i have a e36 m3 evo coupe which is chipped taking it from 312bhp which is standered to 335bhp plus its fully stripped out it eats mini's z3's z4's and most jap shit. The only good thing i can say about the z3 is that it was built for hair dressers or men that think there stuck in a womans body.

isn't this engine way too heavy in weight for such a roadster-like car? I prefer small but light engines in a car like this. Such as the Honda S2000... 4 cil 2.0 but 240 horsepower !!!

@NielsMF it's roughly the same weight as an e36, so if the engine was fine in the e36, it will sure be good enough in the Z. p.s. try both s2k and Z3 2.8i and see if u still like the honda better. ;) u'll see what i mean.

I drove an 2.8 an believe me it's slow for it's engine.

I now drive an MK4 Golf GTI chipped to 200PS and it's a lot quicker than the original 2.8 liter. have in mind that I have a 1.8 liter engine :D

And I know what I'm talking about, I drove the Z3. It's a lot of fun, better control in corners with the RWD. Don't get me wrong, i love it. But for a 2.8liter it's really not that quick

@torfsstijn my car does 0 to 60 in 6.3 ive done it. for a 98 inline 6 with 189hp stock thats damn good. ive beat two 350zs and there supposed to be faster..but remember bmw doesnt make cars to go fast in a straight line its a drivers car.

Haha 1/4 mile, I'll eat a'll you my mk4 gti with ONLY 200hp does it in 10.5 sec ;) beat that with your 325 RWD car ;)

@torfsstijn dude, don't insult our intelligence.. honestly.. you know what 10 seconds mean? as a rough estimation, the M3 V8 420bhp will do 1/4m in around 13sec. and you, in a 200bhp GTI will do it in 10.5.. come on! and if u want to see what a RWD 325 does with a 225bhp GTI, check my vids! ;) easy to talk on the internet, but post a vid and let us see a time!

Z3M's prior to 2000 had the S52 engine in the US and the S50 engine in Europe. The same engines the E36 M3 had, which can still shit all over Minis, and the Z3's are lighter cars. After 2000 the M's had the S54, same as the E46 M3.
