"America has never ever been able to make a car".... really???.... so i guess fiat or citron is more of a car than Dodge or Ford???..... its kind of funny how this guy makes himself sound so ignorant.... and whats even funnier is how people view his opinions as credible... im sure that CAR & DRIVER could prove him wrong on many of his statements... ohh and i checked.... GM is ranked #1 in sales across the globe.... Facts are louder than opinions my friend
Please dont get sucked into the brainwashing if you are a skilled driver the ZR1 is the best weapon for the money and speed...be afraid ..very afraid of the ZR1
@seinfeldfan7898 your talking money and speed...but guess what brainwashed JDM fan..your talking alright ..talking bullshittz cause the numbers arent adding up at all GTR gets raped by the ZR1...thats reality not good japaneese marking to make posers who cant drive a real beast..
@FUCKWEZZY26 Yeah we make the worst cars whats sad is we have the power to do it the companies just want to make their money i hate when people buy them to support america when there not even made here screw that ill buy a car worth my money :D
Since everyone else is throwing in their opinion and thinking its gonna make a difference, Americas cars are the Best GM #1 Automaker in the World. Now let the hat commence!
jeremy: let's take a look at some of your beloved UK so-called sports cars:
Hillman...Sunbeam..Sprite...Midget...Spitfire....MGA.....the whole lot of them were pretty, underpowered, rusted quicker than a soup can, horrible electrics, the list is long.
@karolsc1000 That being said im almost 100% positive that the engine is NOT from a F-series truck...like not even close....and the Ford GT was engineered and produced in America, with mainly american parts, the ones that's mainly British is the GT40, similar, but separate car.
@karolsc1000 And that whole "being built in Detroit" thing...
It doesn't matter because Clarkson simply says these things to rile people up. Anyone who's seen Motorworld or a few choice episodes of Old Top Gear (or the reviews for the Dodge Viper, or the second American special...) would understand that. He does it to get Americans pissed off because, admittedly, it's easy to piss Americans off.
this is why most new american sports cars are built with out of country components the zr1 has Italian parts all over it the ford GT-500 not the mustang gt500. was engineered by a British car company. the viper also engineered by Italy my favorite part is how people talk shit about other countries vehicles when some of our so called all american bad ass cars are built by the same companies you put down
America a country where roads are wide and straight, where petrol is half the price compared to Europe, where a large portion of the population is made up of overweight affluent consumers and where families are much bigger. It is only natural that their cars will be very big, with very powerful engines, underdeveloped suspension and poor build quality.
These characteristics are not attractive in Europe, that's why GM mostly sells rebadged Daewoos in Europe now.
America has never been able to make a good car? So what about all the innovative US cars that have shaped the automotive world today? What about all the iconic designs, what about the new ones that are beating alot of euro cars in performance? And cars like the 57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham that is officially an innovative landmark car.
Sure corvettes may have been rattley etc but they were about pure H/P fun not sofisticated 'Ooo, look at my fancy leather trim orchestral sounding engine'..
what bugs me is that american car companys are making cars that they CAN SELL!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the hell good does it to make car for 200,000 when less that 1 % will ever afford one much less buy one. high end exotic sports cars need CONSTANT work tuning. Americas dont have the money time or the patients to wait for a 5000 dollar break job on a ferrari... Besides... there is not a speed limit in america that will help a Ferrari or any other exotic sports car....
@RyanWehr You are absolutely correct! VERY few Brits or Europeans can afford the exotic cars offered by Mercedes, BMW, Posche, Audi, and others. But many Americans can afford a Mustang or Camaro. There is nothing the Europeans make that can compare in that price range. And you are correct about maintenance. Keeping these German Sedans running will drain your wallet very quickly. My brother has a V8 Camaro and he rarely has to spend much money keeping it in top shape. Your comments are spot on.
@juscurious There are plenty of European cars that cost the same as a Camero or a Mustang that can compete with them. The only real difference is that European cars are built to a much higher standard (+much more fuel economic). American cars are famously made from thousands of parts built by the lowest bidder and fall apart very quickly as well as loose their value quickly. Clarkson isn't taken too seriously over here and I think you should do the same. He's allowed an opinion you know.
never made a good car? Ford Model T, first everymans car? introduced motoring to the general public? or does that not count because it didn't have 19 billion horsepower and a prancing horse on the front?
