  • i'm a waitress and thankfully no one has ever walked out and not paid the bill. problem is i work during lunch shift. they get the cheapest stuff possible so they don't have to leave much of a tip (or in some cases none at all) even though i bust my ass for them. and servers normally make anywhere from $2-$3 an hour. the minimum you should tip is 15% but we don't mind if you leave more than that, especially if we busted ass.

  • you speak from great experience, not sure if you screw waiters over or are one

  • 3 walkouts in 2 months at red lobster and i got fired. company policy makes no sense at all.

  • this is so true !!!

  • I never get a appetizer or a dessert doesnt mean im not going to leave a tip. Just means I get full easy. lol heh...

  • @ShroomMasta2009 Same with me, I rarely order an appetizer and NEVER dessert. I get way too sick. I hardly ever order a drink either. Alcohol makes me tired, I drink water But I always tip at least 20% unless the service is questionable. And if I see the waiter or waitress is busting their hump (too many tables) I still tip well even if they can't get to me as often as I may need them.

  • Here's number 1 sign that a waiters not going to get a tip. When the waiter moves at about the same speed as a crippled tortoise, even making you wait for ages even when getting the bill.

  • I do not eat much because I get full fast. Also only drink water. lol...

  • Hey hey tipping is optional. Some waiters think we customers are being unfair, why do you think we come to restaurants. We dine out to get away from our troubles. Work, divource, fight, sickness, and so on. And what do we get after paying our legal bill. A sermon from an employee. Never ever talk personal with a customer. Why i came to eat with my gf and a skinny prick breaks the romance to remind one of us for a dinber worth tip.

  • @pakig4life you fucking ignorant moron servers only get paid about $2.83 an hr, after taxes a servers pay check usually says 0. All of their earnings are based off tips. You don't want to leave a tip you cheap bastard go to Mc Donald's

  • Jerk off. Seniors dont order much because they dont eat much. Its not because they are cheap. Its because they are old you young punk! Its southern red necks that never leave a dime!

  • the only time you should tip is if the waiter actually does something worth tipping if they just do what it says in thier job description then they dont deserve one but if they do somthing that they dont need to do then you should tip them

  • @pakig4life

    I always tip 20%

  • #1 reminded me of when they did that on That 70's Show.

  • ur right blacks bitch about everything they order and want free shit, its a disgrace to african americans everywhere it terrible.

  • I had my first walkout actually last night in Atlanta...fucker ran like a cheetah. Usian Bolt style.

  • or you move to australia where tips are not required

  • Never had any customer leave without paying the bill, you must work in a shitty town

  • YOU DONT TIP NEITHER ASSHOLE BITCH

  • i order water because i dont like soft drinks

  • This is why i somewhat hated dating or sleeping a waitress when i worked in the food industry.

They always loved to complain to me about their tables. I know it sucks hun, but i gotta deal with their stupidity too since im making their food. The back of the house has its downs too! I had to wait 5 hours to smoke a damn cigarette which sucked because my oxycodone buzz wore off during the rush!! So lets forget about it for now and fuck eachothers brains out, as i've been wanting to do all night!

  • DUDE you need to slap all your BLACK FRIENDS when they DON'T TIP when dining out. It's because of them that ALL BLACKS suffer humiliating stereotype.

  • @globalcitizen99 nobody should tip , tipping is bullshit nonsense

  • @edwardd6681 You must not have a lot of money then. I'm a waiter and I tip everybody. Even homeless people get a $5 spot. Tipping is for service. You see, you are paying for service. If you don't want to pay for service, don't go to places that offer service. I would insult you now, but feel that your life has insulted you enough already.

  • @thetoddsmith I have no money

  • fuck gratunity

  • @edwardd6681 EAT at KFC or Mc D, cheap demanding f^cking jerks like you should stay away from any full service restaurants for God sake.

  • @edwardd6681 ...and learning to spell

  • @edwardd6681 learn how to spell idiot!!

