im trying to build my own mame cabinet and when i download the roms from romworld or coolroms i swear that almost everyone that i download it says missing a piece of the rom or a chd image and wont play. Just wondering how to got yours to run all the mame games without any lag or anything
I plan on building my own with a friend too man so thanx. What type of Monitor should be put inside the cabinet? Would a normal computer monitor without the shelling do?
to be honest I would rather use a tv that supports S-video and a graphics card that has S-video output, something like a Nvidia GeForce 4 unless you want to be able to play latest arcade style games like Street Fighter 4 then you will have to find one that has the support.
@ArcadeMameMachine That is not true, you can easily use a normal VGA vard. Just solder R/G/B/Vs/Hs to the correct pins on the vga connector. I've done this and it works just fine. To generate the correct 15Khz signal you will need to make some registry hacks, or you can use a software called "Soft15khz" which installs those reg-hacks for you. Then make something to turn on the monitor when the signal is correct, either just turn it on manually, or build a small frequency counter with a relay.
So whats the correct way to extend these x-arcade cables who are to short? do you sodder these? or just strip them and twist them together and put some tape around?... whats the best way?
by the way once i get my 2 others pc that are coming next week ill post some videos of me hooking a pc to my 51 tv using ps2 controllers and my mame setup.
if you live in the UK and need arcade stuff go to gremlinsolutions co uk, they are not the cheapest but will give you an idea of what you might need, just go to joystick and button kits on there site, hope this helps.
Thanx man im from UK and plan on building one (or two depending on the first one) with a friend. Any other info on building a cabnet i.e. what the fuck goes into it would be greatly appreciated.
Im probably gonna buy a cheap gamepad (like you did with the ghetto mame) or just buy a ipac1 im all trying to fit this in a bartop instead of my mk2 machine thanks anyways.

Just curious, if you are so comfortable with wiring, surely it would be a lot cheaper just to make it yourself from scratch. Great job either way

Thanx again. Do you use a TV in yours?
theoriginalrazer 2 years ago
Yes, it's a cheaper alternative to a Arcade Monitor, and it looks pretty good for what it is.

OK do you know were I can ontain a proper Arcade monitor? So I can check whats out there before I decide?
theoriginalrazer 2 years ago
you could try hantarex co uk but not sure how they cost and I am pretty sure they will be expensive as well as P&P costs

Also you will need to but a Arcade VGA graphics card to work with the Arcade monitor.

Best way is to butt splice them, but it's up to the individual. All these methods will work just fine.

i bought an IPAC ...i dont know if you looked into it yet or not mike, but the IPAC would free up some of your USB slots (if needed)...
