  • i was really hoping she was going to self-accompany with that string bass........

  • Kate Bush is God

  • How I want so bad to be THIS acoustic bass...

  • anybody else use this as wanking material?.....FUCK PORNHUB!!!

  • Bravo, totally legend.

  • signur che gnokka...e che canzone !!!

  • I've never seen a person attacking a cello look so very hot.

  • @VoidDeluxe ITS NOT A CELLO

  • She was a dancer - hence the great butt - and she is afraid of flying etc - hence the lack of touring - but a real original lady.

  • Is a playback but i don't care i was checking at her ass all the time!!!!

  • sexy Kate!

  • soo intense and sexy HOT !

  • This is causing a big hullabaloo amongst the critics. Shameful use of a big instrument.

  • Is she lyp synching here ? If not, she sounds just like the recording

  • Definatly not dubbed

  • And of course how creativity she was from point one, my gosh!

  • It's always scary how much older she seems to look for being 22.

  • I LOVE THIS WOMAN! SHE IS BEAUTIFUL AND SEXY, A ICE CREAM!

  • the muse ov all musik.love u kate

  • anyone else's got a strong urge to spank this lovely creature?

  • Love Kate Bush. Hate lip-syncing!

  • She sounds great! She is a testament to what anyone with downs syndrome can accomplish in life!

  • So happy to have seen that must dowload it so I can have it forever :)

  • Kate, no solo eres una artista maravillosa, además estás entera rica!!!

  • never noticed how big are her hands. In addition to being an amazing artist and having a god-gifted, she also has a great figure... Damn! This woman is just out of this world!

  • I like how her hair becomes increasingly more disheveled as the performance goes on.

  • she's the real deal

  • YOW!

  • I really wish I was that bass.

  • @TheDonVincitore she would kill you boy just look the end of the video if you has been the bass poor guy you'll be death , take this well just for joke

  • its julia gillard.

  • AT THE END OF THE PERFORMANCE SHE HAS TWO FACE THE DEMONIAC & THE

KINDLY WOMAN BUT AT THE END THE DEMONIAC KILL THE BASS WHO LIKE THE MAN WHO SHE LOVED STRANGE STORY BUT WHEN WE LOOK HIS EYES SHE LOOK LIKE A KILLER DEMONIAC

  • Has this woman been on Broadway? She belongs on a stage performing in some musical. She's very talented, but I find many of her creative performances more interesting than her voice. Not hooked on her voice...yet, at least.

  • @GeorgiePPuddinPie She never did any work on stage other than her single tour, but that tour really revolutionized and defined touring.

  • Comment removed

  • @GeorgiePPuddinPie Great comment! Guess what? The first time I heard this album, I thought it was Broadway show music!

  • @GeorgiePPuddinPie dude...... why do u make the link with Broadway? C'mon she's too cool for musicals and her singing is too alternative and brilliant as well.

And generally 'boring' people don't appreciate her style of singing.

  • The cello has often been used in surrealist art as a symbol of sexuality as it mirrors the female shape.Kate was no dummy.

Plus, she was gorgeous as well as talented. No crappy auttotune back then.

  • Wow ! ultimate performance art.

  • This is why I love 1980

  • stop at 2:44.

  • Love Kate Bush....One of my favorite songs ever...In this outfit she makes me think of 70s porn....she was so fucking hot at that age...

  • love this song. she is very beautiful. however, I think she's lip synching. that's okay though because her dance with the cello? makes up for it.

  • Gr8 - love the bit at the end where she 'throttles' the double bass.

  • GENIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • It was her lighting designer Bill Duffield who fell from the lighting grid. But that was before the tour started. She has worked on putting other tours together. We'll never know why they didn't happen.

  • @IAMPLAYSW/SQUIRREL One of her roadies/entourage was killed on that tour, an equipment rig door fell closed on him and he died. She never toured again.

  • what a woman!!!!

