  • sampling is hard.

    playing keys is hard.

I dont know how to play keys but i make melodies on top of my samples that are my own. (takes a lot of patience if you dont know how to play)

I was thinking about getting keyboard lessons very soon but its so damn expensive.

  • @Mark1988B you could learn how to play the keys here on youtube its free and you learn from simple chord progressions to top of the line shit jus look up for piano lesson or keyboard lessons thats how i learned...

  • Seems like a really intelligent guy.

  • can someone tell me how long a "beat" is he said he makes 30 beats and sends them out, i been producing a lil under a year and i make tracks that are usually over a minute but i can't imagine doin' that 30 times a week... so what exactly is one beat length? some one help...

  • @DJhowiedoit The length of a song man

  • @DJhowiedoit Not the length of a song. It could be as short as like 50 seconds as long as it has different parts of the verse, the hook, the break down or extra shit. Id guess most are around a minute and a half.

  • lions don't have to pay for music.

    ]

  • damn this niggas computer has a computer

  • its true samling is hard i mean i mean your turning a song from one genre to a whole nother anyone can sample but to do it correctly and make it sound fresh well 9th said it all

  • 2nd time watchin part 1.....part 2, limitless

  • whats the beat called om 5:30? anyone know?

  • @oscargsike little brother-lovin it

  • @oscargsike unless you talking about Destiny Child-Girl

  • @oscargsike Im thinkin its sumthing from slum village....

  • IM SAYING!

  • I don't sample cause I'm not clear on the rules of what a sampler can get sued for. I would love to though. Many of great ideas have crossed my mind.

  • @gordonjmuzik hey i feel you bruh...that's why it's such an art form within itself...also there's alot of homework and research within the publishing guidelines that needs to be done before any producer/beatmaker can make an attempt to sample an artist...basically a lot of politics but mostly money is behind it...and not every beatmaker can pull this paricular hip hop art...I understand why now there are so many original beats out here now but...even with originality..there's no substance..why?

  • Speakin the truth

  • Did this dude say 25 beats per week? Sometimes 8 per day? Ok... I'm way behind!

  • @kennylauderdale I know right lol

  • Comment removed

  • @kennylauderdale it's simple. sometimes i work on multiple projects at the same time. it can boost your creativity, rather than working on the same beat day in and day out. your ears get tired and bored.

  • @mroldschoolhiphop1 Ya COSIGN that man. It's like that for me as well, but also I ricochet from beat to be. Ill make a beat and hear a WHOLE new pattern after a while, and record that melody or sample on a new file. Sometimes I hear or create a pattern that belongs with another track. Just go with he flow, stay persistent, AND TAKE YOUR TIME haha. Thas what Ive learned man

  • @kennylauderdale

The Roots write 4 songs a day!

  • @kennylauderdale yeh it's alright making that many beats, but for guys that this it's just a normal routine. You can guarentee that half them beats will be just some throw away shit. Better off making a few quality beats that you gonna use, than 20+ which are just gonna be forgotten.

  • 9th is my hero...real talk.

  • damn 25 beats a week!!!!!!

  • haha ..he aint lyin when he said if a beatmaker dont like a beat they only play a little bit ,of it ,but to some one else they can make a masterpiece ..real shit ...respect to 9th

  • he talked about Just Blaze and in my opinion, after the "golden age" generation of producers like premier and pete rock, 9th wonder and just blaze are my favorites.

they're really dope on the production boards and have a unique style in sample manipulation. and by coincidence that just shows, once again, that the best producers we're djs before being beatmakers.

  • much respect to u 9th. there are Gods out here that sample and dj because we love it. So when u say u must know the history, u 100. And it all stems from the DJ's. Grabbing the past and bringing them back to the present is an Alchemist way of saying Thank you to the Pioneers.

  • as

  • exhibit c?? thats what im talkin bout

  • wonder bread. :D

  • Professor 9th Wonder. That last segment where he was talking about it being easier for a producer to compose something from scratch and making it his own vs. sampling it and making it his own is so true. I neva really thought about it, but it makes sense. Speaking as a producer, its incredibly hard to sample a record and put your own sound in it, as apposed to using a synth and some hi hats and drums and makin somethin original with your own sound

  • What's the first beat that plays? I love that melody, repetitive as it may be.

  • @FRdoubleEZY hold it down with buckshot

  • Let Me Down Easy

  • HOLY SHIT he did GIRL from destiny's Child I FUCKIN LOVE THAT BEAT!!!!!

  • sample-based beats are the absolute best. non-sample based cannot compare. and sampling is hard, especially coming up with a really dope pattern with ur chops. but yeah what he said about knowing what to sample and what not to, i wouldn't sample anything that someone already used, is that what 9th was talking about??

  • I #Respect what the brother said. However music has and always will change so dudes need to understand that. The East had it, then The West and Mid West, now the South got it. Make or listen to whatever you want, 1 person shouldn't determine what's wack just because a producer doesn't really play the keyboard.. It's all about the finish product and if it sounds good and makes you dance, what's the problem? Some people like lyrics others like beats, to each his own.....Peace

  • Beat makers if they dont like a beat they play a little bit of it lol true true

  • Sampling is kinda hard

  • Comment removed

  • Hmmm people didn't sample because of copyright issues

  • @PdubzCrew yeah, that and being lazy... ev thin 9th said is %100 true.

  • dis dude is the truth

  • i love how he sticks to sampling no matter what

  • @clearthesample I love that too, but it's always good to make your own stuff so peeps could sample you. ;)

  • @clearthesample i AGREE

  • I do respect him. Not many rappers tho these days. Im getting really tired of negative gun shit drugs, jail, bitches and money... fuck that its polluting a culture and a youthful generation. To the point most dont even think about the lines anymore.. "I got a gun, and run up in ya house/ tight ya bitch up n shoot you n the mouth" WTF. I mean like WTF.... WTF... Thankgod you got cats like this tho, playing keys, n beats... staying away from the I dun killed niggas. Nigga. Nigga Nigga rich!

  • @TripMadHatter Thats a Waka Flocka line aint it??? lmao! I agree.. The majority of hip hop has lost its content.... And artists that do make quality music, are over looked.

  • @JohnDough1989 B.O.B is the one man. Fuck that girly song. He is like ascneding in consciousness. He talks about astral projection. Flying through outer space. LUcid Dreaming. Hes the shit. for real tho.

  • @TripMadHatter Preach brother. It's cliche and dried out. Many like Waka and Gucci do that today and get over a million views on here. Real people that's about that such as NaS, AZ, Rakim, Tech 9ine, or Xzibit won't reach that margin because real Hip Hop is getting ignored. It's cool though brother. This is a perfect example of the word of God. The words of God won't be acknowledged until the end of time when it's too late for redemption. Out of all this real Hip-Hop out here...a shame. 3RD INF.

  • its driving me crazey....beat at 5:35????

    PM me with answer!!

  • @bboystealth88 Little Brother - Lovin' It

  • @MrDJKaaz whats the song that starts playing at 3:06? sht sounds raw

  • @flyingbigm its a called Wonderbread by Big Remo & 9th Wonder

  • 3:26 nigga what you yawnin at !

  • man i could listen to this cat talk for hours on end and never get bored.

  • @XxXShaggsXxX real talk....hes my fave producer!

  • 9th is speaking the truth right here.

  • I Subbed

  • 9th Wonder's response is consistent with what most great artists think: great music will always prevail over filesharing.

You got these greedy corporate bastards always suing and spouting a lot of crap instead of telling mainstream jokes like Justin Bieber to GTFO.

  • dope ass music and true what he's saying about the sample

  • 9th!