@EFGuitar1 So if Hitler caused 6 million Jews to be killed in the holocaust, but he helped 1 old Jewish lady safely across the German border from being killed, does that wipe clean of his countless massacres?
WAIT!!!! im sorry but i dont believe that everyone has a racetrack in their backyard.... the truth is American cars are BIG, and thats because unlike in Europe... we have the road space to go BIG. Another thing is American cars (Ford GT, Viper, Vette, and even Muscle Cars) feel awsome when beign driven on the road unlike European cars (Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, etc.) make u feel like a Ballerina, the only European country that has ever manufacture awsome cars is Italy.... Hands Down!!
@karolsc1000 dude German cars are amazing.... Germany and Italy are the 2 top vehicle producing cars in Europe.... there are some differences though... at least in my opinion... Italy makes fast, expensive, and precisely tuned cars... Germany on the other hand makes smooth, luxurious, stylish cars... but German and Italian cars are some of the most sought after cars i the world... im sure u already knew that.
@Antonio00Marco Yes the Germans do make fine cars. But keeping them running is hideously expensive. I know this from experience as I use to own a 3-Series. I get a kick out of the buffoon Jeremy Clarkson and his tests on $120,000 cars. He acts as if everyone could afford these vehicles. Less than 1% of Brits can afford these vehicles. So his show is a fantasy. However many Americans can afford a Mustang or Camaro. I know this because my brother has a SS Camaro and he's far from rich.
@Antonio00Marco wait... when i said European cars... i didnt mean to write that... i actually meant English cars, as u can tell by the cars i named after that...
I disagree, I have driven most of the modern day American cars such as ZO6, ZR-1 and Viper and also have been fortunate enough to get behind the wheel of several European sports car and I have to say that you European cars are not only funner to drive but offer much more connection feel with the road. Road & Track even stated that the Porsche Cayman S is the best drivers car that they have ever driven.
In addition - American cars can put out great horsepower and 1/4 mile times but that does not make them the funnest overall cars to own. I also personally do not want to own a big sports car, I buy sports cars for there nimble handling and sportiness, not for their luggage space and head room.
@seinfeldfan7898 u know what... i probably would if i had.... AGAZILLION dollars in my bank account.... but since i dont ill stick to a mustang gt......
@seinfeldfan7898 yea well im tired of ppl stereotyping us for war..... most of us are against it and only agreed to most of the wars because we were lied into them... as wikileaks showed the world.... Amercans are proud and we hold our heads high in the air, but we are not a violent people... nation-yes, but not the people.... many people say that our government is bought and paid for by big companies and acts in their interests... remember war is between countries and governments, not people
@seinfeldfan7898 American auto makers are focused on their goal.... sell as much product and raise as much capitol as possible.... and if u ask me... they are very good at doing just that... so yes theyre not wasting time making cars that only millionaires can afford-some of which dont even care to buy this cars-the market for those type of cars is too small... If u ask me, GM not only would have the finance to compete at the Agera level, but would do well if wanted too
Germany and Britain have made some excellent cars in the past. True much of Britain;s car industry is now foreign owned but most of them are still made in Britain and the quality still shows through. I mean if the Japanses and the Germans trust the brits in making cars (which they do as many of their models are made in the U.K) then they have gotta be good. Italian cars are pretty, but they are shit to drive and very unreliable...
@Blackmountain992 Every car produced has their goods and bads.... we all can admit to that... but what really bothers me is how jeremy tends point out and exaggerate on American cars.... if u ask me i think its more a personal thing to him.... and quite frankly i think he wines to much about Britain"Not producing a car to his liking"... and whats worse is that people take his OPINION and treat it like a FACT, its almost as if they are glorifying him....