  • @kharper39 gratuity is bullshit

  • 10 is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I NEVER order appetizers or desserts, and most of the time order water and I always tip, as long as the service was good.

  • Everyone who goes to a restaurant in the USA knows or ought to know that waitstaff rely on tips for their living. Not tipping waitstaff (whose wages generally don't even cover their tax liabilities) is essentially similar to shoplifting or other pathetic petty crimes.

  • @offsprng46 some idiots STILL think thats us waiters get paid minimum hourly wage (7.25).

  • If I have a hot waitress, then she will get tipped 30%+ or so. If it's some dude that is cool and all, he will get over 20%. If it's some waitress or waiter that hardly comes to the table, or takes forever, they get 1 cent. It's a 2 way street. And of course if they are average they get 15%.

  • @JACKOTACO Why would you tip a "hot" waitress more? That's ridiculous, not to mention a pathetic and self-degrading act by someone who probably hasn't been laid since the Reagan administration. Likewise, if the service is slower than you would like, 99% of the time, it's not the fault of your waiter - with very rare exception, it is due to circumstances beyond their control. 15% is the absolute minimum anyone should EVER leave.

  • @offsprng46

    okay lol.

  • 11. you're black

  • @oracleofdelphire

and the point of this comment was? oh i get it....nothing

  • @BittyBug83 i've been watching a couple of these related videos on servers/tipping and he's commented the exact same thing on more than one of these videos. He's probably just so bored with life that he leaves ignorant comments in order to provoke a confrontation, IMO.

  • FUCK GRATUNITY

  • i always leave 15% - 20% tip no matter how small or big my bill is. But when the service is utter crap... it really makes it very difficult to tip my servers (especially if I ask for a drink refill and i have to wait until the end of the meal to get it)... but if they're nice, i'll probably give more than 20% because I do generally split my food with someone else (we live in a country called the US that serves more than 1 serving per meal, and that's not good for the waistline).

  • What about when they order hot water to "disenfect" the silverware? Thos eare usually the most difficult people and the worst tippers.

  • If you don't want to leave a tip then don't, but waiting for the waiter to leave is moronic, the waiter can't and won't chase you down because you didn't tip.

  • I never tip less than 40%. Servers work their butts off and deserve the bucks.

  • @JohnnySvedka That is funny your comment fits your video. Most Awesome Pranks vol.4 because clearly your comment is a prank

  • @kristalblair that is true... as long as ur around and haven't disappeared in the back for them to ask for u or if you know they need something and just drop it off and leave them be. there's a time where you can annoy them, but a time where ur not there enough... there's a fine line we have to walk. i usually average 21-24% tip before my tip-out since most people tip on tax.

  • Just curious, but why do you think you have so many walkouts? Is it the layout of the restaurant? The general clientele? The area the restaurant is in? Because the servers are always really busy and can't always see them go out? I worked as a server for a little over a year and never had a walkout but I assume it was because of the place's layout; you always had a clear view of the customer.

  • People order water for several reasons.

    1) your tea always sucks because the lazy waiters have not changed it out since before the lunch rush.

    2) because the tea sucks cause the restaurant just can't do it right

    3) because the tea sucks cause you have not cleaned out the ice machine in past six months and there is some funky shit growing in there

    4) Because they are on a diet and Water has fewer calories than diet soda.

    5) Because they like water

    6) They want to Annoy their shity waiter

  • @digmatology

I thought diet soda had 0 calories...how can water have less than 0? Or am i wrong?

  • @zanev if you seriously believe that a can of diet soda has less calories than water, then your surely are a sheeple lead around by the marketeers and advertisers.

  • @zanev Diet Soda usually says on it <1 Calorie meaning it still has more than waters 0 calorie.

  • I only skimmed this , but 4 is COMPLETE crap. People order water because:

    1) They don't feel like having mass manufactured, HFC infested sodas

    2) They don't want the caffeine of coffee or tea, or your coffee and tea sucks.

