  • this video is soooo cool. cool that paul westerberg is in it too since he originally wrote the song.. the colors are really awesome and its cool how his picture on the record is young at the beginning and old at the end. we love you glen campbell!

  • why is it his final recording?

  • I didn't know about him until my dad wanted his music.

Amazing how touched I was once I heard his songs.

Totally getting his songs on my ipod ;)

  • this man has been a credit to the music industry , and to finish with a song like this is amazing , you were all that at singing glen

  • Wonderful days Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens & Glen Campbell :-)

  • Wow. Loving this video and the album! Thanks so much Glen for all the music and memories you have given to us for the last 50 years. I pray your spirit rises up and continues to reign supreme. There was never anyone like you; a feat rarely accomplished in music. All the best to you!

  • Sorry, hit the wrong key. And totally unique. This whole production has a contemporary feel, not retro at all, unlike many of his contemporaries. Maybe it's the presence of his kids in the band, and is openness to their influence. Plus, unlike many singers who have been in the biz as long as he has, he has retained his voice and its range. CleanTruly something to be proud of.

  • Well, that was bloody amazing! I always liked Glen, as I considered him a true crossover artist--part country, part rock, part pop, an

  • Be sure to catch the guitar riff tribute to "Wichita Lineman" in the middle of the song...unmistakable G.C. sound. And I love the "canvas" tribute to the other greats...looks like Johnny Cash and Buck Owens...and who else??? Thanks so much, Glen, for this glorious final act.

  • i will always love Glen Cambells music, it is true country. we will miss you. i pray for you every night. This will always be my favorite song from "Ghost on the canvas", thank you for the music you made, it has always been there for me.

  • This is written by paul westerberg. Glen does a nice job.

  • I love Glen Campbell, but not only because he's such a good musician. I love the way he's dealing with the fact that he has Alzheimers, which as of now is a disease you cannot beat. I love the way he doesn't let it get to him and is still performing. When he leaves this Earth it will be a great loss for all of the music industry and music lovers.

  • i love this song

  • GOD BLESS YOU GLENN, THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, YOU ARE SIMPLY AWESOME!

  • Really good song. The video is a bit eerie though especially considering what Glen is now facing.

  • WOW! tThis guy is still the best.

  • a real musicians musician ....go glen

  • Always loved Glen Campbell. Hope he lives out the rest of his years in the happiness he and his family deserves. His music will be with us always. God Bless Glen Campbell!

  • Love this song!!!..Grew up listening to him....will never get tired of his voice!

  • Glen, your music is one of the buiggest reasons why I am a performer today! Thanks for your entire body of work!

    Jim VanNewKirk

  • God ... Grant Glen peace and joy as the shadows fall. As I grow older with him, I pray for the same peace of heart and grace of mind. God, grant him dignity and the love of family on his last journey. In the Name of the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit, AMEN.

  • @gto66solstice08 Wonderful words!!!

  • Great Tune and Legendary as everything else he has done to date ! What a blessing to have his kids in his band backing him up..who could ask for anything else.

  • l i love this album. a class final act of a great career. Thank you Glen.

  • What a great guy! He reminds me of my Dad!

  • One of the best recordings of the year, and among Glen's finest work. The musical allusions to "Wichita Lineman" (still the greatest pop song of all time in my book) are poignant and well-crafted. 30 years ago, "Ghost" would be a Top 40 hit. It's a hit with me all the same.

  • My Name is Lisa Monet, I was blessed to be able to work with Glen and his family..the band, for this video and all of his last 5 months of press doing his make-up and Hair, he has got to be the sweetest, nicest star Ive ever worked with! And this song touches my soul, I cry just to think of it...Thanks Paul!!!Thanks Glen!!!

  • When I was 6 years-old in 1975, I went trick or treating as "The Rhinestone Cowboy" for Halloween... 30 years later, I found myself sitting on Paul Westerberg's tour bus in Charleston, SC, drinking a Heineken and chatting with the frontman for my favorite band of all time - and one of the best songwriters ever (Paul Westerberg)... Then, Paul writes Glen Campbell's last studio recording... Strange world.

  • P.W.I.G.