    #wanttheredsuit!

  • Ugh, I hate how she had to appear on all the shows that forced her to lip-sync.

But on the other hand, what a great performer she was/is. It's really such a shame that she only toured once.

  • Great woman. Ich liebe es.

    Großartige Frau.

  • The dress, the gestures...acting like that on a TV Show : The Great Class !

Lucky Germans ! (and lucky double bass, too)

Lyrics are soooo elegant and smart

    Chords suite is outstanding

  • Look at her lip sync her little heart out =)

  • @AshillaBeige

Industry wasn't paying talent to perform live so they also wouldn't let them sing live even if they waived their fee. It caused a big stink in the late 80s bc the public was noticing, making the TALENT look bad thru no fault of their own, culminating w/ the Milli Vanilli fiasco in the 90s. after that, the industry lifted that ban bc every artist was then under a microscope. Moreover, Kate's a dancer too but can't do both (dancing would mess up singing & v- vsa).

    HERS is just.

  • @MarcusDarling4026 Uuuuh... kaaaay....?

  • @Katefan could be simply the fact Kate was ahead of her time and the times? They're catchin' up!

  • Why she gets old??? WHYYYYY???? FUCK!

  • Nice to see her look like she's having fun! Love that smile.

I've noticed there are a lot of young youtubers watching Kate's videos recently, does anyone have an explanation for this?

I'm not complaining, I think it's great, after years of the usual suspects leaving comments suddenly there seems to be an influx of new blood. I'm just curious.

  • @KateFan Hey i was born in 1984 and I found her very natural, not an artificial product like Britney Spears, Jessica Simpsons, etc.. and she was very very beautiful too. Maybe it is a good one reason.

  • nice video, clever song!!!! nice idea x

  • great fantastic divine beautifull magic crazy incredible I love you KATE

  • Ben nu al 48 en nog steeds vind ik haar super gaaf, haar stem, haar teksten en haar uitstraling, gewoon superrrr

  • NICE ASS

  • I want to be that double bass!

  • @wardog1967 - oh man, me too ;-)

Great song by a great artist - and as if it weren't enough, she was stunningly beautiful and sexy back then!

And I love that fretless bass line by John Giblin ;-)

  • lip syncing clearly, considering you can just tell how this is identical to the recording, but who gives a fuck. she still sang it.

  • Ahh, that look on an angry wife's face...

  • is she lipsync ??

  • she wants a damm good shagging

  • @gazzah54 she came to nz 1980 and the camera guys said that there lenses were were melting .doing this song in a very tight red dress .

  • Musik-Laden! I actually saw this number as a kid when the family was stationed in Bonn back in the day when it was performed. I believe Kate dropped the making weird faces part fairly early on.

  • what can you say, this woman was before her time, pure genius

  • Kate Bush & Nik Kershaw changed music forever, it seems they both were from different Dimensions.. THIS SONG IS SO AMAZING :D <3 you Kate. x

  • love the manic smile at 3.08

  • biggest damn violin i've ever seen !

  • @moonboots69 It's called a Double Bass lol

  • the music is perfect..the preformance is magnificent and the women is stunning,

  • She's amazing! I love this song. I used to listen to it very often.

  • i love this girl..so original........makes artist today look like dumb asses

  • Damn that was a GREAT performance! I seriously believe she could've revolutionize live pop performance had she actually toured her albums

  • Mmmmm !!!

    I like !!!

  • She is beautiful.

  • One of my all-time KB favourites. A lesson for so many of the current pop-tartlets on that elusive combination of genuine artistry and sexiness.

  • This performance was fucking amazing,I am 13 and LOVE Kate Bush, thank the Lord I was born in 96 otherwise I would be condemned to Hannah Montanna shit and so on.Best singer ever.

  • My god she had a nice butt. Never realised it before tonight; i guess my tastes lay elsewhere when i first saw her some 30+ years ago

  • It's so cute how she hids behind the double bass. And when she smiles!! :):):) So sweet! 3:05!

