I don't care or give a fuck about new drums at all ..I had my old Pearl drums for years it's in a between the years of late 1970s and the early 1980s .and they still kick azz .No question's about it !! To be seriously honest .I wouldn't even own a new drum set . They just don't make old drums that would and will Out last the shitting azz new ones that comes out every year '''Just can't buy old drums like that any more ...Beside on the Vintage drum website's Or the Pawn shops
Is the vbx series made of 100% birch shells or are just some and others are made of birch/basswood? Also is birch like maple in the sense of is it a professional level wood the gives a professional sound and quality? Finally is the vbx kit and intermidiate drum kit?
@drummerboy2595 it's 100% birch shell i have one, i was going to buy the tama superstar hyperdrive but the salesman told me that the pearl vbx was way better and i am so glad i believed in him ;) it really sounds amazing
@drummerboy2595 Your lower quality cheaper kits are made from basswood or poplar. The higher end kits are usually birch maple or African mahogany. Birch wood gives a lot more cut and attack, and has a naturally EQ'd sound, with more highs than any other wood. Maple is good too, there more warm sounding and a little bit more mellow. mahogany is very punchy sounding and really deep; lots of lows. The vbx is one of pearls intermediate kits.
If you are a decent player.. you can play any kit ...but ....a great skinned and sounding kit bring the player out in you ..for sure!
I am giving Pearl their new Catchphrase -
" Pearl Drum s - Brings the player out!" "Pearl Drums - Just add PLayer " , "Pearl Drums - Find the Player within !" , Pearl Drums - Release the inner drummer" , Pearl Drums - WE made the KIT ..You bring the HIT!"
He's talking about quality control and "other" drum companies subcontracting out build work. WTF, is says on the bottom of the logo "Made in china" What do you guys think? I went into my local music store to check' em out today. Now I'm not sure.
Pearl drums is an aweosme stuff to ahve.Got a great tone ,i believe the strongest drum in the world with its SST technology, its a choice a lot of drummers nowadays around the world. Before i got pearl drms, well i didnt reallly it but when i got it to play ,wow reeally cool ,a good feel its 2 good.
No offense man. i dont mean to contradict, but you might have been looking at the lower end drums of Pearl. Iv been playing for 19 years now and pearl are the best drums ive ever played. Volume has always been awesome for me. Lately i refuse to go back to any other brand, and ive played on more than my share of brands. Sorry man, Again dont mean to contradict.
yeah... they prolly just think its a better way of marketing to the masses, and since this is a beginner/ intermediate line those drummers wouldn't appreciate the sound as much as a fancy fill...
@joeyhoeyca beginner? this is 1200 dollars a begginer set is like 300 dollar cb drum kit made of poplar unless your professional/ these drum r awesome not meaning too offend but if u think this is begginer kit ur spoiled
@kratoslinkmaster SPOILED ?! lol..... i bought my Visions VX kit with my own money that i made working 2 jobs. as well as my Paiste Signature Dark Energy Cymbals, and basically everything that has to do with drums... except for a few things i had been given as gifts. O.K. but u are correct tho, i shouldn't say these are Beginner kits, Intermediate definitely. You didnt offend me, i'm 19 and i still live with my parents, perhaps i am spoiled in many ways.
@joeyhoeyca didnt mean any offense just saying i've been playing for 2 years and im pretty good but all i got is cb begginer drum kit i mean i made it sound pretty good with remo heads and i got a pearl snare, i read drum notation and know really good beats i would be happy to get one of those sets. because alot of time i see beginners with this set that don't tune it well and my 600$ set sounds better then theirs
@kratoslinkmaster nah its all good. i completely agree, about seeing people who have nice kits and cant tune! it kills me.
yeah man good heads and tuning go a long way.
i've been playing for 5 years, and started off on a Pearl Forum my friends brother gave to me! i only recently upgraded to a Vision a year and a half ago and its great, but it really just makes me dream of Masters and Reference kits ahahah
@kratoslinkmaster That's cool. I have been playing for 20 years. Back when I started I had a CB kit. The toms on that kit had a fat sound. My CB kicked ass. It's long gone though. Today I have a early 70's Pearl fiberglass kit and a '91 Pearl session elite. I have no plans on upgrading anytime soon. I love both of these sets.
My first drum kit was the original Pearl Export kit in silver flash finish. I still have the snare drum from that kit. The original line had a 10 lug snare and 10 lug bass drum. However they still used the old 1980's internal mufflers where you had a dial on the side to adjust the felt pad. Still a great kit for it's time.
Oh I know man, but pearl is known for their tone, and tama is known for their attack. While pearl makes birch drums (which I have), and Tama makes some maple drums, they aren't known for that. Pearl is known for tone and Tama is known for attack. But good point.
Well, Tama and Pearls are very good kits. But, it's all an opinion. Tama has more attack, but Pearl has better tone. They both have amazing hardware. I like pearl's snares better though..
sorry man, i cant agree with that comment. pearl makes their own shells, hardware and paint their own kits. no to mention the variety they can afford u if u get one of their masterworks sets. ocdp use keller shells and gauger hardware, none of which is made in house. they just paint and accessorize kits