  • just amazing!! if a "newer" greatest hits package is ever made, this has to be included. I'd love to see this video in 1080p though haha.

  • Riff sounds like MMMBop by Hanson

  • Glen still has it! He still makes songs for the radio and this incredible song proves it!!

  • Simply amazing. Glen you still have such an amazing tonal quality to your voice. Even after all the years.

    Beautiful!

  • Like the ghost on the canvas Never can have us The ghost on the canvas, It’s the soul, it makes them go People don’t know When they're looking at soul! To the ghost on the canvas I'm a ghost on the canvas Love this song, Glen me and my all family loves u and ur song.. love from Pakistan :)
  • I just uploaded me singing your song Rhinestone Cowboy

I hope that you will like my version of your song

I love it, hope you like it

  • The whole album is a stunning work. Every song has the bitter-sweet feeling of Where's The Playground... Also I have noticed that Glen has a lot of fans who are very young. I wish I could have had a life as colourful as his. Thanks GC......Ride 'em!

  • thank you................

  • Oh, not to mention, this video is simply gorgeous too. Totally mesmerizing.

  • Beautful song. God, I love Paul Westerberg. And Glen does a really nice job with the song. Awesomeness.

  • Awesome,Awesome Awesome,Glenn you are a living legeng and i thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me share my life with your songs, ive listened to you for nigh on 50yrs and you sound the same now as you did back then, ive got this album on my ipod and i cant stop listening to it,if you ever in Norwich Norfolk pop round for a cuppa and we can sing a deut to together omg i would think i had died and gone to heaven lol take care pardner x

  • He was the first entertainer I saw in concert, I was about 10. I went with my parents. My Dad had Dementia (a form of Alzheimer's) and this video makes me cry every time. Dad passed away in 2007. God Bless You Mr. Campbell and rest easy, Daddy. Your Doll loves you.

  • wow, great song!

  • Paul westerberg even makes a cameo near the beginning of the video sitting on the sofa in front of the TV!

  • Wow. The best video we've seen in ages.Wow. Unbelievable songwriting. Unbelievable performance. Somebody resuscitate The Everlys and George Jones before it's too late..

  • I wonder if Jimmy Web wrote this....It ranks up there with all the best GC songs

  • @rck60s actually paul westerberg wrote this. he's the gentleman painting the picture and hanging it up at the end. in fact the beginning shot of the record played and the guy on the couch is an homage to the music video to bastards of young, a song by paul's old band the replacements. the replacements are my all-time favorite band.

  • I can NOT see this video enough! Its like the first time I heard Rhinestone Cowboy back in the mid 70's! I wore out about ten copies of that record in my life, and I still love it today!!! I think this could be his best record yet! I have NEVER heard the Man sing a bad song, and tho its hard to pick a favorite album, I love Bloodline and Basic alot, but I have probably listenned to "Pencils for sale" and "I'd build a bridge" a million times! :)

  • the video looks like an opening sequence from a james bond movie, so cool!!! :D

P.S hope to hear this as an opening theme for future james bond films!! :D

  • REALLY well-made video. Kudos to the director. And the music, of course, speaks for itself.

  • One of his best Albums ever!

  • Lovely video, and what a great song. It's one of my favourite songs ever it's just beautiful.

  • Kayonmangemen your kind of an idiot, Mr Campbell is dying of Alzheimers Disease and we need to remember those who have passes before him, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, and in the end we nee to remember the souls that have given so much and taken so little. Mr Campbell is one of those souls, and when he is gone, here is hoping you will remember what he have you since you found your way to ths site.

  • @rheinrich62

God Bless You for your statement......you are so right.

  • Mr Campbell, you are an amazing musician and performer, with every song you have given me a memory to remeber my life by, with this song you have given me memories to remember your amazing life by, best of luck to you as you embark on your final journey, may you remember the joy you have brought to the world with you music.

  • i think i broke the "replay" button!

  • @funckyduckling69

    WHEW...good thought I did it!

  • Love this video. Campbell is wearing a black shirt with roses just like the one Westerberg wore a bit on his last tour. I love how it starts out....just like the "Bastards Of Young" video.

  • Glen is the best,I have admired his music since 1970!

  • What does this song mean?