  • Wow, a red version of Babooshka. What a sweet, little fanny she had! Why do the strings get to have all the fun?

  • The woman is an absolute tour-de-force. There's no other performer like her, and she need apologise to no-one. God bless her, I've been a Kate fan for years and I'll be one forever.

  • she was years ahead of her time

  • She is sooooo talented!

  • humping the upright bass, how i wish i was that bass! kate was so sexy in a different avante gard way

  • I had no idea she had such a great behind. 8-]

  • She's lip syncing!!

  • most pop acts did in the 80s as far as i remember.

  • It was the only option at the time. Wireless microphones were in their infancy, and Kate and Gordon "Gungi" Patterson had invented the headset performance microphone only the year before. It wasn't like she could say to the TV show "Here, use this thing that is made out of a coathanger, and a wireless microphone pack that may, or may not, crap out in the middle of the performance due to interference from unknown radio signals."

No, she was literally going from country to country.

  • @Norlimon everyone did in the 80s

  • @Norlimon So?EVERYONE did in the 80's the headset mic was very new and she wanted to perform the dance so she had no other choice, but she sings just as good live so i see no difference

  • Oh my God, I love Kate Bush! The Kick Inside, Lionheart and Hounds of Love are just such outstanding records and her persona is amazingly sensuous. It's too bad she never got as massive here in the states as she was in Britain.

  • WOW Very Hot Lady, where are you Kate - please come back - MISS YOU SO MUCH - Will just have to have a Marnia Fix at Bournemouth

  • Linda e sensual. Genial!

  • tori amos sounds like a bag of cats massacring each other...well, actually I'm not sure that's DEEP enough: it's more like they're on heroin and living in a basement where they sacrifice each other for more hits,,,something really horrible. How DARE you even COMPARE tori amos to Kate Bush!? Yeesh!

  • I love Kate Bush and her music is really better than Tori's.

  • @integration1000

    It shouldn't be a competition.

Tory admits she is influenced by Kate.

In no way did she ever try and take her place.

Kate's music is wonderfully self contained.

She is a one woman category and has no need to reinstate herself in any way.

The music she made is,was and shall always be a marvel.

  • I know there's no competition.I only gave my opinion. You love her music too, don't you?

  • Yes,I fell under her spell in 1978, aged 10.

In the 80's.I realised that despite becoming immensely more physically attractive to me,she was unique and rather special.

Then I discovered the history, and thought what a plonker Dave Gilmour was for not proposing to this 16 year old genius, that EMI was the greatest record company at the time for putting there fath in her..

Today,I am a lot more cautious, and have the opposite view on Gilmore.Thank god he restrained himself!,Thank God for Kate.

  • one of THE truly great recording artists of our time.....god bless you Kate x

  • when she humps the cello i got a boner

  • Great ass indeed.

  • Humping the cello... What a sexed up video this is. Guess it completes the song.

I totally worship her, What a strong performer! Makes me drool...

  • Kate is the ONLY artist who can make me laugh at her silly/cheesy antics and then drop my jaw in awe at the same time. No other musician had that same effect on me. A truly great artist! thanks for posting.

  • Wow!!! Magic performance!! Kate-show... 100% = promoclip...

  • So many gifted musicians come from the U.K.: Kate Bush, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Police, Peter Gabriel...

  • @Orjas67 and add PINK FLOYD, LED ZEPPELIN, THE SMITHS, THE WHO and David bowie etc, for the size of our country, it's amazing how many great bands/artists we had back in the good days.

  • Comment removed

  • @bpanni96

(Lou Reed is from New York man !)

  • @Orjas67 Funny you mention Peter Gabriel - he picked her out of the crowd in late 70's

  • So beautiful, such beautiful art...

At 3:07, she almost looks as if she is possessed.

  • I love this song from her!!!

