• this is so epic and no other movie company could match this. Not even get close enough to wave at it. Nope. it's too amazing. So, when barbie tried to remake this I laughed at them. It's a nice try but I'm tired of them pulling stunts like that. Trying to recreate amazing movies using barbie. It's sooooo stupid! Jeez, think of your own ideas once in a while will you?

  • @littleAngelofMusic1 I agree with you on barbie but not on the fact that no other company can make this. I have grown up with watching the russian "thumbellina" (same story just the girl has a different name b/c it's russian) and it's amazing. So don't judge too harshly ;)

  • @tsyganko The Russian cinema is a whole different category - beautiful, graphics, beautiful music, but a whole set of different traditions. It's more adult, I think, or at least expecting more from children. It's a pity the old Russian cartoons are not known in the West. I've always preferred the Russian "Little Mermaid" (the one from the sixties) to the Disney one, for example.

  • @Galastel Hhmm that's true, I wish they were more well known in the west. :)

  • Remember 2 follow ur heart! Like if u agree

  • i love this movie its just like anistatia except anistatia is a disney movie

  • @abbynajlove no its not

  • @T0XIC666ANGEL i think it is

  • @abbynajlove It's 20th Century Fox

  • I´ve always loved this movie... But I can´t find it on dvd anywhere here in Belgium...

Maybe Cornelius and Dimitri are so much the same beacause Anastasia and Thumbelina are both Don Bluth movies!

  • Aww that's cute that on 2:27 the mole and the feildmouse get married :]

  • Does anyone else feel bad for Thumbelina's mom? She wanted a child bad enough to go to a witch for one. And then her kid gets kidnapped after like three days! Then, when she finally gets home, she ends up getting MARRIED.

  • Omg I've never seen this movie before today, and I can't stop crying.

  • In the wedding scene, all the faries look deformed. The only 'normal' ones are (of course) Cornelius and Thumbelina.

  • see, its movie like these that make you have high expectations for guys...

  • It would've been much easier if they had cellphones.

    CORNELIUS: "Thumbelina, wru?"

THUMBELINA: "On a lilypad. Got kidnapped by a toad. LOL."

    CORNELIUS: "Ayt. OMW!"

  • @japsmedina Ayt OMW?

  • @Vargo0071 Translation: "Alright, on my way!"

  • @japsmedina Ahahah Love that :D :D

  • Thumbelina's wedding gown was Very Pretty. Why the weird hair some ask? The Royal Queen had a crown in the fashion of a trumpet flower. The fairy kingdom was all of Flowers. Thumbelina was really a fairy. Her birth in the flower. The connection? look at all the fairies in bloom at the end. just as the Royals influenced the changing of the seasons, I believe Thumbelina maybe had magic fairy qualities like the influence over spring--- inspiring new life. IMO- very lovely story xoxo

  • beautiful! :)

truly a fairy tale from nostalgic times <3

  • ...........you've beaten me. touchee!!!! (and it even makes it cooler since u sed ur from Ireland. HECK YEA!!!)

  • i cant stop laughingi keep reading how this reminds people of Anastasia and i looked over in sugjestions and saw it

  • i realise that this movie is incredibly inaccurate, but i like it anyway. it brings back soooo many memories... :))

  • @krazyk00k00bird I agree with you I decreased in age at least 15 years.

  • @tigercathou i just found out that one of my friends has it and we're borrowing it from her!! i know u probably don't care, but now i dont have to watch it in different parts!!! xDD

  • @krazyk00k00bird I'm a bit jealous, because the songs always cut in half in this one, you wont get that, lucky. enjoy. :-)

  • @tigercathou :) ill watch it one time for u! xD

  • @tigercathou i just found out that one of my friends has it and we're borrowing it from her!! i know u probably don't care, but now i dont have to watch it in different parts!!! xDD

  • @Irishprincess2468 AND they were only 16 in the beginning of the movie. do you think they were the same age at the end?? lol

  • @corinn3r well keep in mind the time period they lived in. in their time people usually keeled over at like 30, so they gotta get crackin.

  • wow...thank you so much for uploading this. I haven't seen this since I was a kid (and the version I saw was much much older than this one)...really took me back down the memory lane.

  • too bad they're both dead... what? Thet bird said: and they LIVED happilly ever after!!

  • Gotta say the prince is smooth.

  • So Miss Fieldmouse married Mr.Mole herself, good for them. She'll make a much better wife for him, even if she is a bit greedy, it's still a much better pairing.