  • great song!!!! Thanks to the Wichita Lineman!! You will be missed

  • glen you are a one off, feel so lucky to have seen you ,a real bona fide star

  • Just a gorgeous song. A great goodbye and a love letter to all his fans. A love letter to the beautiful life that God gave him in this world. What a talent.

  • Way past BEAUTIFUL!! Oh it is so sad to watch him fade away, but he can still sing to us and leave us with wonder music to remember him by.

  • Exquisite.

  • Beautuful song, one of my favorite artists. I really like the throwback orchestration and bass solo as well as the video tributes.

  • This song is soooooo amazing! Makes you think, makes you believe!!!!

What an absolute wonderful song, to pay tribute to such talent.

  • Glen don't need no auto-tune.

  • I got chills...

  • They say that this is his swan song, if it is then its probably the best goodbye in history. Im not a country music fan, but I love Glenn Campbell and always will. like all great artists he is unique and takes you to the nicest places in your mind.

  • beautiful song, just touches the heart ,and has a lot of meaning to it.prob the best video ive seen in many many years.........all those giants of country music in the paintings......he as part of it all, and the nod to the monkees was very cool, i think he always had a soft spot for them----------he had them as a trio on his tv show---

  • It's sad that this is Glen's 'final' studio recording, but what a great one to end it with. A real gem!

  • That's Elvis smokin' that cigar with Glen!

  • I worked on this video, and am vey proud!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of the most spiritual videos / songs I have heard in a LONG TIME.

Everything about this track is amazing. God bless you Glen.

  • What a terrific song! Glen Campbell and Paul Westerberg - wish there was more...'Any Trouble' is great also!

  • OMG- what a great song. Glen has been my favorite artist. This song is right up there with Galveston and By The Time I Get To Phoenix. God Bles you Glen, your truly are the heart and soul of country music. You introduced country music to mainstream listeners in the 60's and 70's. Today's artists owe so much to you.

  • Glen is a great artist and God Bless him as he fights his battle.... Paul Westerberg is the genius here. Paul should be on Mt Rushmore with Bob Dylan

  • Micky Dolenz signature on on his Gretsch guitar :-) Wrecking crew forever!

  • thank you

  • FIRST saw Glen on Smother Brother's show. Great music still.

Can you guys add subtitles please. Would love to understand this song better or allow me to subtitle and you post it? Deaf and Hard of Hearing would love to follow along.

  • Glen is playing a Gretsch guitar at one point in the video, with Micky Dolenz' signature on the pickguard. Glen played on some Monkees songs.

  • @Galley99 Micky spent a lot of time in the studio with Glen and The Wrecking Crew recording all those Monkees hit songs together.

  • @Galley99 thats a monkees model gretcsh from 67.....sweet guitar ----

  • Eat your Heart out Taylor Swift... it's his kids playing with him.................

  • Eat your Heart out Taylor Swift...

  • I believe that painting should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame. This video is truly wonderful.

  • I'm not big into country, but I love this song. Not only does it or speak to his strength about his diagnosis, but to us all. This is for anyone who doesn't seem to be noticed for how good they are. For anybody that's endured lonliness and pain.

  • That shot/painting of Cash, Haggard, Owens, and Campbell is from an episode of The Goodtime Hour where they were Glen's guests. The spinning gold dial is taken from that as well. Country music's royalty always showed up for glen's show. I used to get a kick out of Jerry Reed as his wingman in guitar. And alot of pop artists showed up too. I wish Glen Campbell all the best...

  • Awesome video.....Love that his honors Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and himself as the Mount Rushmore of country music...epic!

  • @idgoback Glen also belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with all of The Wrecking Crew!

  • Amazing talent, very moving indeed. Also moved about the Alzheimers diagnosis....Organic Coconut Oil has some amazing properties, very effective against Alzheimers, and unlike 'Big Pharma' drugs, no side effects

  • amazing totally,,,hey and am a ramones fan,,,,

  • Thank you Paul Westerberg.

  • This last new CD of his the material is very poignant given the Alzheimers. He is brave and quite an artist. This song says so much about us all being ghosts on canvas'. There is another song that within the lyrics he states how he is feeling with what he is experiencing. He is so good at what he does it shines through even when confusion may be right there on his other shoulder. God bless you Glen.

