  • @TrudiAnn1106 Sorry *Greg Phillinganes

  • @Blk57125 thanx much!!!!

  • I hate to sound like a broken record but they truly don't make music like this anymore. Give me my old school. REALITY STEPS INTO VIEW! SING YOUR SONG GURL! FOREVER A FAN.

  • All time favorite

  • I'm a man and this is one of my favorite songs...great meaning

  • Absolutely great song..with so much meaning.

  • chicken skin already!! whew what a voice! blown away!!!!!!

  • The piano solo DAMN

  • So touching........

  • I remember coming home from track practice while in high school and my mother would be sitting in her chair with this on the stereo which I heard when I was coming up the drive way. I would stand in the door way of the kitchen and living room watching her as she sat in the candle lit room singing the mess out of this song. She would motion for me to come over, sit me on her lap and rock back and forth. I know where I get that romantic side and voice from. I love you momma.

  • I still do not understand why she went to jail that confused me how could a woman like her with such a gift end up in trouble ...

  • @MegaBesomeone

your right, but sometimes the person we see as artists are very different in their personal life. She is a great performer and a very talented person but maybe her life was out of control.

  • Beautiful:)

  • Anita's story and the piano solo makes this a fantastic fairy tale.

  • Love this song and the long piano thingy at the end.

can you understand that French thingy I sent you , babes ? xx

  • Anita's #1 Fan....much luv!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ms. Anita Baker said it right when she said that store ends the store is true because it is a fairy tales much come to an end because there is no such thing call love.

  • Anita is my favorite singer.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH LIKE IF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY

  • im young so i just heard of her nd she reall good i sing but i have stage fright

  • This woman was classy, sexy and just beautiful. Someone said of the video I apologize: We saw nothing but legs and arms and it was still erotic but tasteful. I would love to see another lady artist with such class!

  • The version on her greatest hits has the piano solo cut out. Gimmee a break. Like removing the fourth quarter on a recording of the super bowl.

  • I'm so glad that she quit her day job!!!

  • my 3rd favorite song by Anita, after Good Love and Talk To Me. when i first was listening to this song (i was 4,5 yrs old) i luvved the lyrics talking about princes, spells, etc., but i didnt understand the metaphores. a few years later i got it and it made the song that much better even tho i still didnt truly understand the emotion and enlightenment behind the song until a few years ago. anyway, i always luvv Anita's voice. I grew up listening to her, and ill still listen to when i get old

  • Killer song! Bitter-sweet...Teach Anita!

  • Sounds like my marraige which is over!

  • This lovely Songstress had to live this song as she had to endure the "toxicity" of insult and unpleasantness in her own marriage, I hope she has found a loving relationship that is deserving of the all the compassion and love in which she embody's. And the person tickling the Ivory on this tune played it "SINISTER" you can feel the dream become disheartening with every re-frame, as he puts some stank on it to the very end that Anita holler, oh Lord.

  • This song's the shit here!

  • SLAY IT!!! WERK BEETCH!! YAAASSS!

  • That piano player is a BAD MAN!!!!

  • Classic Nita! And the piano player gets LOOSE at the end! Awesome!

  • @Escobarb2007 ...true that piano player is no joke. The drummer is bad-ass too. My son is a pro player, and it's not easy to hit them skins like that. Mad Skillz!

  • damn wat ever happen to them good old days

  • Required listening for ALL...

  • Required listening for ALL women ...

  • Man. the story of my life.....

  • I JUST broke up with who I thought was THE perfect man. This song goes great with tears.....

  • @steppate79 There are no perfect people... But keep looking for your love. He's looking for you too.

  • @aviator408

    you promise?

  • @southernbosslady Cross my heart ... :-)

  • Queen of 80's Soul

  • doing dinner with friend of mine last week and we were talking about classic songs, this song is definitely takes me back. What a great story it tells.

  • classic

  • someone should've played this song for me at 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21. wouldda saved me the trouble of all this mess i'm in now at 22!

  • we left paradise a long time ago...when Adam bit that apple. It's an illusion to think that paradise can be found now.

  • Keyboard player gets LOOSE at the end! Yeah!!!

