  • 8 sec is not bad for this type of car

  • yes the 5 speed auto is slower and is more focused on fuel econemt with the 3.6l, but that's why people buy the v6 in the jeeps. If they want more speed, they'll get the hemi

  • Oh my god thats fucking slow. Thats Embarrassing Jeep!

  • Her 0-60times, about 8.0sec, seems respectable for her power-weight-ratio.

  • the 5.7 is a maintenance headache, (16 sparkplugs, 2 catalytics on y pipe assy, etc). This why my next GC is going to be this 3.6. I don't tow or need 360 hp.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance I did not know that they had 16 spark plugs. I thought that was just the 4.7HO. lol cool!

  • @GmTruckCarLove The engine is very dealer dependent too.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance Not at all.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance Some things are and are very expensive.

  • Actually this engine has an avenir !!!

  • 1st goes to 50mph? Ridiculous. There is no need for that,

  • diesels hit harder

  • tey had a recall, because some 637 engines were defective my guess is that the guy that bought one in ontario has one of the few, yes beware but chrysler already stated they are replacing the engine and all is free

  • The axle ratio is too tall.

The Mercedes transmission lacks ratio spread.

It needs the ZF 8 speed automatic + shorter axle ratio.

    Then direct injection.

  • It seems to be a good engine.

It pushes strong, expecially over 4.000 rpm

  • These new GCs have excellent crash test scores in every category.

  • For 2012 Jeep Grand Cheroke, Dodge Durango & Ram 1500 will be recieving Chryslers 6-speeds Trans

  • @prettymuchright .only the 5.7 hemi versions. the 3.6s are gettin the 8 spds in 2013

  • @carfreak493 They offer those models without V8's, I was not aware ;)

  • Wow the gearing on the Mercedes 5-speed auto that they use is way too tall, and it's primarily because Chrysler/Jeep went with a very tall final-drive ratio of 2.87 in the interest of maximum fuel economy at the expense of acceleration and performance. The W5A580 is obviously too outdated now and needs to be replaced with the new Chrysler/ZF 8-speed automatics ASAP!

  • Probably would have gone faster w/o a full tank of gas, and with the traction control off.

  • 50 MPH in 1st...there's your problem lol.

  • It is no fun when I cant hear the engine. Got to be able to feel what you are driving. If you are so annoyed by the noise get a prius

  • @The415guy

I never said I was annoyed by the noise this engine makes... I think its too quiet actually.

  • @xoquixxoqafxo O ya. But in your other video of you driving the older grand cherokee you did.

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Feel my jeep. It gets to 70 before this thing gets to 50.

  • is the brake system good ?

  • The jeep definatly needs a 6 speed to take full advantage of that good v6

  • I was thinking...why does this seem so slow? I just drove one. Then it hit me, duh, I drove the 5.7L V8 lol.

  • @05Forenza

Im sure the 5.7L really goes lol Its too bad bc this engine is freaking quick in the caravan with the 6 speed auto.

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Well whats even stranger is I drove the new Charger (with the 5.7L) back to back with the GC. The GC definitely had more oomph on the highway and off the line.

  • ugh why is the gearing so long?

  • @20044runner

Bc they wanted to increase the fuel economy so they made the gearing extra wide i guess. But yeah the tranny really makes the new V6 look and feel sluggish

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Yeah that is true, I just know this engine has so much potential, it makes good power, just at high rpm. The wide gearing doesn't help that at all. I think if it was fitted with a similar transmission as the traverse from Chevy it would be much better off!

  • @20044runner The gearing in the Hemi one is just as long. I drove one thinking it was the 3.6L until I popped the hood. Boy was I surprised.

  • 8spd auto is on its way!!!!!

  • @carfreak493 yes but for 2013 in the grand cherokee.

  • @carfreak493 Not for the GC :(

  • @SuperJeepz mabe not as soon as in other cars like the 300 and charger, but it is comingg

  • @amiesteroffie

your welcome! Sorry we only get the V6 version, its rare to find a V8 model in a rental fleet. Only V8 cars in general we have are full size trucks/SUVs and a Cadillac DTS

  • I think this engine lacks in quite a bit of torque, which is also why it gets worse fuel economy in the city than previous models! I've heard though that they will be adding direct injection and multi air (variable valve system) in 2012 or 2013 to increase power and torque. This should bump it up over 300 hp. This is the best jeep ever! I don't like the new explorer, it looks like a soccer mom's drive!

  • @drippinblood28

It still makes 260 ft lbs way more than the 3.7L engine. Sure the old 4.7 had more but the new V6 has more hp and is much more refined. I seriously think the engine makes enough power, its just handicapped by a slow shifting 5 spd auto tuned for fuel economy. The 8 spd auto thats coming will fix that, I just think they should have launched it with the new car bc it makes this redesigned model kind of disappointing to drive at first.