not to correct you again but ocdp use there own homemade shell beeing as my uncle works for ocdp and they use dw hardware thats why the top drummers use thme for the sound
if you are in to only metal tama will work. In my experience tama's are more dead sounding more like a thud, but their hardware isn't nearly as good as pearl's. Except for tama's iron cobras are a bit better than the elliminators (obviously the demon drives are the best of the two brands). Pearl drums are more versatile and resonate more. I love my pearl, and my tama kit is ok but my next set will definitly be custom
depends on what drum ur talking about he starclassic bubinga they are some of the nicest sounding drums ive ever heard and also tamas hardware is built like a fucking tank....but i also like pearl over tama u have way more options when going custom and even with just reference masters editions u have more options than most of tamas cutsom ordering and then u have the pearl masterworks for every option EVER...so to each his own but i love parl
ignore the comment here, you sound quite misinformed. Thuddy drums usually just have thick plies of drumheads, usually has absolutely nothing to do with what brand the drum is, or what its made of. Unless you're using plywood for the shell.
good luck overpaying for that custom kit. You can probably find one cheaper made by a well known mfr. like Taye, Gretsch, Ludwig.
Pro-tone heads are bad! Pearl drums are so good generaly and the shitty heads ruins the overall picture of the drums, and when pearl drums cost a lot you have to pay over 150 dollars more if its a large kit and you want good quality heads... And thats only for the tom-toms. bass drum heads are much more expensive also... They should come stock with REMO heads or maybe even evans...
thats morgan rose of sevendust a mad ass drummer hes my idol he dosent play vision but he has his custom masterworks pearl kit hes just a huge endorser of the vision series
i have these drums.. they are awesome.. but BEWARE!!! he is using expensive drum heads (not the original heads) there is a mic set on the drums (effects on the sounding of the drums) there are lights beaming down and the drums (not what the drums really look like) cymmals (he never mentioned anything about the cymbals, cymbals have a big impact on the sound of the drums) therefore.. this isn't the sound and look of the drums if your going to set them up in your shed or lounge room
true, all except the light on the drums thing, i got on old export series (visions predecessor) and it's the exact same fade/sunburst colour :) amazing to look and play
THE best!? man im just simply stuck on PEARL and TAMA! but i guess Pearl is like the Harley davidson of drumsets u just have to try one! there are others that seem to rock too...Mapex, Premier , Dw , Ludwig, Yamaha..but i think dw's abit overrated...and u cant go wrong with gibraltar and axis with hardware...
doubt youve played any of the kits your talking bout. There is no best band, all brands make good kits depends what you like and the value for money. dont post such a stupid comment.
very true, i use an old tama...very old with parts foirm here and there..but i do know my share of drummers and im just sharing my opinion, what's ur problem its not like i abused any sets or said anything bout em....dude chill...
Aint pissed at all. But comments when people say "pearl is better than mapex, ludwig etc.." is pretty stupid. Unless you have played them all with a good set of heads, fair enough, my bad. But i doubt you have.
well..errh...i was just saying like in general u know, coz Pearl and Tama does have the most endorsers i think...and ive tried some here and there and they are kinda my 'dream' sets lol..but yeah in the end ur right it all comes to tehcnicality....
yeah I do drum. And Pearl and Tama do have the most endorsements, but the more you have they more people you will get. To be honest any high end drums are amazing regardless of brand. I play a sonor 3005.
lol pearl is good but i wouldn't say they're the best... Once you get up to high end kits it's alla bout the woods, and what sounds you really are looking for.
nop.... i wouldn't say is the best.... they are ONE of the best brands... but drummers maybe prefer other sound... if they would be the best EVERY drummer would use them and I don´t... I prefer DW drums... and you can´t say they suck because i prefer their sound... pearl is awsome... tama, dw, taye, ocdp too
When I get my pearl drum set im gunna make a video of me jamming on it and show it on youtube because I cant find any good videos of pro drummers playing on pearl drum sets. I wanna hear how pearl drum sets sound like, heard a lil in this video and so far i love the sound
yea this guy is a tool bag. they could have gotten someone else to demonstrate the kit. haha. Like Dennis chambers, even though he plays another kit....still
how much is it 5000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000?
shit these drums are just the best. i read about how their made and stuff, omg its so good. from exports even the forum, all the way to masters, they just sound so amazing.
I can tell he is reading Pearl's BS!! Thicker shells, more low end??? THIS IS WRONG! I can also tell that he knows jack about drums.
DUDE! The thinner the shell, the more low tones you get.
THICK SHELLS DO NOT RESSONATE as good. They give more mid tones and hard attacks..The low freq are gone. THEY CONSTRICT THE VIBRATIONS..MORE MASS, AND they do not project the sound as far as a thinner shell.
Not at all dising Pearl. They're great... listen to dw collecter and performance series.