    3) They don't want the alcohol of beer, wine or spirits, and your list of all 3 may also be complete, humdrum bullshit, which is the case in 95% of establishments.

In my case, I would order a good beer 9/10 times if the beer list was worth half a shit, but it rarely is.

  • @bonapartist +1. I avoid HFCS myself but fizzy drinks are astoundingly bad value. It's unfortunate that servers derive so much of their tips from them when drinks are one of the things that servers should be putting the most effort in to. My own feeling is that tips should be abolished in favor of being paid properly like everyone else in the world. That said, I do tip since it's just the way things are done.

Also agree with beer. I've wanted a beer but gone to water because of poor beer menus

  • Usually when I go out ot eat if The restaurant isn't packed and I get bad service I'll tip but not as generously as I would have had I gotten good service. I'd understand bad or mediocre service if the restaurant is packed ; waitress/or is already in a mood from tending people who are senseless and dont tip at all, and they've to clean up if there are no busboys present plus runing 6-7 tables if not more at the same time however if its slow? WTF am I getting Bad Service?

  • i wonder how many times this guy had has his food spit on.

  • @kristalblair 18% is good. 20% is pretty much standard but 18% or 15% at a minimum is usually good

  • lol this is so true

  • First if all, I don't tip at a Buffet. I am doing all the walking and I am not paying you to bring me drinks because, let's face it you could easily put the drinks on the buffet too. Not my fault that you don't, if you work at a Buffet you should ask for minimum wage, instead of tip wages.

Second, if your presence or personality do not in some way enhance my dining experience, either thru good recommendation or exceptional service,no tip. I don't care if your fish died today.

  • This video basically just taught me how to get free food. AWESOME!

  • You know the problem isn't really people who don't tip right?

The problem is that waiters, and other people, don't earn shit. THAT'S what needs to be fixed, and unlike changing people's mentality, this is actually pretty fucking doable

  • I love you....

  • @coolarrow737 I know it may be hard to believe but black people aren't the ones who don't understand tipping. It is middle aged white women who make the server run around like a chicken with their head cut off that give the worst tips.

  • @crystalalyce not a racist comment at all. *sarcastic tone*

  • This is horrendous that as a society we allow this... you should have to leave your wallet at the door.

  • I'm a non conformist tipping nazi retard and pround

  • you also forgot, they'll run you back and forth... in and out of the kitchen.,...all over the restaurant enough to confuse you and claim you were "inattentive" , then have "legitimate" reason to stiff you. i dislike these kinds of people which i had to deal with tonight....3 times.

  • I never tip

  • But, I never order appetizers, dessert or drinks because they're expensive! I always leave a tip. Occasionally I'll get dessert, but usually it costs too much for one slice of cake or pie!

  • @ubiquitousfacts I feel the same way; that stuff is too expensive; I just get the entree and the salad that comes with it but I do tip about 30% to make up for the fact that I didn't really build any value to my meal.

the waiter then remembers me and he doesn't shit me around when I come into his restaurant in repeat visits.

  • Chris Tucker

  • I never tip my servers. Fuck them. I work them like dogs to help my self esteem. It feels good to do so. Thats their job. If they don't like it, I'll hit them in the head with a brick. Or I might get you fired. Servers beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @72281livefreeordie then you shouldnt live in america or go out to dinner because that is american costume and makes you a fucking loser criminal.

  • @iliveinacubicle BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA>:) I SHALL CONTINUE TO WORK THEM LIKE DOGS AND GIVE THEM NO BONES.

  • @72281livefreeordie You're a douche bag!

  • @72281livefreeordie Bitch bye I would dare you to come sit in my section and think I couldnt read you from the moment I saw your scum of the earth, non tipping ass sit down. Please, back in my day as a server, I could smell a non tipper from a mile away and I might have dropped your mozzarella sticks on the floor and still give you service with a smile. YOU FOOLS!! Especially REGULARS who dont tip.. like dude we know you dont tip, were in the back fighting over who has to serve you.

