  • I wonder if this will or will not come to america like virtual on where some did or did not

  • With an awesome touch screen game like this, any Nintendo fan would hope that this game would be ported to Wii U since RINGEDGE is simluar in power. But it ain't happening because SEGA's scrapping RINGEDGE for something more powerful and techinical superior.

  • Wow... this game looks awesome... why for I can't has?

  • =.='' it like cosmic break but not moe(lol both even have *Break* in there name)

but i take overpower and great and cool looking robots any day :D

  • I would like to have this one subbed.

  • I miss playing this game =(

  • too expensive .. I lost too much money playing this

  • SEGA!!

  • Oh man, this looks so great! Like Virtual On meets Outtrigger. It's so weird to see Sega making games of their old-school ilk again... I really hope that they can find a market.

  • I recall spending well over 10,000en playing this game. Very fun, but very expensive to play

  • This is Xbox 360?

  • @Danqueli Sega Ring Edge.

  • @FAWEXX ok thanks :D

  • The Sega RingWide can easily Do this.

Even a Sega Engineer said that Ringwide is Quite the Powerhouse.

  • looks like a cross between an old sega saturn game called gun griffon and virtua-on.

  • @azmune Witch were both fun for their time. I think on some level we'd be seeing some of this fun in the new Front Mission: Evo game. I'm hoping it shines well. I think you're going to see some surprise content appearances you didn't bank on at first. If they threw in some launching or hitching a ride kind of mechanics, and I'd really like to see more than just four on four matches in FM, I think it could grab some of the good stuff this has to offer. Still BB has some nice nostalgia to it.

  • I actually got the chance to play this the other day. The control scheme and flow of the game is very intuitive. The only thing Im unsure of, since I dont read or write japanese, is the customization system. It appears that after you are done playing you are given the opportunity to open boxes with materials in them. Other than that, the game is very fun to play.

  • Sega has removed your Chromehounds servers. Watcha ganna do about it? Speak up. Only way I could even begin to think there's any kind of real good reason to pull it's function, dispite it's troubles, is that SEGA would actualy be bringing Border Break.

Sadly it dosn't look like it. Instead it seems SEGA is further not bringing long runing series of popular ancenstory back. We may not even see Viruta Fighter making US release this time around.

Has SEGA begun it's abandonment, or is it dying?

  • ...it's like Border Break and Shining Force Cross are just the start for what Sega plans to be a grandiose next home console launch games. Imagine if they had a Sonic Adventure 3 and Skies Of Arcadia 2. They blow everyone out of the water.

  • some gundam + global agenda

  • A few days ago I was watching Code Geass and I randomly said, "Damn. I wanna play Border Break."

  • Why sega why did u make this game for japan only. =[

  • I finally had a chance to try this one out the other other evening. I really enjoyed it. It felt a lot like "Battlefield." Interesting the game has a mouse.

  • I am saying this after refraining from doing so for the better part of a decade. It's time to make another system. Get the fans involved in the R&D. Burn out a dozen different and fully developed prototypes until every flaw is ruled out. Get it right. Get it perfect. Take back the frigging console market. I'll be first in line.

  • Sega you finally have some must play games out again, yet you cut yourself short by not bringing any intent of putting this on consoles nor a US release.

Till you pull some good moves, like wrestling this into the US or consoles, you're glory days are done. They're sitting right in your hands, Sega, especially this one.

Wise up, Sega. Let yourself be a contender on the global market again.

  • @Bangcat they're bringing out a new console this summer.

  • lol what ringedge?

  • well ringedge and ringwide are just aracde boards. but theres just a strong rumour going around that sega are bringing out a console as powerful as a wii. they've patent a couple of controllers too which is offical. the other hint is on the sonic 4 webpage. i dont know how related it all is together though. somethings happening.

  • slow_golf_clap.gif

    argeed

  • @chunliwas

Much respect for the respect. Been managing an arcade for about a decade now. Still boggles me that it's open, but in part know why it is. Those of us willing to work for very little and not lose our minds when all is dead. Make barly over minimum wage and I'm the bloody Manger of the place.

Watching the gaming industries piss poor decesions in these past years dosn't make it easier.

