ya gotta love a bawl mouth coonhound, its not a howl, thats his bark, its called a bawl, and most blueticks bark like that, very rarely do you find a bluetick with a chop mouth.
That's funny and cute how he hops every time he barks :D I used to have a neighbor who had a redbone coonhound that barked incessantly just like this one, and just barked at nothing. Poor thing just sat in the yard all day with nothing to do. I think he was just bored and needed a buddy.
I just met one today on Jupiter Beach and I have to say they have the coolest bark. I just posted this on my Facebook page. Maxwell, my Scottie mix, enjoyed playing with her.
@TheMango121 Well the fact is that 'Hicks' use the dogs to do what they are genetically designed to do.. that would be to hunt. . And get this.. being a 'hick' myself I'll clue you city 'boy' in.. ( here's the good part ) If the coon is up a tree then how can the dog get to it to 'rip it to shreds'? Dogs don't normally climb trees, at least no dogs that I've ever seen. How about you, do you have 'tree climbing' dogs where you come from?
@TheMango121 Well I guess you're just hanging with the wrong crowd.. Mostly my Dad and his friends just let the dog go to tree, they don't shoot the coon because there's no point, we don't eat them. And they don't let the dogs kill them either.. You need to get a new set of huntin buds
I agree with Fruitloop not all (or even a majority) of raccoon hunters hunt in that way, most dogs arn't used to be a catcher. As for the reason no its not to eat or for the hide, but when you have a garden that gets raided every night and thats your lively hood or even your personal food source that is being eaten I bet yould do what it took to get them away too.
@TheMango121 When you shoot the coon out of the tree it SHOULD be a kill shot, and the reason they let the dogs bite on it is to reward them....If your dad stands 100 yards away from you with a baseball and you were trained to really get that baseball and love it and hunt for it, and your dad tells you to come get the ball, you'd expect him to let you play with it, not let you get it then take it from you..
Cool! I just got a Aussie Blue Heeler/Bluetick cross! He's only 8 weeks old, and anyone's guess who he takes after more (both parents are blue:)), but the other day he was doing his little puppy bark at the neighbour's dogs, little puppy "arf arf!" when out of nowhere this beautiful (although as you can imagine very puppy-ish) "awrooooo!) came out of nowhere. I think he startled himself when he did it! I thought his dad would be so proud:) Beautiful dogs these bluetick coonhounds.
I agree. My neighbors always complained and called the cops on our Walker. I love the bark. He died back in January. I miss it! Some people just dont stop to appreciate the some things. It's sad.
So why in the world are you watching a video of a HOUND HOWLING?! I don't get chronic whiners like you... Talk to the owners - any responsible dog owner will listen to a neighbour if approached in a civil fashion - we all want our dogs to be good citizens for everyone's sake...

Our Bluetick would clear that fence in one shot :) We had to build onto our 6' fence and make it higher as she's always climbing and jumping over it.
I love those dogs :)

@mudguts our blue tick would be UNDER that fence in about 10 seconds. they can be a pain but you cant beat em

Great dogs... Too bad hicks use them to chase a stupid raccoon up a tree just to rip it apart for no reason.

@Fruitloop186
I have been coon hunting and I seen what that "sport" is first hand.
Tree coon
Shoot coon in the ass
Watch 4 dogs kill it....
There is NO reason to coon hunt anymore. Hides are worthless and coon meat taste like shit.
Now there is nothing wrong with deer hunting. Organic meat and fun to do.
I dislike any hunting that puts ones pet at risk, other then the prey you hunt;
I.E Bear/coon hunting.
I enjoy hunting rabbit with beagles but we EAT the rabbit.. Not let dogs shred it.

@Fruitloop186
Look up youtube videos on it.... You are just "chasing" them during chasing season.
Thats when you send the dogs to "chase" them but no killing.
Now when full fledged coon season comes in... They practically torture the animal... Its disgusting.'
Look up coon hunting... on youtube... You will see how barbaric it is.

Not really. Coon hounds bawl on trail and short chop bark when treed. They don't always hunt in a pack.
