US and NATO? You mean just NATO. US is a part of the NATO. The US does not stand above other NATO countries. NATO destroyed the Soviet Union? I can only see China, Vietnam, Cyprus governments are Communist which are working quite well at present.
US contribution is so high because it is the bigges country and it spends more on its army then on helping its people. If the US would spend about the same of its GNP on its army then that would change a lot and might (not sure it will) be of a benefit to its citizens. No the US is still not above the NATO. All countries are equal and in tradition the top military head in NATO is always American and the NATO president is always from a smaller country.
And you are right aswell to say that there are communist countries which are working quite well. But those countries still change a whole lot from the communisme in Russia during the cold war. There is more freedom (although still often heavily censured). I've been to both China and the US. In China you actualy hardly notice the communism. They've got as tight security and rediculous costums forms as the US :P

Well EU mostly cut the budget because after the cold war, a new larger scale war became unlikely and only smaller peacekeeping missions were necessary. good ad. not to turn anyone off to the AF- it's a great career no matter what you end up doing, with a few exceptions- but they don't let just anyone fly, let alone fly the most advanced system of flying technology ever. also, chances are, if you do get a flying afsc, which is unlikely as a non-rotc/usafa graduate, as it is the most in-demand specialty in the AF, you'll probably end up flying UAVs at some point; they're the way of the future. (don't forget you have to graduate college to fly)

listen bub, the US Air Force and US Navy fight for the same thing. They just have very different jobs. If it weren't for the Air Force's C-130 tankers or whatever, The F-18's would've crashed (landed). The US Air Force play's a vital role in refueling Navy planes.

The way I see it, the commercial targets people who like fast, dynamic sports - saying that flying a jet may be something for them as well. it is extreme! my afjrotc senior instructor is a retired Lt. Col. and he flew jets. omg hes not big or xtremely muscular, but at the age of 50 he could whip alota peoples asses. none of the cadets can out run him. he has great muscle tone. flying a fighter jet is apparently a lot like doing a hard work out especialy when pulling g's for awhile.

The reason why the u.s do not respect the Russia, they think the Russia is weak and sick, but they recovering with helps of China , which purchasing all the weapons, Gas and oil etc, And China is doing military exercises together so often, which is unheard of. US and NATO? You mean just NATO. US is a part of the NATO. The US does not stand above other NATO countries. NATO destroyed the Soviet Union? Not realy, communism is a nice idea in some ways, it just doesn't work and the Union was bound to fall appart. It does not directly have anything to do with the NATO which is nothing like the old Soviet Union. I can't bleam Russia for supporting China if the 2 help eachother. Its logical and the EU and US often do the same.

@EliteGhost001 you are right , u.s is part of NATO, but U.S is 100% above Nato as the u.s contribution is so high, as we can see NATO is nothing but a puppet of the U.S. Communism was not exercise properly, so we don't know it work or not, as the old soviet union was so corrupted to fight in the cold war, they put all their money in weapons development. I can only see China, Vietnam, Cyprus governments are Communist which are working quite well at present.

US contribution is so high because it is the bigges country and it spends more on its army then on helping its people. If the US would spend about the same of its GNP on its army then that would change a lot and might (not sure it will) be of a benefit to its citizens. No the US is still not above the NATO. All countries are equal and in tradition the top military head in NATO is always American and the NATO president is always from a smaller country.

And you are right aswell to say that there are communist countries which are working quite well. But those countries still change a whole lot from the communisme in Russia during the cold war. There is more freedom (although still often heavily censured). I've been to both China and the US. In China you actualy hardly notice the communism. They've got as tight security and rediculous costums forms as the US :P

I don't blaim the costums. They try their best to do their part in safety. Ok, well there we are :) Some of the US systems are stupid and so some European. Btw, when I came home from the US, the Dutch costums checked my moms passport and the guy said (by looking at it for 0.5 sec) happy birthday ma'm. So I was like: wow these guys are good! But then another costums guy looked up and said: wow, someone is awake today! It kinda ruined my whole opinion I just formed xD