  • This is the first time I've watched this movie in twelve years. It's as good as I remember it, and I liked it as a kid. (Don Bluth's only decent movie out of the three he released in 1994-1995)

  • WOW. ok things go pretty fast here hahaahaha

  • Thumbelina is so selfish. Once she finds her prince charming she forgets all about her own mother, who is probably still weeping over the loss of her daughter. Overall, this movie was lame and the characters really grate.

  • alright, so let me get this straight. She met and fell in love with the prince in 2 minutes. Then the Frog wanted to marry her, then the Beetle but he dumped her, then the Mole wanted to marry her. All in about 3 days.

So one girl was betrothed to nearly 4 guys in 3 days.

So in a world where you met someone and get married the next day- what would be the divorce rate?

  • @danielamyra3 It's the same world where the leaves begin to change color and two days later, the entire area is covered in deep freeze.

  • Fantastic

  • OMG John Hurt voiced the Mole!!

  • my sisters fav movie when we were lil!!! she just watched it and its been years since she had seen it!

  • Why is it Thumbelina always a NEGATIVE THINKER

  • Well that's all fine and dandy, now where's my fairy prince?

  • dude lets not forget they are 16...unless the seasons were meant to represent years

  • And on their honeymoon, she's kidnapped by a squirrel, a troll and a butterfly.

  • @xoxstace13xox I think it's because Anastasia is a Don Bluth film, just like this one. Same as Titan A.E. Cornelius reminds me of Cale in that movie.

  • awww. If you think about it, the mom only had Thumbelina for about a day. It isn't fair!

  • i love this movie i used to watch it all the time when i was a kid it's been a few years since i last saw it i almost forgot about it lol i'm soooo glad i found it again

  • so, what about her loving mom? did she just forget about her?

  • The bee didn't get squeamish this time when they kissed on him! :D

  • she has wings and the poor bee still has to drag them around.

  • Aww, beautiful :))) But when you think about it, it's definitely one of the darkest animated movies until now :S all the things that happened to her and when she thought cornelius and jacquemot were dead...and then, all alone, being forced to marry that mole... gah, really sad :S I can totally see some metaphors in the things that happen to her, it's like she becomes a woman after all the darkness, as compared to a girl she was at the beginning.

  • Wow...that is the puffiest wedding dress I have ever seen

  • Bluth is truly an artist. The characters are just so expressive, and there is an undeniably romantic, magical and desirable sort of perfectness to the stories. Watching these films brings me back to my childhood.

I will venture to say I like all of his movies better than Disney's *-*

  • @BabyMissa i second that notion.

  • Itsn't this a childeren's movie? If so then why are they kissing like that and getting married so shortly after meeting? Scary ... still love this movie

  • it wouldve been better had she not grown wings--seemed like that was just tossed in. it was more romantic with him having to hold her to help her fly and its also a great way to know if you can trust him

  • this is a Disney movie, or not??

  • @parimosilla Nope, not Disney

  • aw :( now the prince wont be her only wings

  • why does evevryone fight over thumbelina? it's worse than twilight!! O_o

  • anyone think of anastasia when watching this movie? maybe its the fact that dmitri reminds me of cornelius XD

  • @xoxstace13xox Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they're done by the same animators: every film Don Bluth does (the animated ones at least) have this "look". Not sure how to describe it, but I can always tell a Don Bluth film when I see it. The characters look similar, the surroundings have a certain look to them, any number of things. Watch another film and see if you can spot the similarities.

  • @xoxstace13xox Both are Don Bluth films. The animation is similar thusly. :D

  • @xoxstace13xox

well anastasia is from the same director as Thumbelina.

Don Bluth made both the films.

  • @xoxstace13xox and both anya + thumbelina have three tufts of hair by their face

  • @plzkthnxbi And they were both created by and drawn by the same people, too.

  • @xoxstace13xox Thumbelina reminds me Simone Simons g.g,,,

  • @xoxstace13xox LOL I just watched Anastasia yesterday and it reminded me of this movie. So here i am watching. LOL Yes cornelius is very much like Dimitri

  • @xoxstace13xox Both movies were done by the same Directors and Producers: Don Bluth and Gary Goldman. :)

  • Great Movie!! I was hoping that they'd show her visiting her mum with fairy prince to let her know all is well!!

  • So nice to finally see this movie in English...remembed only little of it in Danish though. ;-D

and as always there is both similarities and differences between the movie and the original fairytale, but it is still a beautiful story. <3

    Thanks for uploading.

