The reason he is all messed up is because they had to rebuilt him again once he was destroyed by Cain and company when Robocop payed them a visit at the abandoned construction site. Robocop was then disassembled and the pieces were then left in front of the Detroit Police Station.

Dr. Juliette Faxx then pretty much messes up Robocop's system making more friendly and weird like.

Once they pulled that "They made this to honor him," I stopped caring. Sure, it's a pretty deep plot angle, but it went unresolved, and I don't give a crap about Robocop. I care about Alex Murphy! That's why the ending to the first movie was so cool.

Actually, that's one thing I liked about that goofy Alpha Commando cartoon. He stopped acknowledging himself as a robot altogether. Too bad he also tried to imitate Jay Leno.

The lawyer was threatening murphy in robocop 2 because he had been stalking his ex-wife. If murphy hadnt said what he had to say to his ex-wife in order to appease her and the lawyer there could have been legal repercutions that might have resulted in his shutdown. Even if murphy did care he had to play it safe to watch his own skin and lie to his ex-wife.

Honestly, if I were Murphy, I'd rather be shutdown than tell my wife that I don't love her anymore. Sure Robo's trying to make sure he can keep doing his job, keeing the peace, but that emotional turmoil is deep as hell. The movie owed us greater closure on the issue than some dumb lawyer's word and a couple melancholy quips.

Heck, you can tell, even his wife didn't really buy it. I'd be taking OCP through hell after that if I was her!