@Island728 hey thanks for the insult... but u should try getting a life... did u really sit at ur computer and read through 2 weeks worth of comments..... a gotta say that "idiot" coming from a stranger online who has nothin to do with his life really offends me... haha
@Antonio00Marco my comment was one word and you replied with a paragraph of your assumptions. you are dumb as hell kid go home and get some homework done, idiot.
@Island728 hey look... u replied instantly... amazing... its almost like were talking live... i didnt get to sign off of my email when u replied... nice to meet u i guess... i would have replied with more but i choose to hold much whats on my mind to myself... now imma sign and go live my life... but it was nice meetin-well being insulted by u-and next time try to be more original "get some homework done"... bff haha
@Antonio00Marco i don't know what you are talking about, you replied instantly as well no different. i only read the first sentence from your reply, my time is not worth reading your pile of shit, keep writing idiot.
@Carmaddude im going to believe that you actually own that car. IM JEALOUS :) I own a 2010 335is and dont get me wrong, i ADORE IT. but lets face it, i would kill for your m3 man! enjoy it! ///M PWR!
@emanuelquijada17 I do own it, and wow! I rarely see 335is' around, its usually 3 series sedans or ///M3's. what color is your 335is? my ///M3 is alpine white and black Novillo leather.
@Carmaddude My 335is is Le Mans blue, which by the way, i recommend to all people. i get so many compliments on the color, ohh and it has black Dakota leather.
@Carmaddude BMW's are overated!! If I was going to buy German. I would rather have a Mercedes C63 AMG. Mercedes are much better in my opinion, but then again opinions don't matter. The quality and feel is nicer, but that's just my take on it.
i agree, americans is not onthier nature to make good cars. we need to let the japs or the europeans the car making.. america needs to stick what they do best, and thats invade countrys and build nuclear bombs....
@FUCKWEZZY26 Haha yup can't fight wit cars but bombs could do some damage...Funny how an American made the first Legit Automobile and now theyre the worst at making them now.
@FUCKWEZZY26 How about inventing the Computer, Electric Light, Telephone, Airplane, Motion Pictures, and Transistor, just to mention a few. And how about the Moon Landing back in 1969? You are an idiot behind the keyboard who is probably jealous of America and all of the things we have accomplished in such a short time. And yes we did invade countries, like for example France in 1944, but you know what, we left shortly after and turned the country back to the French.
@juscurious The 1st computational device was invented by Charles Babage (UK) the first Electric lightbulb was invented by Sir Joseph Wilson Swan (UK) the first telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell (UK). + you didn't invade France and give it back to them, you helped the British, Irish, Scotish, Australians, New Zealanders, Polish and so on liberate France... you call other people idiots whilst being an idiot yourself. Very childish and sad.
Yes...and or limey brothers, the British have produced some fine automobiles...the Land Rover (absolute piece of shit and unreliable) and the Jaguar (Another pile of shit)
@SOFSoldier1: Can I ask why the Land Rover is rubbish? Why does the world's biggest gold mine use them under ground where the circumstances are extreme? Because they'e unreliable? And Jaguar? Remember the E-Type? It was cheaper than a Ferrari and Maserati but still faster AND it is one of the best looking ever made. And then we have Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Noble M600, Ariel Atom, all Aston Martins and of course the McLaren F1. I'm pretty sure all of these cars have better reliability than a 'Vette
@thornrev at leaste for the last bart of the list, they are also far more expensive. you can get a corvette for just about $60,000, you can't get any of those cars in the last sentence for that much.
@thornrev And I'm pretty sure they don't! Newer Land Rovers are rubbish for reliability (Tata's fault and it's the same with Jaguar)! Older ones that depends. Some were very good and some weren't. At least when Ford owned Jaguar and Land Rover they reliability was decent for the price. They may have great quality as they always did, but I don't trust them nowadays. The same goes for Bentley, Rolls-Royce,and McLaren. Aston Martin however reliablity is questionalble, but it's probably just as bad!
@thornrev To sum it up really. Most modern British cars in reliability are just as rubbish as a Corvette, but then again even a Corvette would outlast a British car by a couple of years before it would have major problems. As most sportscars and supercars are terrible for reliability. It all boils down to how you take care and maintain it. That, however does not mean I don't like British cars. I especially love Aston Martin, older Jaguars and Land Rovers, and Rolls-Royce.
