  • Your A Booby! Booby Yourself!!! :D

  • hi thanks i love all the music on this the harp player has nailed it totally in my book. can any one enlighten me as to who plays the harp for this audio book? please. eyes on the skies peace.

  • thank you for posting this. didnt do any reading for my my literature class and had to read it all in a day. passed the test thanx to you!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I love it

  • Ive read like 50% of the book....nd i forgot to read it for a long time....I watched this and felt like i was cheating haha

  • This voice will always represent Tolkien's world to me. Reminds me of being a kid! Williamson's voice and the evoative dulcimer and harp music. Wonderful :)

  • "Throbbin' Wood". LOL

  • Thank you.

  • Thanks for uploading this! I love this version, even though it is abridged. Thanks for mentioning the reader of this version, Nicol Williamson. I had it on my iPod but lost it when my iPod went wonky. Great to hear it again!!! You made my evening!

  • I love turning on the CC and reading the captions to this story!

Gollum translates as Column or Donald, and Bilbo translates as Wilbur, Builder or Bravo.

Oh and 'my precious' translates to 'nutritious' :'D

  • Thank you for posting this! I wanted the unabridged version, but that's 20 bucks on iTunes. This is just as good! (-.-) Mahalo!

  • I first heard this on Christmas night in 1976 and never forgot it.... Thanks.

  • RIP Nicol Williamson

  • NIcol Williamson was Merlin in "Excalibur" and Sherlock Holmes in "The 7 percent Solution" fyi.

  • @IntheeyesofMorbo which excalibur do you mean?

  • ty for posting this. R.I.P. Mr Williamson (he passed away last month according to a news release from his son).

  • owh man, the gollum voice is like a little devil!! on the 1:10:00

just watch it, very scary man

  • Gollum sounds like a camp welsh man

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • 13 people were looking for the unabridged version:/

  • I'm listening to this before I watch the MOVIE ;)

  • Haha, turn the CC on. It's hilarious.

  • 37:33 ... I love this reading... as a child I went through x3 sets of tapes of it... just wonderful... gosh... such wonderful times!

  • @TheWisemonkey8 The original Shannara series by Terry Brooks is superior in my opinion. As are the first few books in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. There's much more exciting and engrossing fantasy literature than Tolkein out there for the truly discerning reader. Don't just be swayed because of the famous brand name folks. ;)

  • @DerivedEnergy you people are such idiots... move along... take the hint and bugger off...

  • what is that instrument in the beginning?

  • Thanks

  • Thank you thank you thank you very much :D

  • Helo, does anybody know what the music is at the start of this audiobook, and even better could give me a link to it? Many thanks

  • Hi!

If you like fantasy fiction I would love some feedback on my new series of audiobooks...check out my videos!

    Thanks :)

  • Gollum sounds like old gregg

  • Rainy days are days for reading, sleeping and having more sex than usual..

  • You're missing a LOT of lines from my version..it's really upsetting not to be able to follow along with you..

  • @greensharpiegirl This is Nicol Williamson reading mah good ladeh :3 But yes, it's abridged unfortunately. The LOTR audio-books read by Rob Inglis are the full versions. Seventeen hours later... ._. Check them out on my other account. The link to the first one is in the video responses here.

  • THANK you for uploading this :) thank you very much !

  • 30:50

  • The gobelins have russian accent! xD

  • 11 dislikes? 11 people are jealous and cant read..

  • @throathammer1 its an audiobook....

  • @eeee123456789eeee exactly

  • @ThrobnWood spoken like a true socialist.. try giving your own goods to the poor : /

  • Took? So Bilbo and Frodo are relted to Pippin?

  • This is not crap and if you listen more you will be overwhelmed by a fantastic story and an amazing soundvoice artist.

  • This is crap what happened to the bbc books?

  • @yahboolwoshy BBC books?

  • This will be soon taken off any bets

  • In a hole in the ground lived a Hobbit. Best start to a book in history.

  • ur missing some lines from my version

  • I wish there were more good audio books on youtube.

  • the narrator sounds a lot like michael gambon, dumbledore from the last 6 films.

  • whats cool about this audio book is it will be shorter then the two movies lol

  • why does it skip so many parts

  • Audiobooks - wupload.com/folder/804141

  • Just wondering but why is The fellowship audio book 16hours but the hobbit is only 3

  • @scottygolfs Because the LOTR audio-book is unabridged. Also, looking at my Hobbit & Fellowship books they have roughly the same amount of pages ( 389 & 385 respectively ), though the LOTR has smaller print.

  • hole? bit queer? come out? ello ello whats all this then...

  • i love the fact that the reader cant decide what voice to use for Gandalf

  • Gollum sounds like a creepy muslim iin this version, nah joke,

thank you very much for posting this.

  • Yay. Thanks can't wait to listen to lord of the rings as well.