  • @rocawear2008 oh bitch please. if you don't like your job, thats your fucking problem!!! Quit!!! Thats the best advice I can give such a little thing like you. It's my money which means your entitled to shit. Just because I got bread does not mean I have to give it to the birds. At least until I lace it with Seltzer. Just because I got change doesn't mean I give it to the bum. Instead, I give the bums monopoly money.

  • if i want a meal i sit near the door and after feasting i run down the street without paying, i dont care once i fill my gut just saying thats how i roll

  • Waiters could get a real job where they don't need to rely on tips.

  • why are you suppose to tip? really why in this contract of payment for food should there be an additional charge?

  • @wcresponder you should tip your waiter because he gets paid nominal wages (like $2.13 to $2.33 an hour), and has to make it up in tips. Does the system suck? Perhaps. Should one get cerebral and indignant about it and take it out on the server by not leaving a tip? Not unless one is a cheap jerk.

  • @swwaddell why should you pay for normal to minimal service, shouldn't the servers fight for better wages? The customer has an agreement with the owner to pay for food and to be in thier facility, the owner and server have an agreement to work for a set wage. there is no agreement between server and diner. getting mad at a customer for not tipping is being just greedy. Saying don't eat out if you don't tip is equal to don't work there if you don't like the pay.

  • @wcresponder My response is really not getiing into the whole "Is the system fair?" and shouldn't the wait staff of the world fight for better wages thing even though it is a worthy discussion. The bottom line is that if one does not tip, they are seriously stiffing the waiter and frankly I wouldn't think much of someone who did that and papered over it with a bunch of logic-chopping about contracts.

  • @wcresponder :You're pretty stupid; if waiters were paid a living wage, all "on the books" the resulting FICA and tax payments would raise the price of your food by a minimum of 75%.

You are obviously someone that has never been exposed to the reality of being in business in your entire life.

  • @SatchmoSings really sad dude now your stalking me, get help.

  • @swwaddell I would think you'd answer does $2.33 suck as a wage ? Yes. But it still doesn't answer why the customer should take up the difference. Most of the servers I've ever had just made the $2.33 there was no effort to show they deserved or had earned more. If you don't make enough in life who do you usually turn to the government, thus the push to have the industry meet at least minimum wage requirement.

  • @swwaddell " @wcresponder " is a cheap jerk; he's made clear to me, on another page, the necessity of keeping as much of his own money in his own pocket as possible.

I very much doubt that he eats out much and with this attitude, the only relationships he has are with his horde of dough and his computer.

You can see a lengthy thread of our, uh, "discussion" HERE:

  • I worked at a restaurant where there was a 100 person family reunion and everyone got separate checks. There then walk out a couple at a time, pointing out who the would pay for and who they wouldn't. In the confusion only about a 1/4 of the people actually paid anything. I hate scammers. I don't know why people just can't work hard and be honest.

  • @mjpitche The restaurant owner was totally idiotic this way; if he knew that there would be such an event, he should have made clear to the party that perhaps ONE person should be responsible for the entire check or to at least insist that this be done by one person at each table being responsible for that one, single table.

If the people organizing the event refused to do this, then the restaurant owner should have told them to go elsewhere.

  • @SatchmoSings They all just walked in for the breakfast buffet unannounced. They had the scam all planned out and probably have done it tons of times. I am extremely honest and hard working so freeloaders like this always take me by surprise. It was a hotel so they were staying for the weekend and the family re-union part was actually other events that they paid for in advance. They just would steel breakfast and whatever else they could get their hands on.

  • @mjpitche Thank you for putting this in context; since they were all staying at the hotel and if they'd paid by credit card, the management, perhaps, could have just "tacked on something."

  • THANK SOMEONE FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT

  • Where did the 20% rule come from? (seriously, I'm not asking sarcastically). I was married to a server, and I've lived all across the country. I've always heard 12% to be the rule.