Ford didnt need the bailout money at the time the goverment was hadding out $80 billion, but they did reacive $ 9.5 billion dollars to reamp shops hmmm
I agree with Jeremy, ESPECIALLY with GM cars...wish they would have went under, we should have never bailed them out. GM apparently has the financial responsibility of a teenage girl with Daddy's credit card, next time GM screws up, we should just let them crumble. Ford is at least self sustaining, however, yes, I am glad I can choose to not buy American. I still have my Ford trucks, but, for the most part all Japanese cars :)
But lets be honest guys...Britian, Americans, we are from the same history. Americans can be arrogrants, but come on, we have a reason to be like you have a reason to be arrogrant and confident about your cars. We are allies guys, stop fighting on which nation is better, if it came down to it, we'll both be fighting side by side.
@dunhillsupramk3 Ah......idiots (idiots in general) you got to love them! As an American myself that award for the best cars go to the Japanese (affordable, reliable, and practical cars) and of course the Germans ( Luxurious, high Quality, and expensive cars). Then again most people (including you) would take an American car over lets say.....a Korean car, a Russian Lada (they are good at making trucks like Urals or GAZ's, but that's a different story), a Yugo, or....... a Chinese car (shivers)!
@Jared1452 you speak the truth but lately korea has been making some good cars (hyundai and kia) but in general i when ever i see a russian or chinese car driving behind me i get worried and just hope they don't get a break fail and for that same reason i may never buy a Chinese or Russian car like a Yugo or Great wall (the van)
The dude is just expressing his opinion on cars. True he is a bit biased, but he has reasons to be. Honestly, the europeans does beat us in manufactoring cars. I'm an Asain-American, and i will always serve my country when called for, down till the American flag drops. Americans do indeed do stupid shit and get away with it. Let me repeat, America is a "super power". Whether u like it or not, theres a reason why the United Nations headquaters are located in New York City
What a hypocritical piece of shit this fellow is. If he wants to denigrate and country he should begin with his own. Jesus, have you ever seen such pieces of shit as British cars? Good Christ, the Brits couldn't assemble a workable vehicle until Ford built a factory there. And don't get me started on Lucas electrics...
@beeroosterm Nothing wrong with British cars mate, land rover, Ac, jensen, lotus, tvr, ariel, lotus, mclaren, jaguar, capola, radical, catherham, westfield, ultima sports all make/made good cars, mass produced fords are crap anyway! most performance fords such as the escort cosworth, sierra cosworth, gt40, rs200,are British engineered, all ford rally cars are built and prepared by m-sport (British),
@puls4r1 Oh, please. If Clarkson had a real pair, he'd give the British car industry the public rogering it so richly deserves. There is everything wrong with the BCI. Christ, almost every manufacturer you've listed is a very low volume specialty maker except for LR and Jaguar - and they haven't been British-owned in 22 years. Don't even fucking get me started. And Clarkson eats cheeseburgers under his sheets at night after he's done fingering his boyfriend.
@beeroosterm although a subsidiary of tata todays jaguars and land rovers are designed in warwickshire and built near birmingham in England. So you think there is something wrong with producing specialist track cars as opposed to the mass produced shite that the usa churns out?! which only dumb brainwashed yanks buy anyway! ask yourself this!......if american cars are so good why are you lot the only cunts driving them?! I tried having a civilised chat with you, but you are obviously a troll!!
@puls4r1 Producing a few hundred specialty cars is nothing compared to producing millions. And fuck you. Be there with Clarkson and I'll choke you out as well, fuckface.
@beeroosterm You said british cars are shit, I listed some British car manufacturers that produced good cars, I dont care much for opinion only facts, like the fact that car production in the usa has dropped from 17million to 10 million in the last 3 years, or that $25billion government bailout , funny how your president blasted gm and chrysler for failed leadership, unrealistic business plans and a slow rate of reform,gm imports cars from korea, mexico, europe and china, happy trolling ya prick!!