  • This is classic Anita Baker! She was at her absolute best when she did this number. Don't know if you knew but she went thru a bitter divorce, I think this is why her style changed, her latest hits are nothing like this! Girlfriend let me have it with this entire albumn! Anita can take you so high and evr so low, this is why I like the versatility of her range....sing to me baby! This albumn will be a hard act to follow!

  • I love this- I'd love to read the lyrics. For those of us whose love is lost, life is hell yet this is consolation. Love you, girl- you hit the right notes. Message sent, message received. Thank you.

  • Anita you make sound good, girl!

  • Funkiest piano break ever. The whole song is fantastic, but the end...just epic.

  • i love you miss baker

  • the musicians were having a jam session!

  • This is one of those songs u loved as a child but don't understand until ur an adult.

  • Real and true! Love Anita Baker forever!

  • i can make love all day and nite

  • Ms. Anita represents for us, altos. one of my faves by her

  • damn she can have my son anytime

  • Fairy Tales, that to which we may only be left to entertain and not "necessarily less than" what perception leaves to the understanding! It's not what we know, but what we can prove, as snapping our fingers would reflect that positive groove! Lusciousblkman0049

  • @2damnfunny Deep indeed!

  • One of my Favorite songs. I love Anita and the way she sang this song. She is an awesome Alto! Thank you for posting!

  • Yeah, there are no fairy tales in real life, and she lets you know that too. So very nicely sung, and this is one of my all time favs by Mrs. Anita Baker. We are soooo very proud of you. Keep singing to us, always.

  • My FAVORITE song by Ms. Anita Baker, this woman is LEGENDARY.

  • I can distinctly remember being four years old, during early 1991... and I'm in the car with my aunt. We were at the drive-thru of Arby's, and she's getting me a cherry turnover as this song is playing on the radio (Dallas's K104)... Funny, the things you remember, huh?! ;-)

  • @gameshowluvr86 k104 sucks , 97.9 the beat is whats up. Im suprised this song was not heared on 105.7??? Good song though.

  • @dontrustwhiteyever1 It is, I live in Fort Worth and they play it all the time on 105.7, and on 94.5...:)

  • @gameshowluvr86 I was born in 91! shout out!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I remember when she sung this on The Mo'nique Show! She had the penthouse rocking! This woman talent is amazing!

  • ....reality steps into view...... you get tangled...... weave to make a beautiful tapestry.... labor of love, tears and pain......

  • When I listen to this, it's just so real...

  • Excellent vocal with good harmonics and words. Also great piano. In life one can never tell the depth of the well by the length of the handle on the pump.......People and things are so often not what they seem to be.

  • anita genuflect to the piano at 6:31 her story is carried by the piano

  • my favorite

  • this is the very reality that mothers need to teach their daughters. I was obsessed with the fairy tale of life, and once I thought I had it I realized that nothing is as it seems. And ALL HUMANS are capable of anything. Never hold someone on a higher pedestal than your own life. They will take it for granted.

  • @chattowifey So true...

  • @chattowifey

I hear ya - I think I learned the hard way that the "fairy tale" life didn't exist around age 17. "No iving' in paradise, no fairy tales..."

  • @chattowifey yes, say it say it...I also teach my son "super man is not coming" from the movie "super is not coming' If you think someone else is going to do it...you will be disappointed all your life.

On the same note... Unfortunately some Churches have put out a harmful message...that there is a super man who is coming to save them ( no I am not talking in a spiritual way), I mean everyday life...as a result many never fulfill what God really had intended for them...life lesson.

  • @chattowifey 4 sho

  • @chattowifey Wise words this is truly a lesson of life song- wake up take responsibility and pay it forward

  • @chattowifey YES !!! and it's funny because at 1st I didn't understand why my older sister said shes not telling her girls fairy tales I was like wow shes taking it too far but now that I'm older I understand 100% and I'm happily married for 7 years and its a job everyday to say this way and I have one of the best husbands in the world but as far as the fairy tails I wish she would of told me the truth...:)

  • @chattowifey capable of anything ?? i think not.

  • @chattowifey I was listening to a comedian say: Straight women...your problem is that you have the fairy tale expectation and gay guys, we understand how men are so if he turns into a frog after we marry him, we expect it! So sad but true!

  • @chattowifey I couldn't agree with you more!