    Kate bush the greatest!!

  • SHE IS JUST AMAZING

  • Biceps!!

  • @psirou I meant:

    Sexy biceps!!!

  • No probs. gazzah54, likes to watch Kate Bush with the audio turned off, and maybe with only one hand on the keyboard as well. His choice.

  • what is wrong with you fucking sad idiots just enjoy the the fucking video and get a fucking life

  • What the hell? spiritof57 had a legitimate technical observation about the audio. I'm the guy who put it up, and I have the technology and ability to repair the issue. In other words...

    Go 'way...grown-ups talking here.

  • Sorry. Really, no intention to criticize you for the audio quality. You can only post what you've got. Thank you again for posting the vid.

  • I'm more interested in the visual than the audio quality on this post !!! LOL

  • Nice video, a pity the audio is pumping so badly. Some kind of AGC in circuit. Obviously it's lipsynced, it's note perfect the record, but hey, it's a TV performance. I'll let you in on a secret, when you watch Star Wars 27, Search for the Accountants on TV this Christmas it's a performance as well, not a documentary. Doesn't make it any worse, or better for that.

  • Good point. I can re-sync the audio, I just didn't want to deal with replacing the audience applause. I did new audio on the Snowtime Special version of There Goes A Tenner.

  • very hard to sing such a passionate song and dance as well. I would love to see her singing in the studio.

Its a very powerful song, I agree she is crap and lip sinking, but she is so amazing at everything else.

one of the best things to come out of the U.K

  • Can you explain us why you think she is crap and lip sinking?

  • I love the story telling in her performance...

  • kate is brilliant. no offence; a bit creepy. but still very good and if she was'nt miming very good live. :)

  • singer/songwriter/dancer you can,t compare kate with anybody else full stop..

  • tori amos and her piano can't hold a candle to ms.bush

  • No, let's not have that. You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger Kate fan than me, and I *like* Tori. I don't think she's the genius Kate is, but she has several things all over Kate:

1: It doesn't take Tori 12 years to make an album.

    2: Tori TOURS.

3: Tori is a much better piano player than Kate.

This is not "Highlander" - there can be more than one. This pitting female singer/songwriters against one another is bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • Huh? I said what I wished to say, that pitting female singer/songwriters against one another is bullshit.

  • Sorry I couldn't read the last word but I can do now.

  • Couldn't agree more. Tori Amos is my favourite artist but Kate Bush is a very close second. How dull our music collections would be if we were only allowed to have one favourite artist from each gender.

  • I do have to defend Kate as far as the amount of time it takes her to put out an album is concerned: Today (at least in the US) people (notice I didn't say "artists") are putting out albums as fast as they can so both they and the studios can rake in the cash, and the conceptual quality is severely lacking. I believe Kate said in an interview that she only puts out albums when she has something to say, and I applaud her for that.

  • @KateBushvideos A little odd as you say "pitting female singer/songwriters against one another is bullshit" directly after a list of three reasons you think Tori Amos is better than Kate Bush. so as you did this I can not help but put one reason for Kate originality. Nothing like Kate Bush had ever been heard when she began. When Tori began everyone said she sounded like well...Kate Bush.

  • It's not "pitting". I'm not saying that Kate is better than Tori or Tori better than Kate - musically. But Tori has a far better work ethic than Kate. I've been a Kate Bush fan since 1979, and while I love her music more than any other musician, she is the opposite of James Brown - the Least Hard-Working Woman in Show Business.

Personally, I've never thought that Tori was imitating Kate any more than both of them were the daughters of Laura Nyro.

  • I checked my original post. I said:

1: It doesn't take Tori 12 years to make an album.

    2: Tori TOURS.

3: Tori is a much better piano player than Kate.

I think all three of those are indisputable points. Only the last one is a value judgment, and the evidence is strong as Tori was a classically trained piano prodigy while Kate is self-trained and can play well enough to accompany herself and compose.

