The problem with sonic 4 is that it's basically a rehash of sonic 1 and 2 levels. A lot of people look at sonic 4 as sonic's return to classic 2D gaming but really, great 2D sonic games never really went away. The sonic advance series was a very worthy successor to the mega drive games with the rush series not being too shabby themselves. After those games, sonic 4 just feels a bit meh.