  • I agree with nightnurse49, from a former night nurse I could not have said it better and Anita sung the truth that's just reality which can sometimes be a bitch.

  • ....and what’s more....this song is 7:58 minutes long and every time I hear it, I never want it to end!!!!

    LOL

  • You know....this song could have been a slow ballad as well...but the musical arrangement on this song fits the lyrics perfectly!!!!!

  • this is the definition of a masterpiece.....Anita singing like only she can....and brother greg on that dang piano..he should be taken out and shot...it just dont make no earthly sense to be able to tear into a piano like that..................

  • thank you so much for posting this. i love this song and especially anita. that woman brings tears to my eyes

  • the piano and here voice are like haven

  • im 12 nd i listen ta dis song lik im 40

  • take hold of the piano solo at the end of this, just hits you hard and good.love it

  • When this song comes on my music system I can't just listen to it JUST once noooo............. . 8-10 times later I can move onto the next song. ;-) I LOVE SONGS THAT TELLS A STORY With singer who can sing it without all the "LOOK WHAT MY VOICE CAN DO CRAP". All great singers let the song / words "do" the work, their just there to give it a voice.. This song has a start, a middle and a end like all good stories should. Now please excuse me while I listen to this yet again. :-)

  • love this song it speaks about reality

  • There should and needs to be a LOVE button!

  • @nightnurse49 very very true my sister

  • Just love the piano playing on this tune, so bad.

  • @valreshel yes yes indeed that is my favorite part,oh how i wich i could play the piano

  • @2damnfunny

Thank You so very Much for the Post of this Classic we will play it on OUR Station / Channel ALL in your Honor.

  • my wife loves this song so much that i started to like this song to great song

  • this song is so great on so many levels I remember when I grew up and realized how true this song was

  • Can anyone tell me who did the piano solo at the end of the song? I've heard that it is a dude named Greg Phillinganes (not sure about the spelling)

  • @BigBabysDaddy - It's Greg Phillinganes. He's a very prolific musician who has a resume a mile long. You name the artist, Greg has probably worked with them in performance or writing or both. And as I have written before, he's a great guy as well.

  • The lyrics are.. No longer living lies. Thanks for posting.

  • Woooooooooo!!!!! My girl!!! My favorite by her!

  • Anita simply just opens her mouth...and SINGS better than no other! An instrument foreal! "The story ends..as stories do".....So much emotion! One my all time faves!

  • anyone tell me what album is this track taking from?

  • @seasondrummer Compositions. Loved it then and love it now. :)

  • @seasondrummer Compositions. Loved it then and love it now. :)

  • beautiful, soulfull

  • amo muito isso tudo..........

  • And you know what? The fairy tales go on. Have you seen the beauty pageants for babies? Tiaras for, yes, more princesses. What happens when the tiaras stop?

Don't you love the "She never said...." lines. "Prince never saved....reality comes into view....no more livin' lies in paradise." Now, you want to talk about somethin goin' hawd. Agreed, The beat is perfect. In fact the whole song is, as sung by Ms Anita.

  • I MEAN DON'T THIS JUST GO HARD! WHHHEW! LISTEN AT THIS BEAT AND HOW THEM INSTRUMENTS MATCH TIT FOR TAT! SANG BABY

  • HEY! OOOOW! LOVE THIS DAMN SONG! I MEAN THIS BEAT JUST GO HARD! SANG GURL!

  • As a 11 year old yhud expect that i dont listen to this... but this here... the original r and b .... is my music. not this new crazy stuff bout booty bouncin nnd stuff... this is real

  • i love the fact that im 14 and enjoy this type of music and just brush away the music of my generation

  • @borntoperform96 good for you that you know what real music is. I'm 27 and i hate that i didn't appreciate it at 14! this do go hard all day!

  • Kocham

  • Anita Baker is my all time favorite love song artist... she has the absolute most sweetest sound... love her music!!!!

  • It's funny how this song came out when I was born and I love it. The end is my favorite part. I play this in my car and my classmate look at me funny. It doesn't matter.

  • @nightnurse49 It's so funny you say that because I was thinking the same thing.....no more living in fairy tales that aren't real. Make yourself happy in your own reality. Make your dreams come true for yourself. Great comment.