  • Kate Bush didn't have to pay money for training--she was blessed, and had written hundreds of songs at the piano by the time she as 15 years old. So what if Tori tours? Who the hell cares? And who says an album has to be recorded in any specific time period? Kate Bush doesn't owe any one any thing, and thank God she does things her way.

  • @keithdeweese Because music gains in expression when performed live. If the album version was Kate's final statement, wouldn't that make her official video the only Babooshka video we should watch? Instead, we have this one, and the Dr Hook one, etc.

Kate revolutionized live performance. And (I believe) the fear that she couldn't do it twice kept her from even trying.

  • @keithdeweese nobody learns to play an instruement without any trainingwhatsoever, simply because of some mysterious 'gift'. Btw, Tori started to play piano (and to study it) when she was 5 years old... I think Kate Bush is pure genius, but I love that Tori (almost 50 yo) still gives the best of herself on stage. She is made to be heard, seen and touched: she never stops, even when she's tired and sweaty and exhausted. Doesn't this mean that she is 'blessed' too?

  • this is over 29 years young eh...think of that...and then tell me kate is not the Queen.,

  • Most modern female stars should learn from this. You don't need to walk around with greater than thou attitude, no pants and a Jip arsed boyfriend with knuckles dragging on the floor to be sexy. But most of all you need some FUCKING TALENT . Same with most male stars but thats another story.

  • kate no necesita de artificios en sus interpretaciones. ella sola con un contrabajo y es fantastica.

  • more talented and sexy than all todays so called stars.....why didn't you give us more kate?

  • Does it get any better than Kate Bush in tight pants?

    No.

  • There's nothing sexier than Kate Bush in tight trousers!

  • not tight but wonderfully thin (pants)

  • I'm not buying her claims that she never considered herself a sex symbol.

  • Kate knew that she was beautiful and that a lot of men were in love with her!

  • its only my opinion, i am not on drugs

  • is miss platnum a singing pig

  • i think the new version of miss platnum is much better.

  • are you on fucking drugs

  • SIMPLY KATE!

I gave tears for her genius and truth! and the voice is melting the ice of titanic´s death! ss (so sorry)

just about 100 years too late...oohps!

  • This womans work is just pure genius, I fell in love with Kate's music when I was 15, and the more you listen the more you grow to love it

  • Thanks for sharing this vid. :)

  • simply wonderful.

  • I get the weirdest feeling of deja vu when I watch this video..

  • I love 3:04. The left side is Kate the woman: beautiful, sweet. The right side is Kate the performer: beautiful, mad!

  • no no the right side is the mad wife, while on the left is the babooshka

because that's the story of this song, what it's about ;]

  • I know that but it also reminds me of the many different Kate Bush's! =]

  • WUNDERBAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One day this double bass will be in a museum and people will queue up to see it.

Why can't we all tell KT how much she means to us while weve still got her and she is still recording!

  • that's not a dress

  • You're right, it's a pants-suit. I'll correct it. I've always called it the "Red Dress" version dating back from when all we had in the US was awful, multi-generation "optical transfers" from PAL and the quality was so low that it looked like a dress.

  • haha yeah I was sort of wondering how you thought it was a dress when it was very clearly not, but I guess it makes sense now :)

love the song too, Kate Bush is a genious

  • One of these days I'll post one of our really horrible tapes just to show younger Kate fans what things were like back then. We'd trade to get a tape, and it would be a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy (you get the idea).

Now, one fan gets something and digitizes it and shares the digital copy with the world.

  • I am one of Kates younger fans! and I know what it's like, that's what you get for having copies of the videos you're talking about on tapes that have been half eaten!

  • @whatdeyecallher.Another young Kate fan.Long live Kate fans!

  • GREAT SINGER; GREAT VIDEO!!!!

  • Amazing, but you can so tell she is lip syncing.

    I love her though <3