@puls4r1 Who said they were good cars? Pretty to look at but mostly cobbled together pieces of shit (except McLaren). All are absurdly priced and for the rich only. How about a $23,000 Mustang with 305 hp and a full warranty? And Ford took no bailout money. Fuck you right back, limey-apologist...
@beeroosterm It seems like a rather keen hobby of yours is to roam around Top Gear videos discussing American cars upon which you moan incessantly about the opinions of the presenters' towards said cars. If you don't like what they have to say then why don't watch that god awful American version of Top Gear. I'm sure they give more than enough praise to even a pencil that was manufactured in the US, whilst endulging themselves on a cheeseburger of course.
@aspiringdrummer17 The American version is all I've really seen except for the YouTube stuff with Clarkson. I have to say I don't like the American version very much - but that doesn't change my opinion of that horse's ass Clarkson. That lumpy fucking hypocrite at best damns American iron with faint praise and it pisses me off. He is very, very far from being a real car guy any more (too much money/access). And it is my opinion that he eats cheeseburgers under the covers.
@beeroosterm Don't worry, my opinion of Clarkson is just a low as yours but you should really watch the episode where they have to buy British Leyland cars. He rips into them just as much as he would any American car. Half the time his criticisms aren't really what he thinks and are only done for the sake of TV. One think I've learnt during the last 8 years of Top Gear is to never take any of his opinions too seriously
I hate to say Jeremy is not that far off. That's thanks to the big three being controlled by the unions and the accountants. This recent 'near death' experience seems to have maybe reversed things.
hey come on man you need to show the whole thing he does say that he really likes the vet and also says that the horse power is unexpected and its intoxicating during the American road trip
that's why Malaysian people do not buy American Car...there was a saying before BUY BRITISH LAST (BBC) however there are a lot of British car in Malaysia like Vauxhall, Rover and etc but lately after the 80's it AMerican cars are really un-economical and tends to break down all the time, the Japanese have ruled the market in Malaysia ever since and Proton, Kia ,Hyundai is slowly catching up
I find it funny that everyone gets so worked up about Clarkson's comments. All he does is take the most popular American stereotypes and beat them until they're completely pointless. He's an entertainer, who cares if he hates America? Who is he, God? He's just another guy, and he's a damn funny one at that. Get over it.
all Americans are not losers or ass holes.. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, nor are we all illiterate.. This is so anti-Americanism its not funny.. I have yet to see Britain release a decent sports car.. I mean Jaguars come with a mustang engine but they weigh 4500lbs?
@eddieoxford actually the internet was officially invented by the United states government as well as the TCP/IP protocol or the "Department Of Defense model" as its been called.. ;-) so thank you good bye.. :-)
@TVRnGTR lol mclaren F1 doesn't impress me.. how about scc ultimate aero TT? how about the viper or the GT40.. or the Shelby cobra... all made records at Nuremberg.. or kicked ass in the lemans 24 hour.. i'm not saying Britain sucks but I'm saying America Doesn't!!
@Digdigs2 fuck it.. its spell check.. IDC.. your all assholes for generalizing.. "all Americans are dumb assholes" how so? was Steve Jobs or Bill Gates dumb? i believe your using the American invention of the personal computer and the Graphical Operating System
@karolsc1000 I'm a network engineer.. at 18 years of age i was working in New York City and getting 15/hour.. that was ALOT of money back then!! especially for my age.. I'm not trying to be an asshole but i think the generalization that Americans are all dumb rednecks is annoying! I don't want our military policing the world.. its our retarded government.. with the world policing
@xmodrock Use spell check then... it will still leave your grammar in a shambles, as demonstrated by your last post. Not all Americans are dumb, just those who assert that their country is the best on earth, in everything, repeatedly. Generally those who have never set foot outside the US. Also intelligence and the education to use it are different things. As for the syllabus in US schools, propaganda is not education.
@Digdigs2 i have been all through Europe.. and yes American schools are alot of propaganda and crap promoting the American way and America.. but i doubt other countries are very different.. Britain certainly isn't.. cause i see British folk that are just as bad as everyone else promoting a country..
