  • At 37 years of marriage my wife and I still kiss like we did on our first dates... Thank you God for giving us such happiness,

  • when i was little i used to sing 'tassionate tisses' instead of 'passionate kisses'!!!

  • It is good to know what you want and demand it.

  • Embarrassed, but confessing that one morning 24 years ago I woke up from the most vivid dream, crying, hugging my pillow and experiencing passionate kisses with Mary Chapin Carpenter.

  • 3 years and no bankers shutting this upload down. Rock on from Rockville, MD :-)

  • It's not my angel Lucinda, but I can't complain cuz MC2 does it so well.

  • I just love this song..

    always have, always will.

  • I love this song....but a long time ago my little parakeet Tweety" would sit on my shoulder, bob his head & dance to this song. My mom was staying with me at the time & one morning before work he was sitting on her shoulder just as he always did mine, singing & chirping in her ear. She went to the door to let out my dog & away Tweety flew never to see him dance & sing again. I searched & searched cried on the way to work & everytime I heard this song..... silly me!

  • @Pamelina11 Your little Tweety wanted to go out and see the great, wide world. Sometimes our spirits need to be free.

  • @CarlaFWard I think he crashed & burned somewhere in the nieghborhood. He never had the opportunity to fly in large open spaces & it was about 105 degress outside. I guess birds just fly away. They're not really meant to keep caged.

  • Oh By the way did I Mention that this was written by Lucinda Williams and that this album sold 4 million copies one million more than Reba's " IT'S YOUR CALL Album that should tell you something right there!!!!!!!

  • Mary Chapin carpenter really is one of those artist who got away with the whole Folk Country Sound of hers and win major awards from Grammys All the way to Cma awards i think she was Cma's Female Vocalist of the Year in 92' and that is something is unheard of in Country music for someone like Mary Chapin I say we need more like her in mainstrem music someone who accualy have tallent and can sing unlike the so-called stars of today!!!

  • Yeah, um hm.

  • Awesome sweet spirit!! Love her!

  • love this song........

  • This woman is like, so many things I want to be..

  • if you turn the volume down low and zone out, it sounds like she's singing "passionate pussy." lawl

  • I am a huge fan of Lucinda Williams, but I still love this version best and always sing it this way.

  • man oh man, this song brings back some memories of my growing up years. god i miss this type of country music.......

  • @dustinsky79 Im not that old, 27 but i remember listening to her on the radio when i was little, her and so many others....i miss those days sometimes :)

  • Me too.

    I want that too.

  • I listen to this song when I need the strength to stick up for myself. The lyrics inspire me. I believe the ability to inspire people is one quality of a well written song . Thanks to MCC for recording it.

  • Well there you go.Thanks for the LW correction.Much appreciated, along with the graceful manner of its communication.

  • Holy shit, this song sucks.

  • Love Mary .... Not as cutting edge country as Gillian or even Alison K...So what!...Love this Lucinda Williams cover.Works at a thorougly melodic country/pop level...My true love of MCC came from "Fly Away Home"....'Her' 10,000 Miles one of the most sublimely beautiful things I've ever heard...

  • @tokori77 This is actually not a Lucinda Williams cover. Lucinda wrote it and Mary recorded it first. So in essence the cover is done by the writer,Lucinda Williams. Funny, but true

  • @loi2121 hate to burst your bubble, but you're only half right. Lucinda wrote it yes and recorded it first in 1988 and MCC didn't record it until 1992's Come on Come on album.......In 1988, she released her self-titled album, Lucinda Williams. This release featured "Passionate Kisses", a song later recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter which garnered Lucinda her first Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1994.

  • 9 people never get passionate kisses

  • this song plays at my work ALLLLL THE TIME XP

  • Love this song!!!!!!

  • i love this song, old but still good

  • what a beuatiful video...

  • Oh Lucinda and Mary.. how did you know the secret wishes of my most private heart?

  • I love the fact that Mary had her own unique sound in country music. Her voice was very distinct allowing her to convey so much emotion through her lyrics. Her Rickenbacker guitar provides a timeless sound, a throwback to the Beatles. Her acoustic sound is a throwback to older country and folk music. She could sound punky and aggressive and in another song, could sound like a mother singing her baby to sleep. While record companies continue mess things up, MCC continues to prove her greatness.

