LOL @ erybody arguing bout whats correct and proper language when the song is about acceptin how people talk & the words they use due of cultural differences
Only Fred and Ginger can dance in roller skates and it be this epic. Not only do they dance in skates, but they sing the best version of this song that is around
The best version of this song, ever is by Fred Astaire and was recorded for Brunswick records at the same time as the picture. The backing is much more lively and you don't have Ginger's off key singing. Its available on a Columbia CD release called Starring Mister Astaire and other places. All the commercial recordings that Fred did of these songs are wonderful and all are on the Starring Mister Astaire CD set.
@carygrantswedding Agreed 100%. Even those MGM musicals in the 50s were way overproduced for my taste. Never liked them (ok, kill me). And don't get me started on the new ones-- I almost threw up when I saw the new "Footloose" trailer.
These Fred-Ginger comedies at RKO are just the way I like it. Screwball with tunes from legendary composers!
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!! SOME ONE DELTED THIS VIDEO AND IT MADE ME SO MAD BECAUSE I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!!! NOW IT'S BACK AND I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!! XD
It's incredible that they could dance that well on roller skates. It would suck to fall while doing that dancing routine. I love that ending though. "Yes, it was my idea." "Have you anymore of them?" "No." Hahaha what a great pair they are!
@Merkwerkee I have seen that scene from "It's Always Fair Weather." Gene Kelly is amazing in that scene. I would say that Gene's choreography was more difficult than Fred and Ginger's, but then again Fred and Ginger did it first and with a partner. Did you know that it was actually Ginger's idea to dance on roller skates? Both are great dancing routines though, and I just love all of these wonderful dancers.
