Abbath reminds me of quorthon or Dan swano.

For example the way quorthon had that sideproject colled "Quorthion£ which was not black nor viking, it was hard rock/heavy metal. Or chuck Shuldiner from death with his Control Denied, again great band, different sound from his original but great. Abbath moved a bit from immortal creating a less black and more heavy sound. Abbath is a great musician and knows how to vary his style, comperable even to Quorthon or Chuck Shuldiner.

That's what I like about Immortal - they weren't just another "satanic black metal band". It got to be old after awhile (all of the bm bands having the same theme, or even sound)-- Immortal has always been their own band, made their own sound.