So its ok if the US has a huge military and patrols the sea like their the world police and can invade a country at their will, but when another country has an upcomming army which excersizes a lot, its immediately hostile? While china and Russia exercise are soft power, this gain respect from many countries. Now with that I can agree. The NATO had my full support going after terrorists in Afghanistan under W. Bush. But I did not support the Iraq war. It was based on false statements. If the US had said: Sadam is a mass murderer who needs to be jutified I'd actualy be OK with it I guess. I also highly respect the US for actualy DOING something. Using their army. the EU (and definately my country) is always cutting the defence budget and waiting....

Well EU mostly cut the budget because after the cold war, a new larger scale war became unlikely and only smaller peacekeeping missions were necessary. Right now a lot of European countries are cutting defence budgets because of the financial situation. So did mine: byt 1/7th. 12.000 jobs lost, all our tanks and Cougar helicopters. Will prohibit me to join the army AGAIN. And I voted for these guys.... I've lost my faith in politics already...

@EliteGhost001 The cut back is very likely for the E.U as becoming united state of EUROPEAN, so no needs for that much military, but Britain and France wanting to be leader in Europe and following the united state, how ever, the real power in Europe is Germany, due to their economy and system. But Euro will dominate the high tech business for a while to come. Looks at Germany for example, their brands are so solid.

good ad. not to turn anyone off to the AF- it's a great career no matter what you end up doing, with a few exceptions- but they don't let just anyone fly, let alone fly the most advanced system of flying technology ever. also, chances are, if you do get a flying afsc, which is unlikely as a non-rotc/usafa graduate, as it is the most in-demand specialty in the AF, you'll probably end up flying UAVs at some point; they're the way of the future. (don't forget you have to graduate college to fly)

Regardless, do you think a soldier is any less aware of the fact that he's killed in a UAV than in, say, a heavy strategic bomber such as a B-52? With a UAV you can actually see your target, which is even more personal. Think through your comments before you post, please.

@Section014 Actually UAV predators do save lives. They give the soldiers on the ground a heads up on the battle field. Also they have a hellfire missile attached to it to take out terrorist. It has taken out some of the leaders also. Maybe you need to grow up if you are saying UAV's are hecka lame. Sure they are not fun to fly like a f15 eagle but it is not about fun in the military. It is about getting the job done.

listen bub, the US Air Force and US Navy fight for the same thing. They just have very different jobs. If it weren't for the Air Force's C-130 tankers or whatever, The F-18's would've crashed (landed). The US Air Force play's a vital role in refueling Navy planes.

I guess we see it differently. It's also has to do with a person's character. Some people apparently can assume that because others may do it well, then it must be easy. The way I see it, the commercial targets people who like fast, dynamic sports - saying that flying a jet may be something for them as well. I don't see how that would lead anyone to assume that becoming a jet pilot would be easy. It's common sense.

Well they aren't saying Skateboarding is like flying an F-22. What they are getting at, is that Skateboarding or kite boarding is considered on the extreme edge of sports. Just like the F-22 is on the extreme edge of fighters and airplanes in general. If you are into things that are extreme and getting your adrenaline going as a civie, maybe you'll like flying at 35,000 feet, going Mach 2?

everything required to become a usaf pilot is adjustable such as diet changes, exercise, and contact lens for 20/20 vision. they do show u skateboarding and wind surfing, people who do those things know the dangers and they do it anyway. they expect u to know the dangers of defending ur country as well. at least its good to know theres people who are too chickenshit to do awesome jobs. so the people who don't live in fear & rather not do a office job for a career, we'll get to do amazing things.

it is extreme! my afjrotc senior instructor is a retired Lt. Col. and he flew jets. omg hes not big or xtremely muscular, but at the age of 50 he could whip alota peoples asses. none of the cadets can out run him. he has great muscle tone. flying a fighter jet is apparently a lot like doing a hard work out especialy when pulling g's for awhile.