  • Glen does so good for your soul.. a lovely person

  • Amazing song...love it....

  • Thanks to all you youtubers for posting these great videos of Glen, His music and career will never die.

  • What a great video tribute not only to Glens life but his buddies, Cash, Haggert and Owens.

  • Amazing song my an amazing singer/songwriter/musician. Glen is a one of a kind entertainer and his life should be a celebration.

Thankfully he has an enormous body of work that will live on forever. GOD BLESS HIM.

  • Best work yet...

  • what a beautiful, wonderful video, and a great song ~

  • Kii, another Great and Unique Video. Keep up the great work! At least you got to work with one of the greats! Glen, you will be missed!

  • Glenn, may your life and legacy be long, and your health, mind, mental, body and spirit be vital. God bless you and yours. Like you don't even know.

  • Love those strings.

  • Awesome. Gotta love Glen and his kids!

  • Paul Westerberg at the end..cool

  • @Marty7Wizard Paul westerberg is at the beginning as well. To those who don't know: PW wrote this song for Glen's album.

  • @ttraynor1 Westerberg wrote this song, but not for this album. It was originally on PW & The Ghost Gloves Cat Wing Joy Boys that came out in 2009.

  • @lookingupfilms Good catch. I can't keep up with his privately distributed stuff. How to access this? Thanks.

  • @ttraynor1 haha! It is tough keeping up with Westerberg nowadays... I always check paul westerberg d o t c o m

  • @Marty7Wizard at the beginning to falling under the painting, and trying to hang it up, LOL. wonderful song.

  • @Beatlesonlyblog Yes, that's Glen's son Cal. An other son (Shannon) is playing guitar and his daughter Ashley is playing keyboard (and the violin).

  • This is deep. Brilliant

  • I love Glen's music!!

  • Comment removed

  • Wonderful! The lyrics are classic Paul Westerberg and Glen is great.

  • What a performance by the great man ! Anyone got a spare ticket for Westcliff tonight?

  • one of my fave tracks from the album!

  • great song. Sounds like a Grant Lee Phillips tune.

  • Haunting and gorgeous song penned by Paul Westerberg. Jimmy Webb tips his hat to ya.

  • I love Glen . . love the song . . love the catolog . . . . but REALLY love the production of the VID . . . could it be an ARENNS production? BIG fan!

  • Check the portraits at the end. I get: Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and Glen Campbell. Is this correct?

  • @peppertippy that's right. The picture is based on an photo taken during an episode of Glen's television show from the early 70s in which they all appeared.

  • Campbell plus Westerberg equals PERFECTION!!!!

  • I was lucky enough to see Glen last week on his UK Goodbye Tour............ Awesome Show :o)

    Love this song and video!

  • So awesome! I love this and the whole new album! But I'm so very saddened by the news of his diagnoses of Alzheimer's. How courageous of him to embark on this journey. I hope to take my daughter to see him and be a part of this icon of American music's last triumphant tour.

  • This is a good as any Glen song from the past! Love it that the kids are in the band!!! Paul Westerberg too... great. Just great.

  • Pure awesomeness. What a chill music video!

  • GREAT, GREAT, GREAT ♥ ♥ ♥

  • I've listened to "Ghost On The Canvas" 5 times now...What an amazing song and performance!...Glen Campbell's voice soars with the atmospheric melody...It's like hearing Glen Campbell today...and on some 40 year old yesterday all at the same time...Easily the best work Glen has done in a long time...I guess time and it's limits can be a powerful inspiration...Well done!

  • stunning.....

  • Great video. Such a thoughtful portrayal of this song. It's nice to see the family working with Glenn on this special project. Loved him on his goodbye tour.

  • Absolutely beautiful. Have been a huge Glen Campbell fan since I was a kid and watched The Goodtime Hour. Loved the imagery. Glen is one of the best, most talented singers/guitarists ever. Thanks for so many years of great music.

  • It's a lovely video!

  • Excellent video. So glad Glen did this song

As a music video. Let's get this on TV so people know what real music is!!! Great job Glen & family :)