  • oh my god. that was awesome!!!!!!!!! you go Mary!

  • Do I want too much?

  • for us keith xoxoxoxoxo forever

  • You have a sense of entitlement, girl! That's OK. :-)

  • I may not have a boyfriend, but I still like this song.

  • @yellowandpinkgirl

Want one who likes passionate kisses? ;) hehe

  • i love her so much. i dont know why, but she reminds me of a country version of stevie nicks for some reason. shes got the songs, the voice, the lyrics, and the no bs that everyone talks about. that may not make any sense. lol. but she is great. thats the point.

  • They play this song at Sears all the time

  • beautiful song that make sense and we need more lile it.

  • Drum fills on this are fantastic. Loved this song in the 90s played it for my kids when they were little. Song sounds just as good to me 15 years later.

  • 90's were the GREATEST time for good country music. The time of the legends, Garth, Reba, Vince gill, MCC, Travis Tritt, Suzy Boggus, Sawyer brown, Sammy Kershaw, Aaron tippin, etc... Since then, Great country music has died. Now it's pop mixed with a country guitar. Talentless and leaderless, country today is a pale shadow of what it was. This jewel of the 90's is a jem of what I grew up with, and what country music SHOULD BE!

  • This Canadian don't need 500 characters ...Great song, lovely American..'nuff said!!

  • She's GREAT! GREAT SONG!!!

  • This is my favorite song from this album, and the earliest song I remember. My mom used to play this album constantly when I was little. Country isn't my favorite genre, I'm more into bands like Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, and The Killers. But this album and song is still in my top top favorites!

  • This song is My Anthem

Shout it out to the night...

    Give me What I Deserve,

    Cuz it's not Right!

  • @bargainmom I believe the line is "'cause it's my right".

  • Is she related to Harry, brother, and father Jim, great drummer and educator?

  • I don't think so.

  • Do I want too much...am I going overboard to want that touch?

(one of my favorite songs and performers from the mid 90s...saw her in concert...)

    I HEART passionate kisses!

  • Mary chapin carpenter seems like a simple and humble person.

  • sweet song. :))

  • Mary Chapin hit #4 in Billboard, 3-20-93. God bless!

  • Well, I loved it!!! It's the kinda country I appreciate listening!!! Keep up the marvelous job!!! Congrats, Lady!!! (Rudhgy)

  • I'd like to give my wife some passionate kisses right now, but the kids are up. Oh Well.

  • I always think of driving in my aunts car, she had this cd in all the time!

  • she's chubby now

  • Not even worthy of comment.

  • I just absolutely love this song...

"give me what I deserve, 'cause it's my right!"

  • She seems like a very simple what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of person. She was never a glamorous diva kind of gal like Faith or Shania. But I like that about her. She's never TRYING to be pretty. She just IS!

  • @bigbenkentucky You are so right. Nothing about her is fake or contrived. She is a beautiful woman with great intellect which makes her very sexy as well.

  • @bigbenkentucky Yes, i agree with you,

    she seems very humble.

  • @bigbenkentucky She is just what you see here. She is full of talent, self doubts and so much more..I am glad to count her as a personal friend.

  • @bigbenkentucky i think you just summed up the reason modern country sucks compared to the old days! nobody wanted to be famous, nobody wanted to be a diva, nobody even wanted to get rich! they just sang from the heart, wrote with their blood and made some of the best music ever released! nowadays everybody's trying to be famous and popular and the music is horrible!

  • @bigbenkentucky Girl next door you mean? I love Mary's music and this is my favorite song from her. Amazing singer/songwriter.

  • Chapin's voice and smile are adorable, almost angelic. Jennings guitar also sounds McGuinn/Byrds-esque which makes this song sound special too. She is such a talented, sincere performer who knows how to pick the songs and sounds to record. 'Do I want too much, am I going overboard to want that touch?" Great song.

  • Mary is the best new act I've seen in 30 years. Breathtaking range of material. Convincing vocals. Gifted songwriter. Powerful stage presence. She's got it all.

  • @KENZOWAL

    I concur.

  • @thesyxxpac New Act? Mary Chapin-Carpenter is not a new act! She is from the 90s. I was a fan of hers and bought her albums as a teen. I am still a fan and listen even today. She is very talented.