  • @xoquixxoqafxo I mean its only a modest improvement. The 4.0 had 230 ft lbs torque way back. That was one of my favorite engines for its low end torque. It could also pull 5,000 pounds just like the new model. But anyways the 2012 srt8 should be a fun drive except it won't be any faster than the competition from the cayenne turbo or bmw x5 m. It's a bit dissapointing as a jeep fan :(

  • @drippinblood28

lol a Jeep Grand Cherokee, no matter how nice the interior has gotten or how much power the engine is making also just doesn't compete with a BMW or Porsche sorry

  • @xoquixxoqafxo when the 2006 jeep srt8 came out it was the fastest suv out there to about 90 from a dead stop. The cayenne could barely pull by in the quarter mile by less than a car length and less than 1/10 of a second. Back then the BMW was slow so it couldn't really compete. In performance, they're definitely comparable. What do you have against jeep?

  • @drippinblood28

I guess it was quick but I always thought it was un-necessary and I also don't like how the 6.1L engine was extremely fuel thirsty. I'm loving this new GC but I never really liked the previous Jeep models. I hated the liberty, compass, patriot, and commander. I guess the wrangler is cool looking but its soo unrefined for street use and the 3.8L engine is pathetic. I forget did they put the pentastar in the 2011 Wrangler? Cause thatd be sweet as hell

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Hey the porsche cayenne and bmw x5 m are also fuel thirsty too. I don't like any other jeep models either other than the wrangler. The 3.8 liter engine is pathetic and they kept it for 2011, but are swapping the pentastar in for 2012.

  • @drippinblood28

yeah I know, honestly I also think those 2 SUVs are also un-necessary, the base 6 cylinder models are the best in terms of practicality. Lame, I can't believe they didn't put the new 3.6 in the wrangler. I'd actually want one if they did just cause I like how they look lol

  • @xoquixxoqafxo I think the jeep srt8 is practical. It gets the same fuel economy of a full size pick up truck and isn't horrendously expensive like the bmw or porsche, but is much faster and they're working on increasing the towing capcity of the jeep srt8 because last year that was a dealbreaker for a lot of people apparently. thats the reason the srt8 won't have dual exhaust in the middle. And also the new wrangler does look really cool!

  • Yay, I've been wanting to see this forever! Thanks a lot dude. I couldn't exactly just pound it to 60 when test driving the car with salesperson with me

  • Shame it shifts at 6300. Engine sounds like it just wants to keep pulling well past that.

  • nice ur the first one to post a 0-60 for this car

  • @amiesteroffie

I think the official time is around 8.9, I didn't exactly start off at 0 in my video. Traffic and lights did not permit me too :(

  • Wow, shifting out of 1st at 50 is a JOKE, it needs to shift at 35. They seriously needed to shorten the 1st and 2nd gear gearing on that 5spd. what a JOKE.

  • yuck that is one sluuuuggish shifting 5spd automatic...

  • the new explorer will eat this thing's lunch.

  • Way more peppier than the old jeep's 3.7, but Chrysler really need to put the 6 speed in this, that 5 speed is alright but i could really use a 6 speed!

  • Well the engine from here sounds great. Unless the tranny is tuned to help deliver better MPG's, the shifts of that 5 speed auto look lame.. Kinda like the Liberty 3.7L with 4 speeds of Automatic slushiness.

  • @Intechdude300 Agreed...this engine has some power, so Chrysler should drop in the 6-speed auto and set the gearing similar to the Town and Country and Grand Caravan to make the most use of its power.

  • @4wheeler14

Hopefully soon but when it comes to Rear Wheel Drive, I dont recall them having anything more than 5 Spds for that setup. I've read an autoblog article that they're Developing 8 Spd auto for RWD. So the issue then will be constant gear hunting. It's very teasing.

  • @Intechdude300 True about the constant gear hunting. I noticed that when driving my mom's Mountaineer with a 6 speed auto, the trans likes to jump between 4th and 5th gear around town. It never stays in one gear, unless you push the pedal down harder, making the trans hold 4th gear longer. The 5 speed in my 04 Overland is much better than this 5 speed. The shifts are quick and the gearing is not bad. This 5 speed is geared horrible for performance, but I guess they were after better MPGs

  • @Intechdude300

The caravan I drove is much quicker. The 5 spd auto is seriously slowing it down what a shame. At least the engine is so much more refined now and I love how the interior looks and the materials. Its a nice looking SUV but I think I like the new explorer more hehe
