Wow. Just wow. Not only did they kill it, but to be able to perform for Nobuo Uematsu, hell, to even be in the same room as Nobuo Uematsu and have him be aware of you and interested in what you were doing, that is what awesome is all about.
I wish I will one day get my wish to not only meet Angela, but be her friend. Her music has helped me though so many lows. I know I wouldn't have been able to live without her guidance in song form. She is truly an angel on earth!
Yeah, I definitely considered myself privileged to have been there, and the experience was only heightened when I came across the awesome dudes that make up The Spoony Bards.
She was so humble and approachable, it was awesome! I asked her to sign her album for me with a Japanese phrase that said, "Best of Friends," and she was like, "Hmm, I think I've got something better..." and she wrote something deep in kanji that translates approximately to, "Friends For Eternity." How cool is that?
Her performance at the Play! concert was sublime.
They were speechless. Their smiles ran for miles, and they were all extremely thankful, especially Nobuo. He was impressed the whole night that The Spoony Bards had shown up with instruments and were playing all of his songs.
That is so bitchin'. Thank you very much for your answer. I sincerely appreciate it. :) I am still very curious, too!
Do you know of any other videos of the songs they played that night? Did Uematsu get to talk to any band members? I realize you may not be one of the Bards, or even interested in otehr stuff.. but right now, you know much more than me :)
There's always their web site: spoonybards DOT com
And inside the Multimedia section there's a link to a forum where they have just about every Youtube video that they've come across.
That night at the Tower Records was my first time learning about The Spoony Bards. I filmed several of their other pieces since I was standing next to them in line, but I chose to only upload these few on Youtube. They even played the Final Fantasy fanfare piece when Nobuo arrived at the store; it was great!