i have these drums.. they are awesome.. but BEWARE!!! he is using expensive drum heads (not the original heads) there is a mic set on the drums (effects on the sounding of the drums) there are lights beaming down and the drums (not what the drums really look like) cymmals (he never mentioned anything about the cymbals, cymbals have a big impact on the sound of the drums) therefore.. this isn't the sound and look of the drums if your going to set them up in your shed or lounge room
michael9110 3 years ago
true, all except the light on the drums thing, i got on old export series (visions predecessor) and it's the exact same fade/sunburst colour :) amazing to look and play
Deathstorm3 3 years ago
cool sound, but i don´t think he plays with the original DRUMHEADS!!!
favd2002 3 years ago
well when u look at the video it shows he does.....
apujols2194 3 years ago
i have that snare it kicks ass
Branman1994 3 years ago
119 dollar snares don't kick ass....unless u have the REAL sensitone...the ones that go for over 250 or so...
apujols2194 3 years ago
If you can tune well enough then any snare can be a "kick ass" snare.

Pearl is better than Tama....
arnulfo94 3 years ago 7
That's an opinion..

I wanna play my drums so bad! I fractured a bone in my hand and, Man, I cannot wait for it to heal!
TomMSTie 3 years ago
you can tell he's reading the whole thing off a sheet off camera lol
but anyway pearl drums are great
stickyriver87 3 years ago
THE best!? man im just simply stuck on PEARL and TAMA! but i guess Pearl is like the Harley davidson of drumsets u just have to try one! there are others that seem to rock too...Mapex, Premier , Dw , Ludwig, Yamaha..but i think dw's abit overrated...and u cant go wrong with gibraltar and axis with hardware...
hamshussein 3 years ago
doubt youve played any of the kits your talking bout. There is no best band, all brands make good kits depends what you like and the value for money. dont post such a stupid comment.
MaxBS 3 years ago 2
very true, i use an old tama...very old with parts foirm here and there..but i do know my share of drummers and im just sharing my opinion, what's ur problem its not like i abused any sets or said anything bout em....dude chill...
hamshussein 3 years ago
Aint pissed at all. But comments when people say "pearl is better than mapex, ludwig etc.." is pretty stupid. Unless you have played them all with a good set of heads, fair enough, my bad. But i doubt you have.
MaxBS 3 years ago
well..errh...i was just saying like in general u know, coz Pearl and Tama does have the most endorsers i think...and ive tried some here and there and they are kinda my 'dream' sets lol..but yeah in the end ur right it all comes to tehcnicality....
are u a drummer btw? which set do u use?..
hamshussein 3 years ago
yeah I do drum. And Pearl and Tama do have the most endorsements, but the more you have they more people you will get. To be honest any high end drums are amazing regardless of brand. I play a sonor 3005.
MaxBS 3 years ago
really?? oh cool u use sonor...my fave drummer jaska raatikainen used to use sonor...
have u ever heard of a drumset called powerbeat?
hamshussein 3 years ago

PEARL IS THE BEST BRAND !
MRROCKDRUMMER 3 years ago 5
lol pearl is good but i wouldn't say they're the best... Once you get up to high end kits it's alla bout the woods, and what sounds you really are looking for.
Opeth115 3 years ago
nop.... i wouldn't say is the best.... they are ONE of the best brands... but drummers maybe prefer other sound... if they would be the best EVERY drummer would use them and I don´t... I prefer DW drums... and you can´t say they suck because i prefer their sound... pearl is awsome... tama, dw, taye, ocdp too
george5030 3 years ago 2
yeah dude...
pearl, tama and that stuff are the best for me!
like for instance; DW.. they have pretty good sound but jeez they look so awful !! eew those damn round dots :S and the price !!!
tho my pearl masterworks wasn't that cheap anywayz xD
MetropolisAtMyTube 3 years ago
When I get my pearl drum set im gunna make a video of me jamming on it and show it on youtube because I cant find any good videos of pro drummers playing on pearl drum sets. I wanna hear how pearl drum sets sound like, heard a lil in this video and so far i love the sound

funkadelic1992 3 years ago
mine only cost 1700.. which, when you think about it is pretty good lol
michael9110 3 years ago
Hey assholes.
Both Tama and Pearl manufacture very high quality drum shells and debates are worthless over this type of subject.
I personally perfer Sonor.
It's just an opinion.

No..
danielscott80 3 years ago 2
I can tell he is reading Pearl's BS!! Thicker shells, more low end??? THIS IS WRONG! I can also tell that he knows jack about drums.
DUDE! The thinner the shell, the more low tones you get.
THICK SHELLS DO NOT RESSONATE as good. They give more mid tones and hard attacks..The low freq are gone. THEY CONSTRICT THE VIBRATIONS..MORE MASS, AND they do not project the sound as far as a thinner shell.
C'mon Do I have to draw it for you people?
THIS IS TRUE SCIENCE.. not Pearl's BS..!