  • @BoroBoy22JLRWell for some of us those who haven't been around over 30 years are considered a new act, especially by those of us, like me, who are not country music fans, per se. To me most of it is cookie cutter production garbage and a waste of bits. However, MCC rises above all that and refuses to adhere to the status quo. FYI, MCC has been around longer than the 90s. Two of her works are from the 80s. Thanks for taking time to visit.

  • @thesyxxpac

So true! She's great --- whenever you discover her.

  • @thesyxxpac never said mcc was new just that i am seeing here in london this month.this will actually be the fourth time ive seen her here - going back to 1995.

  • @boroboy1964 Lucky you. She has kind of faded from the media ever since come on come on. She is one of my few favorite country artists ever. I probably like her because she doesn't fit the image that country music tries to shove down our throats these days.

  • @thesyxxpac still doesnt make her a new act. i dont think she rose above anything (except beating cancer) because this song (and most of her older stuff) was typical of country at that time (there was a lot of good popular country then) Examples: ALL 90's george strait, check out sticks and stones album by Tracey Lawrence, Too cold at home by Mark Chestnutt, etc. 90's (and late 80's) country was really good. She didnt hav 2 rise above any pop standards then

  • @lunarsiege mc2 beat cancer? did she have cancer? first ive heard of this.

  • @BoroBoy22JLR Aww I have been a fan of hers since my teens too! I agree she is very talented

  • @KENZOWAL I totally agree! She is a great preformer and writer. I've seen her live twice, and loved every minute of it. Lucinda Williams actually wrote this song... another incredible songwriter.

  • @KENZOWAL I too agree, but I have a question. Where is she, and what is she doing now?

  • I suppose that I should also put my critique of the video up as well, so here it is.

Unlike the majority of videos that you see nowadays, the majority of this video is in the black-and-white style, which fits the mood very well... I think, that if the whole thing were in color, it wouldn't fit the song the way it does... That being said, the video is very romantic, with some cute moments interspersed (ie. The kid kissing the dog). Very good cinematography.

  • A beautiful, loving song that does and, at the same time, scream overly done passion. I cannot see anyone doing this song as great as Mary Chapin Carpenter. Her voice absolutely makes this song perfect... I just wish that I could find music for this song. While I can't sing very well, I am a pianist and guitar player who enjoys a good song. The opening is a very pretty piano piece, and the rest is a very nice guitar piece. I wish that I could see her live, but it doesn't work that way for me.

  • I work with a "passionate kiss ass."

  • Yes MCC should have passionate kisses from me! haha hey, she was pointing right at me in the video! Great song!!

  • cant wait to see the wonderful mcc in london later this year

  • I love you so much right now you have no idea... I haven't heard this song since I was a little kid... she's what got me started singing. I would run around with a hair brush singing the hard way when I was about five years old. :)

  • I love you Mary Chapin Carpenter.ive liked you for 15 years..you changed my life when i first heard you...ive seen you live twice...love you lots xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Mary Chapin Carpenter is fantastic! She was just playing at the Melody Tent here on Cape Cod. This is one of the best songs ever recorded in my opinion. I never tire of hearing it.

  • @glorybra

I love her too and this has always been one of my favorite videos.

  • i love how in the beginning the kid jumping is in tune to the song.Ive always loved this song.

  • I remember hot southern black girls jamming to this in the 90s in Texas.

  • Mary Chapin Carpenter is a fantastic singer. She does a beautiful job on this tune. Like others on this post I had never heard of Lucinda Williams (I didn't even know who wrote this song) until recently. MCC for sure made this song her own with this cover.

  • they dont make music like they use to!

  • Pretty special song...it's a keeper!

  • woo! working at publix brings more music to my ears :p

  • What?...............The best of course, that includes the video.

  • Tony the Tiger!!!!

  • Any colored dudes who jive across the monument are worth it you ivy league cunt. is it too much to ask?

  • i totaly forgot about this song, i loved it growing up

  • love sucks theres no such thing its all bullcrap!!! -_-

  • ALL YOU NEED !!!!

  • i know the grandpa of the writter. it is an

inheirted trait. would love to know who did

    the drums on the song

  • i hear it often in the cvs i work. i use to think it was "i should have kisses." wow what a dumbass i am.

It's a nice song and now i clearly know the lyrics.

