When you go to a show here since there are no seats are you just suppose to get there super early to make sure you're in the front? Or can you buy a nore expensive ticket?
I was in tears at Croke on the 24/07/2009 when they played BAD. Amazing song buddy. My wife just looked amazed at how strong a feeling it gave the crowd.
This is possibly my favourite U2 song (I was rather sad they didn't play it at the Vertigo tour leg I saw in Manchester, as I'd heard they played it at others). However, I'm underwhelmed by Bono's delivery here. It's not the words so much, the B-Man's never been a stickler for lyrics, his own or others. It's the somewhat lackluster effort, as though he's not that interested in the song itself. Which, with Bad, is unusal. Adam, Edge and Larry all seem into it, though.
i think thats unfair. hes commited to the charity job now, hed look a bigger dickhead ti just walk away from it. hes still a great singer/songwriter. lets not deny him that.
Why are the live versions of this song so much better than the studio??? I'm beggining to think the studio sucks ass compared these amazing live versions! What happend? Were they just not working hard enough in the studio?
"Were they just not working hard enough in the studio?"
I think it's almost the other way around: After they had started to play it during concerts, they managed to work harder than enough during those performances of the song.
Some songs just grow so much when they're played live (Bad being one of those songs), while other songs don't work out too well in a live setting.
True, but the same goes for songs like Bullet the Blue Sky and Until the End of the World. I think they were working hard in the studio on those songs, but they just aren't as good as the live versions.
clmsntigr113, U2 is a weird band like MJ, they record every concert they've done and I agree with you lot's of times the studio versions are either quiet or just suck. My friend, U2 is a live band you have to see them live preferably GA and get close and it will blow you away.
bono changes lyrics all the time.and he can cos their his songs.i dont know why anyone has a problem with it.this song is about the heroin problem in dublin in the early 80s and bonos best friend overdosing on his 21st birthday.and bono felt obliged to write an unbelievable song.listen to it.you will get it
I don't know, at several points it seemed as though Bono either forgot the lyrics or didn't know where he was in the song. A lot of times Bono adlibs or tries variations in the lyrics and/or melody. Sometimes it works better than others.
Still, not a bad performance, just not the best, in my opinion.
Man..I remember this day..I worked near Irving Plaza..great small club ..every once in awhile you get major bands there..Radiohead..INXS..I went there on my lunch break and tried to bribe a roadie to let me in later..he said no way..then I heard that Liam Galagher got turned away at the front door..so I felt better....great show re-stating there position as #1 live band after PopMart fiasco.....if you were there..you are lucky...
@jeffe36 hes right, it was a load of rubbish when compared to the elevation tour, even u2 seem to be mortified by it, it was way over the top, it was rediculous really ,songs were very bland except maybe for please, thank god they got back to there senses with the elevation tour.
I was one of the lucky 1000 who attended this show!

His voice is pretty much fucked.
His activision detracts from his musical efforts.
He's now pretty much a full time international celebrity dickhead

He has contributed to and been part of some amazing musical moments.
Both on record and in concert.
I loved the trio of Joshua, Achtung, & Rattle.
Live-wise where do I start? From 86-96 they ruled the live enviroment.

good, despite the fact that bono flubbed a lot of lyrics
davidshirt 3 years ago
He doesn't "flub" lyrics - They are his lyrics and on a nightly basis, he chooses what to do with them.
Dipshit.
