@koolsportzguy Because a smash is a much more consistent/safe shot to play that still has a high chance of securing the point. Tapping it over would require you to kill all that momentum and top spin with a slice, which runs a much higher risk of error.

The ball continues to spin the same way. On the way down, high pressure area forms on right of the ball (ball is traveling in the opposite direction), making it curve to the left, which brings it back to the table. When it hits the table, the spin grabs (gear effect) and makes the ball kick to the right.

And I agree that this is spectacular and it proves there is A LOT of spin, but it's not a miracle. However, when the ball later lands on Perssons side at 1:36 it CHANGES DIRECTION and none so far has been able to explain than fenomena. Of course thats neither a miracle as it happens twice during the ball, but it's really strange.