  • this film was my childhood used to always rent it out dunno why i never bought it lol let me be your wings aww such a lovely song :)

  • So sweet! :D

  • Aaww. So sweet :3 Thank you for uploading!

  • gotta love the 90's! I grew up with this movie... i probably havent seen it in 10 years...now im 16 and ive found my prince...of a year! <33333333 This movie is so sweet :)

  • i love how cute the lil ginger people are !!! such a cute fairy tale

  • Replace the end credits song with Journey's Don't Stop Believing, and you got yoself the best animated film ever.

  • i love her wedding dress!!!!!!

  • Ahw sweeeet!

  • I havent seen this film since i was six and i remember being scared of the beetle :P

Its amazing, never realised how sweet it was :')

  • i wish i hadwings! i've alwayas wanted to fly!

  • I wish I had that princes voice!!

  • woah didnt they like only spend one night together and then they risks thier life must be some night....... hehehe

  • this is the first time i've seen this and i love it! i love the whole story and i love how their love is just so awesome! i love it! :)

  • Such a cute film... :D xx

  • Thank you so much for uploading! I saw this movie in 1994 with my father. It brings back beautiful memories... :)

  • How is it sick?

  • only complaint for this movie is that romeo and julet diddnt follow every vow. they had sex before they were married. but it matters not it was part of the song am i corect>?

  • @AcuAwaGomu Uh... no they didn't. In Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet were married first, and even after that they only had one night together.

It's a pretty short play, so you can read it. Or, if you prefer short synopsis, look it up on wikipedia.

  • That sparrow never sings anything other than that song does he? It starts do get obnoxious after a while.

  • @quantumphysics314 i found every scene obnoxious that had him in it as a 9 year old child i couldnt figure out how to fast forward those bits but boy did i want to :P

  • marred at sixteen, hope they have parental permission. Awwh i love this film. OH. Is the beatle the voice of Timone? xD

  • @gemzee82 not sure, it's a posssiblity. I know it is the voice of Iago the Parrot in Aladdin though

  • @gemzee82 yeahh. he is. and the voice of thumbelina is the voice of ariel in "the little mermaid" and barbie in "toy story 3"

  • Just broke up with my boyfriend of a year and a half last night. I was bawling by the end of this movie.

  • @angrypinkmachine Wow. I am exactly in the same situation, and I watched this for comfort as it was one of my favourite child hood movies. Hope you get over him soon xxx

  • I used to hate the hat she wore for her wedding, but for some reason, I don't mind it so much now. I love this movie! ♥ Thank you for uploading this!

  • I love it when Thumbelina sings 'Everyday you'll take me higher... and cornelious sings 'And I'll never let you fall! It just makes me so happy to see the get married. :D

  • guys calm down!! your getting all up!

  • disney is so perfect :D and i'm 14 ~~

  • Oh and everyone should know in 1988 warner bros and Disney joined. They split up late 1993 and a few months later in 1994 thumbilina came out. It takes more then a year to create an animated movie so thumbilina was in fact made when Warner bros was a branch of Disney. So it can very well be called a Disney movie ;)

  • Oh my gosh you guys it was not two or three days! Disney always makes settings symbolize a period of time. She probably spent a week with the toads, months with the bird and bugs, months walking, and months with the mole and mouse. Enough time to take up fall and winter.

  • this just proves .. Love conquers all odds .

  • So not only did they meet, fall in love, and get married in less than a week but it also apparently went through 3 seasons in about 3 days. At the beginning the fairies were making it fall. Than legit the next day it was snowing then like a day or 2 after it was spring.

  • @Irishprincess2468 Yeah... The book was a *lot* more realistic. Haha xD c'mon :P So, a show of hands: who here actually read the fairy tale? :P

  • @Irishprincess2468 funny isnt it LOLZ makes no sense

  • @Irishprincess2468 I think it's more of a metaphore for love... like it goesthrough seasons. Things get hard (Winter), but eventually they get better (Spring). Or something like that? Lol. I'm just guessing. O:<

  • @PaprikaSeasoned you're absolutely right LOL!! It's not just a guess :)

  • @Irishprincess2468 Oh and growing up as well. xD

  • @Irishprincess2468 Hey, if kloe kardashian can do it, So can Thumbelina. xDDD

  • @immortalXdesign HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA touchee!!!

  • @Irishprincess2468 LOL!!! out of everything in this movie (ie little ppl, faries the talking animals, animals wanting to marry a human, ect) u think the werid thing is the weather changing so much??? sure in Ireland we go through all the seasons in one day dnt we! lol!