  • I just came back from DC (for the first time in many years) and sad to report, Au Pied de Cochon is no more. It's now a Five Guys (burger joint). The Georgetown of my youth is almost completely gone.

  • 2:29 It's cute how that little girl kissed that big dog!

This is truly one of my favorite songs of all time!

I know my friend and I did the interlude chording differently, but that's just another version of Lucinda's song.

  • this song rocks and she is beautiful

  • had just about given up on life, then suddenly, when least expected, he found me...and gave me all of this...and more...

    wow...passionate kisses!

  • I forgot about this song until seeing it on YouTube. Thanks! The lyrics on this tune are great, and Mary's got the talent to sing it -- heartfelt!

  • I've been watching her live and listening to her music for more than 20 years. In addition to her immense talent, she is one of the nicest people in the music business. She has given a lot of her money away to charities over the years, and is just as sweet and nice and compassionate as she seems in her videos, a truly wonderful person. God bless Mary Chapin Carpenter!

  • Well said sir, Mary Chapin Carpenter is the real deal as an artist and a person.

  • i love mcc! she is so talented!! what a classy lady!!

  • this video is the funniest piece of shit ive ever seen in my entire life

  • WORD!

  • mmm ... I love Lucinda, but Mary really nailed it on this one. beautiful woman ... beautiful song ... beautiful message about what every woman deserves

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful video with me....it is awesome...♥

  • Love the fun song but a poor uninspiring video. This song gets everyone on the dance floor and the video should reflect that.

  • I disagree. I don't feel like dancing when I hear this song. I feel like grabbing a mic and belting my heart out! This isn't a dance song or even a country music song. It's a song about old-fashioned romance, pure and simple, and I think the sepia tone of the video (like an old daguerrotype) suits it very well.

  • Comment removed

  • Rather, what does it say about yours?

  • What does it say about YOURS?

  • I think this was better than Lucinda ever did it......

  • this is a beautiful video done well by a beautiful woman: none other than mary chapin carpenter herself :)

  • haha....i think i am too young to like this sont....but what the shucks! haha! I LIKE IT! passionate kisses whoa oh oh!

  • it just goes to show that even if your young, you know good music. Two thumbs up to you!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ain't Lucinda (the writter and composer) but very good

  • This song has been playing on the Muzak at work. I always sing along with it; it's a great song!

  • My favorite....seen her 6 times in concert.

  • Same here, Wow lucky you, I just new about her and her songs..Her voice is very good....

  • This song makes me think of my mom...as a kid she use to sing this song with all she could as she loved it so much! Thanks for sharing.

  • cool quiet and time to think.....

  • @surfcottage I agree that's the song's top lyric; yet also good is "full house and a rock 'n' roll band". Interesting that the two best represent opposite extremes on the spectrum.

  • Well this song brings back so many good memories. When I feel down I always listen to this. I love Mary Chapin Carpenter!

  • I have always loved this song. I want passionate kisses!!!! LOL

  • me too! It's not to much too ask!

  • I've always like this song. Thanks for uploading it.

  • I really like the energy that Mary Chapin Carpenter brought to this song.

  • didn't realize this was a cover until a few years ago! she really polished and refined it! the original by lucinda williams is cool, too, though. :)

  • Thanks for your comment, I knew this was a cover but had never heard Lucinda Williams's version until recently. I must say Mary perfected this song with her version. I love this video and song for more reasons than I can list here but the fact that Mary looks and sounds magnificent in this video are among them. It truly takes me back to a wonderful bygone time in my life.

  • @thesyxxpac It's never bygone if it lives within. Cheers to your most excellent taste and for bringing some of the memories this song offers to others. =)

  • I'm in love.

  • I have been for 20+ years now. Thanks for your comment.

  • she looks like melissa joan arc from "sabrina, the teenage witch'.

  • I had always liked this song, but had never seen the video. It's superb! Artistic w/o being overly 'artsy'. Furthermore, the vid would've been ruined by making it a blatent smooch fest, but instead it handled it tastefully and restrained. Bravo! And MCC comes across very genuine and likable to boot.

  • I concur.

  • Passionate Kisses! :)

  • I love you Mary Chapin Carpenter from the first time I ever saw you.

  • Easily her best song.

  • hello...

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • Nice vid