  • @2damnfunny thank u, but it's still a great song by a great singer. peace

  • This song can be a two way street- sometime we men think that we have found our princess and she turns out to be the evil queen with the poison apple.

  • Thank you for posting this solo I couldn't find this anywhere....

  • @daniels245 Your welcome.

  • " you never came to save me...you let me stand alone....

  • one of my favorite Baker songs

  • @MJsPYT15 Its best for us to learn at young ages:]

  • One of the greatest songs ever sung...

  • YOU NEVER CAME TO SAVE ME..........

  • i use to think he was a dream, he turned out to be a nightmare

  • @damnedgenericname You sure said it! Amen!

  • Beautiful. I once loved this song so much until I got the Fairy Tale. I hope all of you find your love.

  • @ggnelson1217 This is the 2nd disrespectful message you have left on my video.

For Black History Month, you have been blocked!

  • one of my all times favourite song and artist. reality steps into view.....no longer living life in paradise.......no fairytails!

  • @damnedgenericname If it was to be made by producer J Dilla (who is sadly not with us on this earth anymore), it probably would been proper. Maybe another one called 9th wonder. But otherwise, totally agree, this should be left untouched.

  • @Gietmarenou im sure dilla would have did it justice

  • as a kid, for some reason, this song seemed sad and creepy.

  • Comment removed

  • A Sexy Woman. And the ultimate lady. Giving a face to modern soul. Never stop.

  • THAT POOR PIANO!

  • Anita kills all her songs and yes I saw the M'onque show and she did kill it ! What else would you expect?????????????

  • this somg reminds me of my husband in a way

  • Anita killed this song on The Mo'Nique Show!!!!

  • I wonder if Greg was the one playing the piano at the end of "I apologize" for anita baker...If you listen to the album cut(not on youtube) it has a piano solo to end the song and I love it as much as this one

  • @damnedgenericname i gotta sample this one.. I'll do it wit class tho. ;)

  • Classy lady, wonderful tune. That pianist! Enjoy :)

  • @damnedgenericname this is why i reacted the way i reacted. i thought you were one of those cats talking shyt bout the music but i definitely understand where you're coming from. and yes people can actually resolve differences without resorting to bullshyt internet beef. real recognize real...

  • @damnedgenericname i've been seeing a lot of talk on youtube from people talkin shyt bout hip hop n samplin. i agree there's been alot of bullshyt remakes n remixes. but real hip hop is as legitimate an art form as gospel, blues, funk, jazz, classical, country, techno, i can go on n on. people r quick 2 talk shyt bout hip hop yet they fail 2 look at da actual real issue, commercially hi-jacked music which corrupts all music. instead of blamin a scapegoat call it wat it really is, people !!!

  • @damnedgenericname & @lanigirod

Glad to see you two make up.

  • @2damnfunny we jus both very adamant music heads. good music is good music and i'll defend it like a relative. anyone who loves good music would do the same.

  • @damnedgenericname it sounded like you hated hip hop at first. i didn't call you an asshole. i said you sounded like one but we actually agree more then we disagree. i apologize for our miscommunication. yeah certain songs should not be touched but at the same time, someone might remake this song and make a classic. any future remakes of this song won't take anything away from this classic song. music is a balance of inspiration and innovation.

  • @damnedgenericname i agree that alot of remixes, remakes shouldn't be done. but how about Smokey Robinson, D'angelo's Cruisin'. we should support the artist who actually have the skill to keep old classic alive in the memories of todays youth and who are also good enough to innovate on their own. damn, now i'm sounding old. but as long as you're specific when you talk about music you won't sound like an uneducated hating ass critic.

  • @damnedgenericname why do you hate hip hop...? with any form of music there's good and there's bad music. you shouldn't generalize when you talk about music. be specific. you sound like an uneducated asshole.

  • @damnedgenericname There is... Gravediggaz... "Fairytalez" 1997

  • @damnedgenericname There is... Gravediggaz... "Fairytalez" 1997

  • i love this song,,,, sing

  • Incredible. That piano...!!

  • @basses6 if u look just above that comment u'll see i corrected myself. :-)

  • So, it's George Duke on piano. I have never heard him play better.

  • Who is this piano player?????