  • If they just make this disney movie, it would be great and better!!!!!

  • GOOD ENDING!!

  • I wish Jodi Benson and Gary Imhoff had released a version of Let Me Be Your Wings... the Barry Manilow version just isn't the same, even though it's his song...

  • i remember turning the pages of this book and when i reach the ending,i'll go back to the starting and see the pictures again and again lol

  • I love the part in the end where he comes back and sings to her! :) Then they kiss....it's sooooo romantic! I <3 this movie!!

  • This movie would make an awesome Broadway Musical. I love it so much. <3

  • blast from the past much

  • this has to be one of my fave kids movies of all time! so sweet! =)

  • thanks alot for uploading this!

  • now i remember the story of thumbelina..... no wonder when i was a kid.... i really loved this movie

  • aw....at first i thought this movie would be stupit...i mean i know the story but she seemed so..i dont know...anyway...in the end it actually got me crying!cornelius is such a sweetheart!!!! <3<3<3

  • Ooh, Ms. Fieldmouse and the Mole got married. I never noticed that before

  • I had never realized just how fast this movie can go! I mean, it's fast as hell. o.oU Things happen at such a pace that you can hardly savour them. But at the same time it's such a cute movie and so sweet. I suppose that when you are a kid you just care about how magical something can be. XD

  • they've been like, dancing ballet the whole movie :)

  • @retrofunky123 then thats beutiful dancing, i always wanted to learn :]

  • At the begining didn't the mother say something about him being 16? ....and they blame tv shows for teenage pregnancy....im on to you childrens movies!

  • @katiecheerlove xD nice.

  • by far he is the hottest prince in disney

  • @carmendreamers not trying to burst your bubble, but this isn't a disney movie.

  • i noticed all the fairy tale princesses and disney princesses are all 16 and they get married:P

  • @phoenixlatina this isn't a disney movie.

  • @Marissacanflyyx I never said it was:P

  • @phoenixlatina Beast from beauty & the beast was 21

  • such a great movie love it first time seeing it but such a sweet movie

  • I got teary eyed too. I love this story. I hope that someday I will meet my fairy prince... And live happily ever after :)

  • i love it

  • hes just dying to grab her n kiss her in the end love it =D

  • I agree I was sad when I heard he died and that was a cute happy ever after

  • did anyone else almost cry when she thought cornelious was dead, my eyes got watery. i hope i meet a cornelious when i am older!

  • @mlballerina not the same age I hope lol

  • I did- actually I cried through the whole movie! What really touched me apart from Thumbelina and Cornelius's scenes were the bugs- the didn't even know Thumbelina but they readily helped her- nobody does this today, does he?

  • Cute movie!!!! I personally love fairy tales. Sometimes reality can just suck and a good fairy tale will make my day.

  • @poodlepuppify I totally get what you mean it kinda makes you sad...as a kid you hope stuff like this is true..and then you grow up and reality hits but its still nice to believe in stuff like this I adore this movie.

  • together for ever-in ginger love!

  • Ahhh makes my heart smile I loved this movie as a little girl and still love it!

  • What kind of society are the fairies living in where you can get married at 16?

  • @MammaMia sounds like the society of the middle ages.

  • I absolutely hate the pieces of hair in front of Thumbelina's ears! They look so retarded!

  • I absolutely hate the pieces of hair in front of Thumbelina's ears! They look so retarded!

  • only sixteen and already getting married? :P

  • When I was six I thought this movie was really wierd, and now, 9 years later, I really enjoy it.

  • I loved this movie as a kid... and I still do!

    Thanks for posting! :D

  • how come in every fairy tale the girl is always REALLY nice, has a great voice, and ALWAYS gets the prince? WHY IS THAT!!??

  • these are the dream of all girls... Your're also nice and will meet your prince once day..

  • Comment removed

  • @meghan0095 If they didn't get the prince it wouldn't be a fairy tale. If they weren't nice, no one would want them too. I DO think there should be a princess who can't sing though!

  • I think that her being naive kind of makes her more lovable. It makes me care about her more because she's more vulnerable, and we can't all be smart and strong.

  • ahhhhh....this movie makes my heart feel full

  • awsome

  • this movie is so beautiful! brings back memories! nothing is impossible <3

  • this movie tells you that while you are liking someone, don't go kissing random people... like thumbelina with that frog. lols. it's partially her fault anyway. lols.