This guy has such a strong hate for Americans, smug piece of shit. They totally did a smear job on Americans in the America special. A Bolivian guy in the Bolivia special nearly knocked him off a cliff, and has nothing hateful to say about them. Instead, they film the worst towns they could find in America, catch footage on fat people they come across, and instigate a fight with people.
@Digdigs2 I live in the US. Fat people without guns, and no social or political awareness, and an education rated below some 3rd-world nations is more like it.
@Digdigs2 everybody has a gun, i have four in my house, the only fat people are the ones that came from your country, just keep this in mind, if it wasnt for america, you assholes would all be speaking german today and goosestepping to macarena
@34D2234 Obesity stats: USA(No1) 30.6%, Mexico(no2) 24.2%, UK 23% world average 14.1% Italy 8.5%... so no, the US is the fattest on earth. I mention Italy because that's where I'm from, contrary to any assumption you may be making...
@34D2234 Britain had turned the tide against the Germans North Africa before the USA had recovered from Pearl Harbor. USSR had turned the tide at Stalingrad, so in Europe the US just sped things up a little. USA Pacific role was more important as destruction of Japanese carriers at midway was the beginning of the end, even though the majority of the Japanese army was being tied down by Chinese and British forces. So the USA entered at an opportune moment, but did not 'win the war'.
@Digdigs2 wait man mexico has a strict gun law you can only have one gun per house hold and the biggest one you can get is a shotgun plus there is a 6 month waiting period and there is only one gun store in the whole country and its a government court office. most of the guns used by the cartels in mexico that are used in savage murders come from the US, smuggled by legal Americans citizens for big big money
@kakarot138 'ONLY" one gun is still a gun, and pistols are a bigger problem than shotguns - the point still stands either way. When guns are easily obtainable, either via stupid laws (USA) or being a neighbour to a country with stupid laws (Mexico), the death count goes up. Guns kill, thats all there is to it.
@34D2234 I agree and when push comes to shove and shit hits the fan, they had better hope they are American allies. People just don't get exactly what's going to happen. We are in the same position as Germany was before Hitler took power, only difference is he didn't have nukes or an armed forces near as large as ours, and no other country now does. These other countries also don't realize almost all Americans are ready to die for their country. I will give my life for my country without thought
@GMisurdaddy Hitler's rise to power was bankrolled by US companies - General Motors, Ford, General Electric amongst others. The funding was engineered in large part by Prescott Bush. As per usual a war was started in part because the US stuck its nose in where it didn't belong. Then, 1941, US citizens like yourself gave their lives without a second thought for a country that had helped engineer the very war they were fighting, kind of like how the US armed and trained Bin Laden. Start thinking.
@Digdigs2 Wars are started on purpose, it's racket to make money, it's a proven fact of history. I will indeed fight and die to protect the interests of the advancement of the United States. Are you ready to do the same for your country? Funny every time something happens in the world they look to us for help, look at Japan, when Korea test launched a nuclear weapon they looked to us to do something about it, just like WWII, without us, as 34D2234 said...
@GMisurdaddy LOL...WHAT do they teach you in propaganda school over there????? USA entered the war after El Alamein, the Brits had turned the tide, the Russians too... the US entered at an opportune moment once the war had already turned. Not saying I blame them, but seriously - so sick of that totally inaccurate line 'if it wasn't for us... yadda yadda yadda'
Do some reading, it'll help with that swollen head.
@vorevox You must be dumber then a sack of potatoes, because America went into war because of Pearl Harbor, they attacked Japan and in that time Japan and Germany were allies. So it made sense for America to fight the Japanese and the Germans, plus Britain during that time wasn't doing bad at all, but weren't so good either.
@WWIIStudy101 ...The subject wasn't about the Japanese. The subject was about if Britian needed America and WC asked America for help because the lend lease wasn't working as well. You really think he wanted to risk defeat by being over pridefull?? America could have left Germany alone and fought Japan, You know Hitler would have loved that it would be a lot less people to fight but in the end Hitler would have turned on everybody.