  • @Bangcat I think the number one thing stopping this from appearing on consoles quickly is how exactly they'd implement the touch screen elements

  • @Angelsydeon maybe they could use the ps3 eye to do something but as for xbox idk if they could since i dont know much about the system but if there was a way maybe that would be nice for multiplat

  • @Angelsydeon

Well, could always put it on PC. But yeah I fail to believe that a game company can't find an alternative to controling bots or more so to conduct map bombardments as I mentioned to another fellow. I dare not to give SEGA any more easy excuses, especialy after the loss of the Chromehound servers. I think many past fans agree.

I don't dissrespect your thought though. It could be a reason, but I think SEGA has several others that many are not going to agree with.

  • @Bangcat This game is actually an arcade game that allows the japanese players to play the games online with people throughout the country. They don't have any intention to release this game in the states just yet.

  • @Bangcat the game was specifically designed for a special arcade system. If it came to consoles, it'd be a much stripped down version and they'd need to work on a new control scheme as much of the game is touch-screen based.

  • @Blassreiterfan95

Quite frankly, better than not having it at all. They could make a good varriant. The touch screen to give orders could be striped as it will be able to be conducted via voice chat with actual players instead of orchistrating AI bots. Furthermore the bombardment strikes could be broken down to a button press and use of the d pad for grid section strikes.

After all, are we not crying out for companies to inovate? Not all change is crippling nor bad. Inovate the inovation.

  • @Bangcat - I think Sega's looking into getting back into console marketing. So Border Break has a very high chance of being one of their launch titles.

  • @Blassreiterfan95 I sure hope so. I've eyed this ever since I drifted over it by accident. I think with how things went past, Sega might take a shot at console warfare again. The path it's going is not very good on the world market. Chromehounds I believe at this point we could call a cult hit. After only three years, servers down. Not cool.

I say whip up a console and show people like Nintendo some actual functional use of alternate controls. Maybe a nice laptop like set up with a touch screen

  • @Bangcat the reason it's not going to a console is because if this was EVER ported to an Xbox or PS3 people will realize that it is a mediocre third-person shooter that can hardly match up against Gears, Uncharted, or even more popular first-person shooters like Halo, Killzone, or MW2. Look at the lack of polish, the unimaginative gameplay, the wooden animations.

How it makes money is by being a giant arcade experience. That is it's gimmick. That is its novelty. Without that, it has nothing.

  • @GYI5U Well if the animations aren't exactly human, well they're mechs. For style and looks, I think it has these plenty along with good flow of customization. The fields of combat are believable for the universe and yet imaginative with the tow latches, some good old classics like catapult systems, and a good range between needing to get in close and yet accessible perching positions.

As for polish, I severely wouldn't put Gears in that category. game breaking glitches galore.

  • I am in japan and just spent 20 bucks on this fukcing game...its so addicting....

  • Hit the enemies weak points for maximum damage!

  • dis is only for arcade came out in japan a few weeks ago. Dunno if it'll be out newhere else :s

  • A few weeks ago? It was OFFICIALLY released in Japan on September 9, 2009! Before then, it was in location testing starting from February 23, 2009.

  • Other Asian countries are possible.

  • This look awesome even though i have no idea what it is. It said this vid was reccomended. What platform is it?

  • It is on the Sega's Ringedge arcade board so it's definitely more powerful than its previous Lindbergh arcade board. The Lindbergh arcade board was used to power Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtua Fighter 5 R.

  • I was just looking at the specification for the Ringedge Arcade Board. Technically, this hardware is more advanced than the Sony PS3 & X-Box 360. What are your thoughts on how a home conversion for this game would be like if it happened.

  • Im a huge Sega fan, so I would love to see a new Sega console. Unfortunately I doubt it will happen, but in saying that, obviously they are still manufacturing hardware, so I suppose it's not totally unrealistic. I really think Sega are trying very hard to be an awesome company again, you have this game which I would love to play, AVP is coming out shortly and that looks awesome, and there is also the new Sonic 4 which I personally think will be great, Sega are getting back to their roots

  • It Looks Super Awsome Sega Has Done it Again

  • Is the HD on this game good?

  • i played tis in tokyo 2day and it was SWEET!!!

  • port to ps3 please ;)

  • yea, wait a couple of years, and maybe you may get your wish.

If Arcades were to simply give away their best games, we wouldn't have any arcades now would we?

  • Now this looks amazing

  • Holy crap yeah...

  • This game looks exactly like exteel tbh.

  • Sorta better than Exteel, for instance, the lock on system is better. Exteel took the bad parts about AC's lock system

  • Will this game support 1080p? Because it looks really good.

