  • Real....NO FAKE! Simply beautiful African music, and dancers. Thank you for sharing this beautiful African Cultural dance. We are all the same, doesn't matter whether we are in Jamaica, America, or any place on this earth...we need to unite as ONE people, simply because we are ALL the same people! Our culture is so o o rich and beautiful. THis dance and music has truly embraced the African culture through dance, music, and song.

  • :)

  • IM FROM PHILIPPINES I DONT UNDERSTAND THE SONG! BUT IM ENJOYIN THE AFRICAN BEAT!

  • Thanx for uploading this!I was in a bad mood and u uplifted me.Greetings from Greece!

  • @ioandes Your welcome. Glad the video uplifted your spirits. lol

  • @ioandes Greece ?? Am also living in greece!

    I love my African Roots!!!!

  • I love this song that has a Caribbean (calypso?) like favor to it.

At .044 in the video there's a brief shot of a Red Cross sticker that says "Uganda". So this video is from Uganda. The crossed chest beads remind me of other videos I've seen of Tutsis .Some Tutsis from Rwanda/Burundi now live in Uganda because of the ethnic genocide/warfare in those nations. So my guess is that this is a video by Tutsis living in Uganda.

    -an African American sista

  • @azizip171 Yea, Uganda.

  • @thotsins Thanks for that information. I showcased this video on my fb page cocojams jambalayah and on my website of music/dance video gems under the title Caroline (Uganda). I hope that is alright with you.

  • @azizip171 LOL! That's fine. You'd have to ask Bobi Wine, I guess. LOL!

I'm going to check out your page.

  • @azizip171 Where are you from?

  • @thotsins I'm from the USA state of New Jersey, but now live in the state of Pennsylvania.

  • @azizip171 Yea, this style of music is native to Uganda. The instruments are traditional. A lot of African sounds like this, similar to Calypso because when our people were taken from our homes in Africa we carried it over to the caribbean, so our brothers over there play similar styles.

We're all the same no matter where we go. Whenever we move, we just take Africa with us. LOL!

  • @azizip171

no the singer is amuganda and the beads are native to acholi also from uganda . most african cultures are related too .the dance moves are also acholi .

  • @1234atful Thanks for that information!! I appreciate learning more about African cultures. Unfortunately, African Americans like me learn very little about African cultures in public schools or universities. YouTube videos and comments can be a great way to begin learning about African cultures and other cultures.

    Best wishes!

  • @1234atful Thanks for correcting my mis statement. Thank you. I love this song & dance and video!!

  • love this!! love the message in this song, young girls all over shud take the advice :)

  • Bonito, Beautiful. From Colombia

  • memories from school. Thanks.

  • I like this. Thanks Thotsins for posting the vid

  • Thank you. I live in Australia, and it seems our 'world music' sections are not very diverse... I will keep looking, I will have to keep listening to it on youtube!

  • I love this, I would love to get my hand on this music, but cant find it on Itunes or amazon, any suggestions

  • @TheJoyful63 You can only get it in Africa, or if you have family or friends to get it for you. Europe has a lot more than the states, and sometimes you can find it at the local music stores in the African sections, or through other private stores owned by Africans or people who specialize in selling African music.

  • @TheJoyful63 I know there are some on the internet you can order them through, but I have not done that much research to find them, because I just usually get these through my family and friends.

  • @TheJoyful63 or you could get it off right from here:)

  • whats the name of the song? i love it!!!!!!

  • @90sorsa "Caroline"

  • Love this video!!! More please! @sang133 & thotsins I am so jealous of you two...You seem to have deep knowledge of your roots and it reminds me that us so called "African Americans" have almost completely lost our history and heritage! 99% of us have no idea what part of Africa our ancestors come from & it really saddens me. If you now live here in America, please don't allow your children & future generations to become Americanized out of their heritage! Much love!

  • @mslenah Hello, sista. This is you.

Don't worry, African Americans have been led on to believe that they have no culture and have lost your heritage, but no, our people in the states have managed to retain SO MANY CARRYOVERS from Africa, despite slavery, that we notice within African American culture that it's AMAZING! And African American culture has had such a profound influence on the world, you should be proud. On top of all that—you still have the wealth of beautiful in Africa.

  • You could just go to African Ancestry dot com and trace your roots. Then just start learning about your cultures, there's an abundance.

We all WISH all black people would reunite with us because the world has categorized us under so many false divisive classifications.

  • @thotsins Thank you for the encouragement. I know you are right, we haven't completely lost our heritage & seeing our influence around the world is humbling. But so many of us are unaware of this. I guess we have to arm ourselves with knowledge to share with others who will listen. I plan my 1st visit to Africa in 2012...I will be checking our African Ancestry.com so that maybe I can visit the place where my roots are buried & share with the next generation. God Bless!

  • @thotsins I agree with you 100% It is a shame that some Black people simply don't realize that the same old trick is being played...divide and ...the rest is history! Turn off the tv's, stop listening to so-called hip hop, and start researching their history..the bible is FULL of African history! You said it well...Black people need to unite, and stop all of the division. We are ALL the same people1

  • @mslenah I hear you...You can also take time to know some Africans from different countries very well, plan to visit some Africans countries later in the future. There is so much to learn. It is sad to see some Africans lose their culture once they come to the States or Europe. All the best

  • What language, origin is this?.... u should prolly title this by the country and or language. Africa is not ONE people and culture ._.

  • @sang133 Yea, I prefer not to title the country cuz we're all one people. Helps avoid divisive attitudes, ya know?

  • @thotsins true, just thought you were one of those people who thinks Africa is a country ROFL...

  • @sang133 LOL! Yea, I know what you mean. I run into that all the time and have to clarify to people Africa is a continent with MANY cultures and peoples—all diverse. But I'm African, so I know. LOL!

  • @thotsins Cool which part you from, I'm west african, Nigerian :D

  • @sang133 Hey! You are my family. I'm Nigerian/Cameroonian.

  • @thotsins Lol I'm actually a Minority, I'm Urhobo, but I was born in Calabar.

And I believe I'm also Ethiopean from my mom's side.

  • @sang133 Yea, I just saw the Urhobo part on your channel. LOL! That's a cool combo you got there. That means you must know how to pop your hips and pop your chest and shoulders, too, like Ethiopians do it. LOL! You're like a combination of East meeting West. You are Amhara on your maternal side?

  • @thotsins Yeah My Mom's Amhara she says they're very small in number, she's also Urhobo mix, I guess that's why she's so light idk lol

My dad's full Urhobo, and I was born in Calabar.

  • @sang133 Yea, part of my fam is from Abia, not too far from you in Calabar. Then some are in Lagos, some in Kaduna, some in Cameroon, LOL you get the picture. You know in Naija we get around. LOL!

  • @sang133 Ohhh, sista/brodah. I just saw in your channel. LOL! You are Urhobo.

    Nice to have you, family!

  • @sang133 LOL! Yea, I'm sure you've shared this experience like me, when people ask you,

    "Do you speak African?"

People forget Africa is the second largest CONTINENT in the world. It's not one country. LOL!

  • @thotsins I feel liek i have to bang someone's head to a Map, and educate them lol.

  • @sang133 Yea. LOL! But you know you have to blame media cuz they seem like they want people to be ignorant about us.

  • Oh wow! This is REALLY nice and CLASSY!!!

  • Wow, what a beautifully shot video, a real feast for the eyes, thanks for posting.