@Digdigs2 ..Bush was under control of the Thyssen family. He was just a puppet. Hitler was a liar, look at what he did to Russia. He signed a pact of non aggression and he attacked Russia. The so called netural Swiss money laundred his stolen gold and diamonds to fund Hitlers war. Others on line say it was a well known Jewish family that helped fund Hitler to create a holocaust so the state of Israel would be formed. All that said nobody could have predicted what Hitler was really up to.
@34D2234 ...or reason. I guess if that makes me a dumb fat American, then they should know that's the making for a scary monster. And these dumb fucks think it's a good thing to have no guns? That's good to know ;)
@kppdsuckakppd i didn´t "bitch about American cars not handling" i´m just saying that european cars are better than american cars in every single way exept size and brute force, which isn´t necessary, and yes it´s also about class
@yatter1 geez, calm down son. I was just making a joke about our war for independence. No need to get your panties in a wad. People like you really do take the fun out of YouTube with your adolescent and ignorant behavior. And I sure hope you weren't referring to-well any war that both or countries have been involved in. I'm thankful for the brave men fighting against tyranny and aggression, despite a what flag it's on their shoulder. Plenty of good men, too many good men have died for both.
@karolsc1000 That being said im almost 100% positive that the engine is NOT from a F-series truck...like not even close....and the Ford GT was engineered and produced in America, with mainly american parts, the ones that's mainly British is the GT40, similar, but separate car.
The3rdID 2 weeks ago
@karolsc1000 And that whole "being built in Detroit" thing...
It doesn't matter because Clarkson simply says these things to rile people up. Anyone who's seen Motorworld or a few choice episodes of Old Top Gear (or the reviews for the Dodge Viper, or the second American special...) would understand that. He does it to get Americans pissed off because, admittedly, it's easy to piss Americans off.

this is why most new american sports cars are built with out of country components the zr1 has Italian parts all over it the ford GT-500 not the mustang gt500. was engineered by a British car company. the viper also engineered by Italy my favorite part is how people talk shit about other countries vehicles when some of our so called all american bad ass cars are built by the same companies you put down
TheCrooked88 1 month ago
America a country where roads are wide and straight, where petrol is half the price compared to Europe, where a large portion of the population is made up of overweight affluent consumers and where families are much bigger. It is only natural that their cars will be very big, with very powerful engines, underdeveloped suspension and poor build quality.
These characteristics are not attractive in Europe, that's why GM mostly sells rebadged Daewoos in Europe now.

So what about all the innovative US cars that have shaped the automotive world today? What about all the iconic designs, what about the new ones that are beating alot of euro cars in performance?

RyanWehr 1 month ago 4
@RyanWehr You are absolutely correct! VERY few Brits or Europeans can afford the exotic cars offered by Mercedes, BMW, Posche, Audi, and others. But many Americans can afford a Mustang or Camaro. There is nothing the Europeans make that can compare in that price range. And you are correct about maintenance. Keeping these German Sedans running will drain your wallet very quickly. My brother has a V8 Camaro and he rarely has to spend much money keeping it in top shape. Your comments are spot on.
juscurious 1 month ago
@juscurious There are plenty of European cars that cost the same as a Camero or a Mustang that can compete with them. The only real difference is that European cars are built to a much higher standard (+much more fuel economic). American cars are famously made from thousands of parts built by the lowest bidder and fall apart very quickly as well as loose their value quickly. Clarkson isn't taken too seriously over here and I think you should do the same. He's allowed an opinion you know.

@Antonio00Marco what about german cars? mercedes, bmw,.....
karolsc1000 1 month ago 12
@karolsc1000 dude German cars are amazing.... Germany and Italy are the 2 top vehicle producing cars in Europe.... there are some differences though... at least in my opinion... Italy makes fast, expensive, and precisely tuned cars... Germany on the other hand makes smooth, luxurious, stylish cars... but German and Italian cars are some of the most sought after cars i the world... im sure u already knew that.
