@CanadaDan1971 it might be better, but the star spangled banner was written at an important time in american history. By Francis Scott Key. He was on a ship, when he witnessed the american victory at fort mchenry, and he was inspired by our triumph. The song is a lyric poem.

@mrmusicisthefuture First off, thank you for taking the time to reply, but respectfully I have to disagree. It's a song about one battle in a war your country eventually lost. While it may be a power piece, it's just wrong as a national anthem. I mean no other country mentions rockets and bombs in it's national anthem.

Every time I hear American the Beautiful I think of what a beautiful country the US. Everything from snow capped mountain ranges, to deserts, to wetlands, from sea to shining sea

@CanadaDan1971 We did not lose the war of 1812. It was a draw due to the treaty of Ghent... Sure they came in and burned our capitol, but did you know that a tornado came and destroyed half of the british militia? call it an act of god. Have you ever been to America? Sat down at an American Baseball game or any other sport? Have you witnessed an American Flag retirement ceremony? If you have, then you should know why the Star Spangled banner is our National Anthem. We are very patriotic

I don't think war is heroic or noble unless an early grave is your idea of heroic and noble. The clip I'm sending you really sums it up for me.

Personally I think America The Beautiful is a much better. If you don't agree with me. That's fine. No one said we have to agree about everything.

War is the most magnificent competition man can indulge. It removes what is in base. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of man. Beauty is nothing compared to patriotism. Where has beauty gotten people? nowhere. Patriotism feeds the people. gives them hope.
