far as shortstops go) and one of the greatest fielding shortstops ever. Ripken's '91 was one of the greatest seasons for a shortstop ever.

He is the MAN!!!! Cal was my idol growing up and it was sooooo sweet watching him win the 1983 world series the same year he won the A.L. MVP, you can't get much better than that! A true treasure to the game of baseball, a game that he truly loved and would have played for meal money. Thank You Cal, for being one of the games greatest ambassadors and giving us fans so many thrills throughout the years. We all miss you, the game misses you and baseball will never ever be the same without you!