I heard that RingEdge will support 1080p.

  • After thinking about it, for video games Ringedge is probably more powerful than the Lindbergh. The Lindbergh has a 6800 graphics card and possibly a 7 series graphics card depending on the game, but this has an 8800gs. I would like to a a House of the Dead 5 on this!

The system looks like it costs less than the Lindbergh to make, though.

  • This game is SUPER fun! Problem is it costs a lot of money to play. 100 yen will last grant you about 4-5 minutes of gameplay. Unlike other games, where you can keep going if you're winning, our "credits" keep trickling down in Border Breakno matter if you're winning or losing, and once they run out, you have to reload.

  • Just played this the other day, it is incredible! The movement, dash, and jump actions are controlled with a joystick. The aiming, fire, and weapon change, and action buttons are with a mouse! The touchscreen is used to communicate with allies and survey the map. The controls are so simple that I was able to jump right into a game and I got the controls down within a minute. This game is very fun. With the data card, and numerous customization options, it is a very addicting game!

  • This would be amazing in the 360!

  • Tough luck on this one: the RingEDGE BB runs on is actually a full-fledged PC hooked to a 5.1 sound system with a gigantic cockpit-sized touchscreen... I hardly think they could bundle all that with a 360 :(

  • Fuck the 360, It's the biggest disgrace in Videogame history.

  • bit your tongue.

its thanks to the 360 that online play and other systems are receiving better development!

    Competition always sparks more.

besides the 360 is just an upgraded dreamcast if you pay attention to the specs.

  • To your first statement - Like how?..

Second of all wtf does Xbox hardware have to do with Dreamcast not a goddamn thing whatsoever.

To start off that The xbox itself is build like shit, allong with the massive contruction faults that plague the machine. in exact opposite of the Dreamcast which shows itself as a technical wonder when it was first introduced back in 1999 even to this day.

Dreamcast had a Hitachi SH-4 cpu/ xbox 1 had a Celeron, and 360 ppc how the F*ck is that similar dumb fuck

  • Not only that but the whole Philosophy behind Sega, You have no idea what huge insult your statement really is, Sega is company with a legacy and allong with its history that made it the brand it became within the Years. Micro$shit couldn't understand or even begin to graps the meaning of the word "Gaming" or understand the concept of what it's all about they just entered the market because they saw a oppurtunity to take a part of the market share, despite selling a broke product.

  • ugh...

look at them first build wise and purpose wise, then talk.

I can grasp gaming but you seem to complain too much like a child...

it did start as an opportunity but it entered fruition later sheesh.

and please don't tell I am a 360 fanboy because I play all 4 now, calm down...

  • Well if u are truly convinced that your words are making sense why don't you just explain their meaning to me

  • sure.

by desing If you look how both both the original xbox controler and the dreamcast controlers had a lot of similarities in the double slot department, The online menu had the same access style, both have used to have similar OS operations (the coding).

they are just a lot of unseen similarities until you sit down and look at them both.

the 360 is completely different but the original did have it.

damn I know there are 5 more but I cant seem to remember them...

  • Those "Similarties" you talk of are sololey cosmetic, which were clearly taken over from the Dreamcast, which maybe have to do with the fact that a little rat named Peter moore jumped ship to Microsoft when sega went down and took some ideas with him. Aside from this you stated about specs not looks..

  • Peter Moore?

lol I guess that explains it!

  • wait, wasnt he one of the lead developers?

  • Yes he must have developed your brain by the look of your dumb statements. Good luck preaching lies.

  • Im jut asking who he was,

    im not lying either.

I am just saying my opinion between the 3 systems nothing more.

I never said it was an official fact.

  • Peter moore wasn't near as bad a bernie stoller

  • I think this would actually be better on the saturn then 360

  • I wish arcades were as popular in the US still as they are in Japan :(

  • Same dude same... Arcades are like awesome, they make alot of money

  • @bobrocks95

Know how you can help? Show some quarter love to your local arcade. Even if it's just a couple bucks when you pass by and make it a point to stop by when you're in the naborhood. Want to solve a problem? Be part of the solution. Find your local arcade, maybe even make a few friends there.

While you're there, give a salute to your local attendent low wage heros. Without the few who are remaining honist while working for peanuts, your arcade simply can't keep standing.

  • @bobrocks95 Its because in japan, things are more local, whereas here you'd have to drive to get to most places. It shows in the wii too, because friend codes make more sense considering you can just tell them to people in your neighborhood.

