I saw these guys live. pity you couldnt really hear what they were singing cos of all the Gals screaming. I remember getting their first release on casset when i was five for christmas. ive still got it. unfortunatly my middle of nowhere tape got ruined when i was listening to it in the car once. it was my fave album of theirs been so long now that i cant really remember it but this brings back so many memories
@justinsane61c i always figured it was about a kid who had killed himself. he disappeared and no one knows where he went... maybe the mother knows. "there's a lion in your silence" "sometimes i wonder maybe we're to blame"
This is the song that really gives me the creepy feeling and chills all over my body. Taylor's vocal ability is amazing... I'm 27 and always been a big fan of Hanson. Still remember I would be grounded by my parents cos I bought all those Teen Beat magazines just to have Hanson posters and pin-ups lol
@vampeee Hi, i''m jane, 30, from Ukraine. I''m although a big fan off HANSON since 1997 when i was 17... These guys all special, but when i listened Taylor''s voice - i was shoked. It was smth., magic, i wanted to listen theire music over and over.
@vampeee i''m too bought all magazines with them and they were on my walls... I was watching all hit- parades, gathering voices for them, kept them on 1 place long time... This song ones off my favorites, very passion...
I remember when I was like 13 14 years young and I loved Hanson with all my heart ... I'm just going through all the songs, artists and groups that were BIG back then ... This song was definately one of my faves.
I remember going to see them in an outdoor concert in Charlotte when I was 11 and I had such a horrible fever but it broke that morning lol. This song still gives me goosebumps! The teens now have no clue as to how great Hanson was growing up or any of the other boy bands from the 90's for that matter. I don't really listen to them much now but they were great back then!
Anyone else find an uncanny resemblance to Duran Duran's "Come Undone"? I got this CD when I was 13, and I still can't think of parting with it. I giggled like a little kid when I saw then in "Last Friday Night" recently! :)
i was OBSESSED with hason when i was 5. i am now 18. this was my first CD ever..i remember i loved this song cause it said my name haha, oh hanson how i miss you
i love the music and Taylor's voice in this song...i first listen to this song when i was like 7 or 8....and until now I'm still wondering where the hell did johnny go?by the way I'm 21 now..this song is haunting..it reminds me of my classmate who committed suicide when we're in 3rd year high school...
Used to be obsessed with this band... and they are still around and doing good. They weren't just some one hit wonder, these guys really are good. They don't get near enough credit and recognition.
I must admit I really liked their music when I was younger, this is one of their songs that stuck with me through the years. Something about it is just catchy, too bad they just kind of faded out I always thought they had a lot of potential.
@deepfreeze202 They're still around. They aren't in the mainstream anymore, but they're independent now, they got screwed over by their record company so they created their own. Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
I always thought, when I was little, that 'Johnny' committed suicide. Maybe one of those kids tthat got bullied to death.... =[ I know I was like, 12. Kinda scary.
@iluvuTMK I also heard this song that way too. One of my favorite books when I was twelve was this really sad book about a kid who got bullied, found one friend who then left him to his bullies when he was worried about a girl. The poor kid drowned himself, and right after I heard this song, so I totally made that connection whether its there or not. Wonder what they did mean by it when they wrote it...
I LOVE this song. For years me and my friend at school would play this song onthe school pianos. It was paticularly poignant for us being at school. They were so mature in their sound and lyrics and have stood the test of time. If you like this listen to more of their music.
This song is very haunting and I have never heard a song like this that mentions the disappearance of a troubled teenager. This song and "Weird" are a lot different than the other songs on this album. Just issues and thoughts not many people really think about until this song is being played. The new generation doesn't know who Hanson is, and it upsets me greatly. This song reminds me of what Pink Floyd would have done if they started around this age. I can never get tired of this band.
@reflectedsin I grew up with Hanson. I was 5 or 6 when this album came out and I have loved them since then. I also grew up with Pink Floyd in my house too.
@PeachykeenLNG Heh, that's what I thought. I always thought of Hanson as the Osmonds for the 90's generation. Very good songwriters for their age but certainly not on the level of Pink Floyd.
@vivahate100 Very much agreed! I loved Hanson in the 90's, their voices were very sweet and yes the writing was good, and obviously the publicist was even better (LOL) but to compare them to Pink Floyd is an embarrassment to artistry.
@PeachykeenLNG Well I just mentioned them both in the same paragraph. They are both very amazing bands. I grew up with Pink Floyd and then started getting into Hanson. It was a comparison. No reason to be rude.
@reflectedsin Wasn't trying to be rude, just saying they're definitely not on the same level! You said something about how Hanson was a younger Pink Floyd... :-/
@PeachykeenLNG Well to me you were and I don't appreciate that. I meant with this song in particular, they remind me of a younger version of Pink Floyd. That is my opinion. You have yours...leave it at that.
@reflectedsin There's plenty of songs that talk about this kind of subject matter, particually of this era - everything from Runaway Train by Soul Asylum to Jeremy by Pearl Jam. Hanson are very talented and Yearbook is a very good song. But they ain't no Pink Floyd.
Remember that kid in school, that was just a little different that nobody really talked too, because rumor had it he was nothing but trouble, The kind of kid that had a hard home life, where his mother was drunk all the time and daddy was gone. He had lots of secrets and one day he's just gone and then rumors start like: he's in jail, he died, etc etc, but nobody really knows what happened. There was always a kid like that in every school. That's Johnny.
@babykmaa1231 You're welcome :) My three older sisters were HUGE Hanson fans and I heard it for the first time when I was about six years old and I loved it! I asked one of them what it was about, then they told me :)
I loved this song when I was a kid. Tonight, I heard it for the first time in almost 10 year and I just couldn't believe it. It reminds me so much of a friend
@VioletS2Dream I had to comment on this the same thing still happens to this day for me. eerie song one of my favorite songs of all time up there with Baba O'Reilly the who, I wish by R. Kelly, American girl by Tom Petty
I just regognized again, how true the songs of Hanson are....I really have to say...Now, cos I'm back on their music (and yes I regret the time I went to other bands and 'forgot' Hanson for a too long time) I realize how much their music give me, everytime I hear it.
Doesn't matter which song...I start thinking about the sense of it, like Yearbook, for example, because, I went through something like that by myself
@poeticnerd1990 I think the nice thing about this song is that everyone has a different idea about it, and because of that also a different way of listening to it
I really want to know what happend to Johnny. But I absolutly love this song. I can't find my one CD so I'm glad I can find these songs on youtube. XD
I was in 9th grade when they were super big. Listening to this again reminds me of how talented they are. They were so young when they made this fantastic CD.

I've always LOVED Hanson!! Way more talented than the Jonas Bros! I wish they'd get the recognition they've always deserved! This song is amazing!

@poeticnerd1990 I think the nice thing about this song is that everyone has a different idea about it, and because of that also a different way of listening to it

Hanson is super talented.
I was in 9th grade when they were super big. Listening to this again reminds me of how talented they are. They were so young when they made this fantastic CD.