  • @MrBoondaba are you retarded? .. so your telling me 12% .. we arnt in the 80s anymore .. espeically since servers dont get minium wage . last time i was a server i got paid 4.23 and hour ... hmmm

  • @Madamara702 lol. Wow... so here's how percentages work: 12% of food that costs twice as much as it did in the 80s, is twice as much as it was in the 80s.

  • @LifeOcean

So how much does one "normally" tip in the US ?

  • 10%=bad service 15%=mediocre 20%= good service The only time you ever stiff is if the Waiter/Waitress purposely went out of his/her way to make sure you had a bad time or was completely negligent in their service to you. Know that many restaurants have a house charge, so when you stiff you actually make them pay the bill. In the past I put those receipts on the back board so everyone could see it and give that person bad service in the future.

  • Ok you need to pay your bill! do not steal! If your waiter is good or bad then give them the tip they deserve.

  • This is truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuth

  • ALSO: Be wary of the fucks that try flattering you from the very beginning. No, I'm not talking about the "verbal tip," I'm talking about when people act "too nice" or give you inane compliments. Could be an indication that they are planning to fuck you over, or walk out on the bill, so watch out when they try to butter you up.

  • I HATE NIGGERS IS PLACES THAT SERVE FOOD.

  • Is "dine and dash" that common a problem?

  • I get water every time I go out. Bite me

  • @ssgurgs9 I too, only drink water but I almost always leave enough of a tip to cover that I'd also bought a drink; as a regular in the neighborhood diner, this has worked out fantastically well.

  • i dont know why black people dont like to tip or leave awful tips its really irritating (not being racist) one time i had a 150 dollar tab and they left 3 dollars tip, while once i had a 200 dollar tab and they left no tip >:0 I MAKE TWO DOLLARS AN HOUR I RELY ON TIPS! :(

  • @TheWhiskeyZone i once drove a taxi and never recieved a tip from a black. NEVER. whites always tipped me and so did hispanics. i never had an asian rider so don't know about them, but I've heard they're cheap people or is just a bad stereotype. what is your take on this?

  • @powersamoan Hmmm... You weren't seeing a racial difference there bud. you're see a cultural. In many parts of the country society segregates people based on color so that many black people were raised in a different environment that other races. Social expectations also play a large role. There is no genetic code inside of black people that make them any cheaper than anyone else.

  • @BlakeAndGaile What the fuck are you babbling about man? Niggers never tip. Case closed.

  • @powersamoan I'm sorry. If you've gotta know my best friend is black and I know he tips when we go to lunch or take a cab. I sorry you didn't get tips as a taxi driver.

  • @powersamoan u mean jews

  • @yomamalikeme1 I cannot tell a Jew from a regular white. They are the same race aren't they? That facebook jew Zuckerberg looks just like a white guy.

  • it's not law so i decide when to tip, and when not to, i mean i do sometimes but not every time. just let it go.

  • where does it say that i have to tip all the time? why is it imposed upon me? if they feel they need my 3 dollars for just taking my plate from my table and refilling my drink... sometimes not even doing that until i'm ready to leave then i feel bad for them. i'm basically paying some of their pay check too and i'm not their boss, i owe them nothing, no one else gets a tip for doing a good job why should they? double standard like crazy.

  • @dmi3011 No one else gets tips? Bellboys, STRIPPERS, room service, and many more jobs offer tips. You don't want to tip? Then your 6.99 special is now 12.99. The point of tipping is to keep the meal more affordable. It's only 3 dollars as you said so if you complain 3 bucks is nothing leave the 3 bucks. Generally a paycheck is to cover mistakes that would come out of the pocket of the establishment. Don't think anything is free! Tip a penny if they were bad and 15% -20% if they were good.

  • this is america i choose if i want to tip or not, i will not be forced to. tips are for those who go beyond the call of their duty not for doing what their suppose to do.