  • @bobrocks95

I can feel your pain on that one. Believe it or not, I manage one of the few arcades left that isn't wrestled into being a kiddy party zone. Some will say; What about Chucky Cheeses? Many of us wouldn't count it as an arcade.

Chances are in such a place you won't find any fighting games and nothing with gore, instantly cutting down on the range of things you can play. The most gory thing you're going to play in that rat's house is shooting dinosaurs, that and hitting cars.

  • MAKE THAT good game into PC SEGA, i wanna PLAY

  • Rinwide/Ringedge is going to be arcade hardware, and if anyone knows their history, they'll know sega dominated in the arcade buisness.

But theres a serious Problem: The arcade gaming age is dead and gone. so, sega's trying to do two things: One, Get back into hardware

and Two, which is WAY easier said than done, Resurrect the Arcade!

  • so is ringedge going ti be a console or what?

  • We don't know for sure. I mean, I'd love to see the hardware adapted for a home console. But, yeah, probably won't happen in the current economic climate.

  • sega makes nice arcade stations. this one is from latest generation RINGWIRE

  • Dude, I know. Also, it's Ring Wide not Ring Wire.

  • yeah. do you know is it possible to buy english arcade? or is it only in Japan?

  • Anyone can buy Arcade hardware. You have to pay a lot for it though.

If you wanted to do that it would be cheaper buying from Japan as they are made there.

  • Is there the game with english interface? Thats I meant :) (Sorry but my English is bad but a bit better than Japanese)

  • No.

  • Both wrong: it's RingEDGE.

  • There are two SKU's; Ring Edge and Ring Wide. I know what I'm talking abotu.

  • I know, sorry for the wrong phrasing :) I meant that BB runs on RingEDGE.

  • Oh right, that's cool. I was just correcting someone who thought it was Ring Wire.

  • ゲーム中にこのBGMが鳴ると超燃える

This music during game play makes me really heat up!

  • and remove the spaces in "di scussion", after "ringedge- ", and in "dreamca st"

  • Haha ya thanks, dont know how I missed that? ;)

  • **CROSS FINGERS**

  • well it is sega

  • NO.

  • *crosses his fingers that one day, some day, this came will be brought to console

  • Arcade games like this won't come to america and definitely not consoles because sega's arcade games got lukewarm reactions here.

  • Yeah, gotta agree with shippou. Doubt I'll ever see this beautiful looking game in the states. :/

  • sadly it's not on console, it's on the arcade...

  • I hope that your not implying that the fact that it's only on the arcade is bad...0_0

    arcades are awesome.

  • I know, but the distribution of the arcade machines are limited at some countries... =(

Especially if it's not translated into English... =(

  • Ah, i see =(

  • I was looking for the trademarks for it.

I found that is is trademarked for use in

    Asia, Europe, and North America

  • the size of the teams alone will screw over north america. i assume 10v10 would be 20 cabinets? unless it can play over the internet versus other cabinets but either way no single arcade will have enough to host more than 2 of these so odds are we'll never see it

  • Yea tha'ts the sad part.

    Damn you NA market!!

  • Put this game on the PC. Give them multiple load outs that can have their equipment changed freely by the player. Add in perks/achievements. It would sell like FRIGGING HOTCAKES.

  • this is apparently an online game as stated in the Japanese description...I am speculating that it will come out on the xbox or ps3...but not on the wii

  • It's a networked arcade machines game.

  • good day mate!

  • oh come on, the Wii isn't bad, but you're still wrong, this is an Arcade ONLY game

  • I had already known about this game being an arcade only game 3 months ago. Also, you must be seriously mistaken, for I have been a veteran Nintendo fan since the early 80's. I supposed you were still an innocent toddler when it all began.

  • actually I was born in 1996, but that's not the point, the only reason that the Wii sucks is because most game companies don't give a damn about, of course the Wii is a kidde console if people don't make mature titles for it!

  • damn kid, go play your FPS, go go go...go away

  • no sega

  • Sega give us a new console NOW!!!!!!!

  • Everyone here subscribe to Sega now!Make it known that they still have their loyal fans!Give the the motivation to make a Dreamcast 2 damn it!

  • dear sega please notice the fact that most people commenting on this video speak english console version NOAW PLZ!

  • This is true, when sega had 65% market share, it was solely because of the United states and Europe. Japan has never taken to sega, because they are stupid, and prefer inferior products, like Nintendo, or sony.