  • ATTENTION: Greetings peoples ^_^ I've finally finished putting 'LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring' audio-book into video form, & have oh so sloooooowly uploaded the sixteen parts onto Youtube. Yup! sixteen parts. It's on my other account named "Haamurabai". As ye can see here, I've made Part 1 a video response to this video. I don't know if anyone will get through all sixteen parts, but it's an unabridged reading of the book. It's all there! :D Mm hmm, that means Tom Bombadil. So enjoy!

  • whats with the stupid 80's vinyl record effect it bugs me so much.

  • @MrPurplephrog this is ripped from vinyl. it was released in 1974.

  • Thumbs up if "Två tredjedelars Sagan om Ringen-Maraton" sent you here!

  • @SteveNaturell I'm not quite sure if I caught any of that, but it sounds damn saucy! :D

  • This skips paragraphs in my book.

  • I don't know if I should be listening to this coz I wanna see the movie unspoiled.

  • @leahcimrac it's up to you, but i recommend reading the book before the movie, just for comparisons.

  • I listen to this at night when going to sleep :P It's so nice hehe

  • @Aeryn717 Likewise :3 I used to fire up le Ipod for my afternoon royal snooze & have The Hobbit send me off. -_- zzzz... Then I'd wake up two hours later with the cord wrapped around my neck, the ear pieces nowhere to be found, & dribble on my pillow ._.

  • @Aeryn717 Haha same! I always go to bed listening to this, its so peaceful. And when i wake up i always forget the whole thing and have to listen to it over again :p

  • @jsrpictures HAHAAH me too! I dont think I have actually made it to part 2 yet xD Hahaha

  • @Aeryn717 lol I sure havent, I remember last night tho, im on the part where the like dwarfs get caught by the trolls and like bilbo bagins is hiding in a bush.. thats the last i remember lol

  • @Aeryn717 Me too, especially because of the music.

  • I purchased this as an audio cassette some years ago. Many thanks for putting it in this format.

  • Comment removed

  • who dislikes this???

  • The book version that I have has different dialogue....CURSE YOU PUBLISHERS!!!

  • I love Nicol Williamson! Merlin FTW! =)

  • Hello! Thank you so much for downloading! I am wondering if there is anyway I can download to my computer to keep?

  • @yangerone There's a free program ye can download called "Youtube Downloader". Just Google it my friend, it'll be the first search result. Using the program is pretty straight forward. Let me know if ye have any problems using it though. :3

  • @yangerone Right click on the video and download it to Real Player (assuming you have Real Player on your computer). Real Player also converts the video to mp3 or other formats.

  • @yangerone there's an easier way of downloading this file. all you have to do is this: 1. click on the URL of this page, and copy it. 2. in a separate window, go to file2hd.com, and paste the URL in the URL box. 3. click yes on the agreement, select movies beneath the agreement. 4. click on "get files" which is right next to the URL box, and viola. you'll have a choice of standard quality, or high. i say to use a separate window for this cause it makes it easy for getting parts 2 and 3 as well.

  • @yangerone i really do not know if it IS easier than youtube downloader. that does sound pretty straight forward, but the way i said is very easy. so try both methods.

  • thank you

  • @lionkinglover2662 Hey, because it's you ;)

  • I'm so glad to find this, I've never read the books (yet) but refused to see the movies so when I eventually read (or listened to lol) the books, my imagination would not be formed from the film. I read the first 5 HP book, then saw films and now for 6 and 7 all I could see were the movie sets, I forget how I used to visualize it myself :(

  • Thank you so much!! I've been looking for this for years :D

  • haha.. Gollum's voice and words are funny!

  • For some reason I felt like looking for this part in the novel, lol! And I noticed that the scenes (the ones I listened to in this vid) have been shortened; a few details were cut. Only small parts, though.

  • thank you for uploading this, it still is one of the best books i've read just fantastic

  • Nice audiobook

  • This is fantastic!

  • Thanks for uploading this! Nicol Williamson is truly a master of voices (And the best Merlin of all time)

  • ... Now thats what I'm Tolkien about....

  • @mrfoozy47 hahaha good pun

  • Youre skipping to many words the book is way different than what the guys reading!

  • lol to me Bilbo sounds like Hagrid from Harry Potter on helium

  • Oh yeah this is great! Ive listened to it 3 times in the last week.

  • @IdrilAsling Im pretty sure its english Actor Nicol Williams, best know for Merlin in Excalibur. As for any difference from the book you read or own are due to the well known fact Tolkien was alway rewriting, refining his works. If Im not wrong I think there are 3 versions of The Hobbit. Im pretty sure this is the first version.

  • this pretty much skipped the whole first page on my version

  • Just wondering, do you think this would work for say 9th grade summer reading? i hope so...

  • thankkkkkk youuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why the hell does bilbo sould like an irish farmer

  • Is it wrong that i hear dildo instead of bilbo ? :P jk jk

Thanks for this. Really really great.