  • @dmi3011 The job is to write down food and bring it! WE SERVE. WE PAMPER. WE GET PERSONAL. WE MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME. Hahaha if this is America then servers reserve the right to not serve you. Guess what boy we expect tips, like the government expects taxes.

  • i eat alone anyways so i don't feel they work enough on my behalf to tip, but i was raised to tip no matter what so sometimes i do and sometimes i don't tip, when i don't tip i just wait for the waiter to go away then i jet, but i only do that if I need the money i would've tipped with. besides it's not my job to pay you for doing your job well, that's your bosses job take it up with him.

  • @dmi3011

If you need the money u would've tipped with... then you sadly cannot afford dining out that evening. And it actually IS ur job to pay the server. Waitstaff makes apx $2.13 an hour, not to mention a percentage of their sales is given to the bussers, hosts, and bartenders. The servers u "jetted out on" actually LOST money by serving you. Might I suggest McDonalds for you?

  • @Joshco10 Joshco gets it I'm glad :)

  • @dmi3011 Do you not get that it's not the server's fault that you come in alone? If you dine alone, you're still obligated to tip - after all, if you hadn't come in by yourself, there's a chance that the server could have gotten sat with a larger (or at least more generous) party instead, so by not tipping, you've cheated them out of money twice. Congratulations, you're a multiple-offense jackass.

  • this is fucking awesome!!

  • Restaurants should have at least one table with good video recording techniques, along with an "expediter" who can go down to the police station to press charges and go to court, if necessary.

  • * I dont think anything can be more Rewarding and Frustrating at the same time then being a Waiter. Tips is good sometimes. I Tried it for literally 4 months and realized that high blood pressure and loosing my mind on impatient people is just not worth it. When people come in a Restaraunt for some reason they act dumb like they just stepped on Mars, and where here to take insults and critizism. In all honestly You fuck with us they fuck with your food end of Story. Ask any waitress/waiter. =)

  • Good video. Although sometimes I get drinks from the bar because I'm waiting for a table or friends. I still tip the bartender.

  • Nice video!!

  • How often does this happen? People do this? Unbelievable!

  • As a server myself, I appreciate you puttin this video up. I think cheap as peaplriqnd stiffers need to be put on blast. Thanks dude!

  • why is it mandatory for a tip? do you not get paid already? you are doing your job get over it.

  • @whyb3t It's mandatory for a tip because oftentimes, due to taxes that are placed assuming servers will be tipped, the tip is the only money a server will bring home.

  • @zelda12353

you honestly think that taxes are that high? this is america. americans compared to the rest of the developed world, pay much less in taxes. do a bit of research yeah?

oh and servers report how much they are tipped and more often then not they lie about it.

  • @whyb3t I realize taxes are different, but if I may reference sxephil, if I had a ten inch penis, and you had a four inch penis, and for some reason my penis shrunk down to six inches, you would be saying, well look what you have, it's more than mine, why should you be complaining? But you can understand why I would be upset because I now have something shittier than what I am used to.

  • @whyb3t Secondly, I understand they report how much they are tipped and lie so that they have more to bring home with them, but obviously they're not going to lie to their friends or whatever. The general information on the shitty tipping is spread by word of mouth usually, not by the bosses reporting it. Usually when people complain, they've got a decent reason for doing so.

  • @whyb3t Your so fucking stupid with absolutely no street-smarts at all; no one would work for minimum wage at such a job unless they also got tips.

Don't want to tip? Then the restaurant industry will have to pay a living wage to the waitstaff and that will jack up the restaurant's prices because now ALL that the waiter earns all has to be "on the books."

    You're obviously an idiot.

  • @SatchmoSings

no i think that you are the idiot. how pitiful to try to bring someone down because he or she does not agree with your idea. let me tell you that there are several other jobs that do not get tipped and still get payed the same shitty amount of money but they are not expecting an extra amount for their services.

i think that you sir have no street smarts. do you honestly think that they report all of their tips. no they report FAR less

  • @whyb3t Of course they report far less; THAT'S WHAT KEEPS THE PRICE OF THE FOOD DOWN!