If sega were smart, they would abandon Japan and just focus on western markets.

  • Yeah, except the Saturn sold like shit in the US and really well in Japan...

  • This is true, but that happened in a declining period for sega, ironically the only console that made it big over there, was the loss leader for the company, thus reinforcing my argument.

The Japanese never got Sega, because they often ignored them in favor of who ever is cahoots with squaresoft. So why not go where the money is and focus on the west? That's where the real market is.

  • kinda like what Bernie Stoller did with SEGA's late 1990's RPG future, yea, i know where you are going with that

  • I used to hate Stolar too, but i started hearing he might have been a driving force to what ended up being Sega's most successful console, the Dreamcast.

  • I hope it Gets on the Wii!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...The Wii...

  • LOL! Bow down, wii.

  • AHAHAHAHA

    yeah ... the wii

wasn't that the console that was hyped to shit on the other two and after everyone wasted their money on one realised it was utter shit, and now they are having to release actual games that are good like madworld just so they're acceptable? yeah, it was that console.

tbh, this has PS3 written all over it. the PS3 has that whole future vibe to it. but i hope the XB and PS£ online joins and they both get this, would be fucking epic!!!!

  • OMG is Virtual-On but extremely upgraded xDD

  • This might never make it to the US. If it does, it might be on the 360 because it will be easy as hell to port it.

  • What console?

  • new Sega is called RINGEDGE/ RINGWIDE

  • it's an arcade designed game i believe. if you read issue 201 of EDGE magazine theres an article on it on page ... finding it ... 20 and 21. there are picture of the arcade machines, they have fancy pants controlls to emulate the machine cock-pit (though its a standing arcade). but i hope it doesnt just go to RIDGEDGE/RINGWIDE they're like basically just microsoft run computers from sega (i ploughed blindly through jap sega sites and founs the specs that were in english here and there) look good

  • The only thing wrong is that they look *really* slow when they're walking. Like stupidly so. The mech looks like it's trying to run but instead is going 2 miles an hour.

  • I thought that was an exaggeration at first, but then I watched the video.

Good lord, that has got to be the most retarded run animation ever. It would be better if both thruster and running speed were increased, with a major ramp to running. And a better animator. AC got this perfect in the late PS2 era...

  • Destroy all enimies.. very Good..

  • Didn't AM2 make the first three House of the Dead games and 4?

  • No, Sega-AM1 (previously known as Sega WOW) developed all four House of the Dead games except Overkill.

  • Ah ok, thanks I got the numbers mixed up Dx

  • Yay! This video totally made me smile :)

I had a horrible morning and this made my day

    Thanks! :)

  • On a Related note. It seems like VO:OT is going to be multiplatform. So maybe on Wii, PS3, 360 maybe please?

  • more like this game please.

  • 20 person VS Virtual ON revival!

  • Not quite... I mean sure I haven't played it but I can just tell VO is better overall. ;) Besides there's no Fei-yen here so it's already not as awesome.

  • lol

    No.

  • Oh god it's like some holy cross between Halo and Armoured Core. If only you could jump into the core and self-detonate :)

  • oh DAMM ! the gameplay looks GREAT im impressed GOOD JOB SEGA

  • Awesome job SEGA & AM2!! ;)

  • Pure. Awesome.

  • I'm wrong, this game should be liked the gundam arcade pod game "Senjou no Kizuna", it can totally manage your suit, ability and pilot by yourself!

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone else think the walking animations are a tad awkward?

  • Holy shit...I'm impressed and I'm not into mechas :o

  • Buttery slick. Maybe I'll have to visit Japan again just to play it. I doubt we'll ever see it here.

  • Who knows? According to the patent SEGA has plans to being the hardware here to the US.

  • It would be awesome to see this on a home console I'm pretty sure we will next year. Although we have yet to see RingWide in action.

  • Oh Sega I love your way... Everyday.

  • woooow!!! looks like FUN!!!

  • If this does not get a International release. I may cry manly tears of shame for the state of the world.

WE need more Mecha games like this! Go SEGA

  • I think it looks awesome.... But I think it would be better if they made the defult run speed faster.

It's looking a bit slow... But other then that I would love to play this!

10 vs 10? bring it on!

  • The Awesomes!

  • Wow thats very cool!

Its really impressed me considering the fact that I'm a HXC AC fan.
