It was bad judgement on the parts of both owner & victim. The animal was already aggitated.  The police should've been called to restrain the chimp in the first place.

I think we need to show some sympathy towards that women, its a very hard place to be in. She is probably going through a lot and passing judgment onto her is not going to help the situation. It would be tragic for anyone to see , say for instance your dog maul your friend beyond recognition.