Of course there are jobs that get the same base pay; waiters are supposedly a higher-quality worker.

  • @SatchmoSings hahaha that"s what keeps the price down? no.

what keeps the price down is demand. there is higher demand for cheap food. there is no profit in crap cheap food. it is the equilibrium price where there is the highest amount of profit.

  • u are clearly homosexual.

  • @bigleroygym lol

  • A new web based business is going after bad service with a TIPZERO (No Tip) for bad service, while educating and encouraging generous tips for those who meet or exceed expectations. Search tipzero.com on youtube to see our promo video. IT'S WORTH LOOKING AT!!!

  • I keep hearing people say, if you don't tip the waiter they will spit in your food. Well isn't that just more reason not to tip. If a waiter would do that then they aren't good enough to get my extra money. But I almost never go to sit down restaurants so I really don't care.By the way, does anyone tip barbers?

  • @Andjealous I've been in the restaurant industry for years now and I've NEVER seen a server spit in anyone's food or do any other kind of harm to someone's food, even when we KNOW we're going to get stiffed by the way the table treats us or a prior experience with those guests. People spitting in food is mostly a myth. But IMO if you don't tip you DESERVE spit in your food. We're not here to work for free. When you receive a service, you pay for it. Not tipping is like stealing.

  • @Renorei I worked in a restaurant too and I was told multiple times about horrible things done to food. Granted I never witnessed any of it but the bigger issue is that me not paying a gratuity isn't stealing. That's why it's called a gratuity. Since I have worked for tips I know that if you make below min wage they have to pay you that money. So whether I pay you or not you still get your money from your employer where it should have come from in the first place.

  • @Andjealous Not true in all cases, Andjealous. At my restaurant for instance I am required to "claim" at least 10% tips on my cash sales for each night, regardless of whether or not I actually made that. So it's possible that sometimes it "looks" like I made minimum wage when maybe I didn't. And no, the employer shouldn't be paying the wage. If servers got a flat minimum wage as their primary income the quality of service would suffer. That is the reason why waiters are paid with tips.

  • @Renorei Many servers in Asia do get a flat wage and service is better there, although I may be making a causation/correlation fallacy when I say that the point remains that that system already exists in other parts of the world with no real decline in performance.

  • @Andjealous And yes, it is like stealing. It is common knowledge that waiters make their living off tips and that a tip of 15% or more is standard. If you go into a restaurant aware of this information and still don't tip, you've basically stolen. What you’ve stolen is a service, and someone’s time. Obviously if waiters got a flat wage food prices would go up. So when you don't tip all you are paying for is food and not service, gaming the system and walking out paying less than they....

  • @Renorei I no longer have the time to argue this so here we go. First, you admitted that you do get min wage as long as there isn't what (appears) to amount to a math error and second I will continue to point out that a tip is a gratuity. Just because the management has tricked you into working for less isn't my problem it's yours. I apologize for being this callous, Why is it that yours is one of the only jobs that works like this?

  • @Andjealous You have absolutely no street smarts; if waiters didn't depend upon tips, then ALL their pay would then have to be "on the books" and this would make for the prices charged by a restaurant to double because of this extra cost.

That you're too stupid to figure this out shows precisely what an idiot you are and waiting tables isn't the only job that works like this; you're utterly retarded.

  • @SatchmoSings I'm not really sure how street smarts would enter into this but perhaps that's just more of my own stupidity. Either way I'm well aware that giving waiters a full wage will raise the cost of eating at that restaurant. I just think that's a better way for all parties. I still get food and the waiter has a solid salary and they don't have to worry about who tips and who doesn't. If the service were good many would probably still pay gratuity. What''s the problem with that?

  • and that's why I don't eat in restaurants because I am a cheapskate and I can't pay somebody paycheck, I am sorry.

  • @torontothegood don't be surprised if next time you go out and eat your, server spits on your food

  • That doesn't always want to pay
