@TheSwisha420 Hi, that's the Variax, which is no longer in production, because it has been updated to the James Tyler Variax, but you can check out the information about it at line6 (dot) com/variax
@locusthorde91 It wouldn't be a true boost as much as stacking more gain onto your existing distortion but if you keep the distortion mix on the DM4 low and just increase the gain then yes, that would work.
I used to work for Line 6. I actually did a demo on that pedal the first time we showed it at NAMM, it's somewhere in the Harmony Central archives. Maybe. The guitar is a Variax 700, and the guy from 24 is actually Tim Pierce, who is an amazing guitar player, a session cat, and has worked for tons of people cutting hits including Rick Springfield.
i play more of tech death and and brutal death metal i get the best death metal patch with this dm4 guitar washburn with dimarzio x2n pickup and line6 spider3 amp trust me its awesome
If I want to have diferent setings on each footswitche is it posible? or if a put a overdrive level or bass or mids for one I have to keep it to the others?
The fuzz sounds kinda tame, the attack is sharp and does not sag/sing much like a good fuzz face will.
The OD sounds are decent, they would sound much better if used to add boost to an somewhat dirty sounding tube amp(like and ac15,5e3,etc)
Using pedals to drive lower powered amps over the edge is a killer sound, especially if you have an alnico magnet speaker, there'll be allot of depth to the sound...much more than from just the pedal into a clean amp.
Recently I got a Roland synth , but the only way to use it playing together with a distorted guitar(2 sounds)
Is a) Plug it to an effect board distortion pedal first and send final signal direct to the amp (clean channel) , ect. or
b) To plug to a different amp (2 amps playing.)
I never used any effects pedal since its is only the tube amp dist. Question is . Is it OK for the amp to use a distorted guitar signal from the input entry ? Cheers ?
That's fine. Most distortions won't clip your input on amps so you should be all good. If you start to hear clipping try lowering the gain on the distortion and bringing up the level on your amp to compensate.
it has a piezo pickup inside the bridge saddles like all variax guitars...it is nothing like a regular magnetic pickup, feels completely different and lifeless in my opinion
The Variax is a piezo based digital guitar and does not have magnetic pickups. Check out our Favorites and you can see James Taylor playing the Variax at the Obama Inaugural Celebration.
Line 6 came out with new digital modeling technology that bypasses the need for pickups altogether, they came out with a guitar that simply digitally models the sound of a guitar, and sends it through the cable to the amp!
does this have a MIDI IN?
Bflatest 2 months ago
"On the back you have stereo ins and outs" voiced over a picture of mono in and out. FAIL!
mutematt 3 months ago
@mutematt That's because they're TRS inputs, like the Inserts on a mixing board. You can plug a Y cable into it and split the signal L & R.

the guitar has no pickups?
0yavuz 3 months ago
@0yavuz its a line 6 guitar.it has pickups.you just cant see them
undergroundamericana 2 months ago
@0yavuz The older Variax guitars did NOT have pickups. Instead they modeled sounds out of a digital piezo pickup and bridge system.

@WASD9ox the only effect you can't add the noise gate to is the Jet Fuzz. All other FX/Presets can have it added.

Hold A and D footswitches and power up - the power is turned on and off on the modeler pedals by inserting a plug into the left mono input jack.

With the upper or lower harmonics on the fuzz it sounds decent.
The fuzz by itself is really tame though,no sag,no singing,no sponginess....the attack is too sharp and uni-dimensional