  • @kaoshani :3

  • the only problem is, it's not exact I have the book yet it's a bit off missing the first couple of pages and the first 2 pages he reads it's different, I'm sure the same story line comes up but it IS different and if you want the full experience I would recommend getting the book.

  • Is this the complete Hobbit book in audio? Is the book also available for free? Please answer, thanks!

  • @BC2Recon This version is abridged, like most audio books I've heard. The LOTR is the most abridged audio book I've heard, as they cut out three entire chapters, the same as the movie. And I've posted here quite a few times already that the only place I know where to get this is from the Ares program.

  • thanks a lot! now i gotta get: Neverwhere by: Neil Gaiman

any chance you have this one?

  • is this unabridged?

  • @view1210 it's abridged, the uploader said so in his comments.

  • Thank you soooo much, if you can upload the wheel of time as well that would be awesome :)

  • Thank you sir

  • @Mr420rush No probs mah good man :j I please to aim.

  • Ace. Reminds me of being about six years old.

  • this wouldve been useful when I refused to read for class lol

  • Why is Golem Welsh?

  • Why are parts of the book skipped?

  • Brilliant one of my fav books

  • can you give me more info, who is the reader, is it from BBC? thanks

  • @GDQT The reader is Nicol Williamson, and I don't know where to get this apart from Ares.

  • @ThrobnWood thanks, I have another version, but this one is so much better.

  • can you send a link for the download??

  • @PuffMastaSteve I don't have a link unfortunately. Ye can download it from the program called Ares..

  • NEIGHBOURS EXON LABEL COMPUTER USERS GUIDE LAW COMPETITION GUIDE MUAHeyeEASTENDERS

    INDIRA VARMA

  • I tired to convert this into mp3, my computer basically stood up, swore, then walked off.

  • Very good, thank you. And I love good adventures on rainy days as well. ;)

  • @siskaybee Heh, heh ^_^ Deep within the confines of Pillow Fort the rainy dae adventures make comforting memories.

  • @ThrobnWood I actually played it, and will again, as I laid down. True, I fell asleep before the end of the first part, but what colorful and vivid pictures were going through my mind as I did. Not out of boredom mind you, but out of exhaustion of the days work. It made, and will make, for a great relaxation. I just pick up where last I remember, but you know the subconscious continues to hear even when the body is asleep. :)

  • @ThrobnWood Of course on that note, I have read it, and will be listening to it in it's entirety without sleeping..LOL...but oh what a relaxing way to drift off....

  • Rip prettyreckless270

  • 1 person is tone deaf. The other 96 people know a good audio book when they hear it. I want to buy a copy of this!!

  • How did you manage to download a 1 hour and 30 minute video. I thought they only allow 10 minutes maximum.

  • @cookiesncream789 After ye upload a certain number of vids they allow for longer ones. :>

  • I read The Hobbit several years ago, but never got around to reading the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. It's on my "books I need to read" list though!!!!

  • You have the audio book for lord of the rings also? can you private message me about where to find it?

  • lol,the only book i read it twice.....

  • I love this book so much! but to be honest, as a girl, I wish there were some women in this story :)

  • Thx for uploading, I was listening to a different version on prettyreckless207's account but then today it got banned for copyrght. Too bad , it was better than this one but this one is still good, off to part II !

  • is it just me..or Nichol Williamson does sounds like John Rhys-Davies

  • thanks a ton for this :-)

  • the songs in the recording are just like chantings

  • Does anyone know who the narrator is?

  • Comment removed

  • Does anybody know where I can buy this audiobook? The only version on Amazon is a newer one which I don't think sounds as good. Yeah, I could listen to it here, but I'd rather put it on my iPod. Is it only available on cassette?

  • @EliteHalfGeek Well I downloaded this from Ares, along with 'The Vampire Lestat', & 'LOTR'.. Which turned out to have three chapters cut just like the movie! >:T So that's where ye shall find it mah goood lady :> And yes, it does go quite well on le ipod.

  • @EliteHalfGeek visit keepvid.com, copy the you tube link and click download.

  • @EliteHalfGeek You could convert this vid into mP3 and then put on your ipod.

  • @EliteHalfGeek TORRENT IT hahaha

  • You should probably add to the description that this is an abridged version. (I wasn't sure, so I spent time searching the web to confirm that there were parts missing.) Thanks for posting!

  • how come the pictures aren't timed better with the part of the story being read? =(

  • Not as good as the dramatized version... but anything with hobbits in deserves the awesome label!

  • Gandalf's such a hippie. Constantly smoking herbs and crashing on Bilbo's floor when he's just met him.

  • the narrators voice remebers me of the movie hereafter with matt damon when he starts hearing a book to sleep

  • I've been looking all over for this reading of The Hobbit for years! I literally listened to this version on book tape until the cassette broke! I love the narrator's voice!
