Mikeishere1st, I suggest starting your actual research into factual ice science by visiting the National Snow and Ice Data Center website. where it says, "Examination of the long-term satellite record dating back to 1979 and earlier records dating back to the 1950s indicate that spring melt seasons have started earlier and continued for a longer period throughout the year." Sea ice melting won't cause the sea to rise, but it will compound the problem. Ice reflects heat, water doesn't do as well

Try looking at REAL DATA. Google: JAXA SEA ICE then click on a link to page seaice_extent(dot)htm that shows Arctic sea ice INCREASING for the last two years. Phil Jones (CRU) admitted that there has been no statistically significant global warming since 1995. Jason/Topex sea height buoy network shows NO increase in rate of sea level rise, (been rising for over 8000 years).

You still have zero physical evidence to support the theory that human CO2 causes catastrophic global warming.

BTW - the ANGLE sunlight contacts surface of the earth at the poles precludes much difference between the reflectivity of open water & ice. Look toward the sun over water an hour before sunset - hello GLARE!

Plus, whether it bounces back toward the sun from ice or glances off the surface of open water doesn't make much difference because, at those shallow angles, the sunlight already traveled through a whole heck of a lot more atmosphere than @ equator so most IR was already absorbed.

High CO2 levels are fine for SOME plant species, but the global warming that comes with it also brings exploding insect populations and weather patterns such as drought and torrential rains that are bad for agriculture.

Plus, the coral in the world's oceans is rapidly dying from the warmer temperatures and acidity caused by CO2 dissolved in the water. No coral, no fish.

'Acidity"? The ocean is & will remain alkaline no matter how much CO2 is dissolved into it. You don't seem to know what you're talking about. As for CO2 - you are wrong.. MOST ALL plants do better with more CO2 than there is now. Most plant species evolved bathed in WAY more CO2. When plants first appeared on earth CO2 was well over 10 times what it is now, (and I bet there was coral in the sea too!) Ask a commercial greenhouse operator how much they pump up CO2 to increase profit.

No anoniab, plants converting CO2 to O2 is called photosynthesis, not symbiosis. Symbiosis is the exchange of oil company money for bad science to third-rate scientists to disprove actual long-term scientific studies on GLOBAL climate change.

Go to the Science Daily website and search "High Carbon Dioxide Levels Can Retard Plant Growth" I prefer to rely on solid science instead of the media or oil lobbyists.

anoniab, sorry I misunderstood you. Still, humans produce 35 Billion Tons of extra CO2/year. Plants can only absorb so much of this. Human activity adds 35/5.26 = 6.65 ppm to the yearly global CO2 budget. Global CO2 is now rising at 2.6 ppm per year. The Earth isn't a perfect sponge, but still re-adsorbs 60% of our emissions or 4 ppm per year! Careful inventory says the Earth absorbs only 50%.

Now, add methane being released in large amounts from thawing tundra and things get interesting.

Sugar + energy - heard a connection there? We eat sugar as an energy source. But when we've had enough, it turns to fat and is not used for energy unless you stop eating sugar.

Same thing for plants - of course they need CO2, but after a certain level however much CO2 you pump at them, the biomass won't change. There's other limiting factors at play.

In simple words:

CO2 = plant growth x 1

CO2 x 2 = plant growth x 1

Water vapor cycles constantly so if humans force some water vapor into the atmosphere it'll get rained down quickly. Water vapor increases cloud cover which increases the atmosphere's reflectivity, so even while in the atmosphere its greenhouse effect is lessened.