Antonio00Marco 1 month ago
@Antonio00Marco Yes the Germans do make fine cars. But keeping them running is hideously expensive. I know this from experience as I use to own a 3-Series. I get a kick out of the buffoon Jeremy Clarkson and his tests on $120,000 cars. He acts as if everyone could afford these vehicles. Less than 1% of Brits can afford these vehicles. So his show is a fantasy. However many Americans can afford a Mustang or Camaro. I know this because my brother has a SS Camaro and he's far from rich.

996TwinTurbo911 1 month ago
In addition - American cars can put out great horsepower and 1/4 mile times but that does not make them the funnest overall cars to own. I also personally do not want to own a big sports car, I buy sports cars for there nimble handling and sportiness, not for their luggage space and head room.

Antonio00Marco 3 weeks ago

SOFSoldier1 2 months ago
I'm pretty sure all of these cars have better reliability than a 'Vette
thornrev 2 months ago
@thornrev at leaste for the last bart of the list, they are also far more expensive. you can get a corvette for just about $60,000, you can't get any of those cars in the last sentence for that much.
flare66966 2 months ago
@flare66966: You can take any British/European car for $60,000 and it will have better quality than a Corvette
thornrev 2 months ago
@thornrev fine, but good luck finding one as powerful and fast.
flare66966 2 months ago
@flare66966: I can't, the Corvette in unique because it has a massive engine and costs 60k, but the whole car is crap, wich is why it costs 60k
thornrev 2 months ago
@thornrev And I'm pretty sure they don't! Newer Land Rovers are rubbish for reliability (Tata's fault and it's the same with Jaguar)! Older ones that depends. Some were very good and some weren't. At least when Ford owned Jaguar and Land Rover they reliability was decent for the price. They may have great quality as they always did, but I don't trust them nowadays. The same goes for Bentley, Rolls-Royce,and McLaren. Aston Martin however reliablity is questionalble, but it's probably just as bad!
Jared1452 1 month ago
@thornrev To sum it up really. Most modern British cars in reliability are just as rubbish as a Corvette, but then again even a Corvette would outlast a British car by a couple of years before it would have major problems. As most sportscars and supercars are terrible for reliability. It all boils down to how you take care and maintain it. That, however does not mean I don't like British cars. I especially love Aston Martin, older Jaguars and Land Rovers, and Rolls-Royce.

@Pyrofreak321 I've been to the US... fat people with guns and no social or political awareness pretty much sums it up....
Digdigs2 3 months ago
@Digdigs2 Then you haven't been to America.

Digdigs2 3 months ago
@34D2234 Britain had turned the tide against the Germans North Africa before the USA had recovered from Pearl Harbor. USSR had turned the tide at Stalingrad, so in Europe the US just sped things up a little. USA Pacific role was more important as destruction of Japanese carriers at midway was the beginning of the end, even though the majority of the Japanese army was being tied down by Chinese and British forces. So the USA entered at an opportune moment, but did not 'win the war'.

@34D2234 Gun homicides per 100,000:
RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS:
Mexico - 9.88
USA - 7.07
CONTROLLED GUN LAWS:
Italy - 1.66
Australia - 0.44
England - 0.07
Hmmm.... I know where I'd rather be, NOT in a country with uneducated gun-toting morons like yourself.
Digdigs2 3 months ago
@Digdigs2 wait man mexico has a strict gun law you can only have one gun per house hold and the biggest one you can get is a shotgun plus there is a 6 month waiting period and there is only one gun store in the whole country and its a government court office. most of the guns used by the cartels in mexico that are used in savage murders come from the US, smuggled by legal Americans citizens for big big money
kakarot138 3 months ago

GMisurdaddy 3 months ago

@Digdigs2 ...if it wasn't for us, you ungreatful sons of bitches would all be speaking German with a portrait of Hitler on your currency.
GMisurdaddy 3 months ago
@GMisurdaddy LOL...WHAT do they teach you in propaganda school over there????? USA entered the war after El Alamein, the Brits had turned the tide, the Russians too... the US entered at an opportune moment once the war had already turned. Not saying I blame them, but seriously - so sick of that totally inaccurate line 'if it wasn't for us... yadda yadda yadda'
Do some reading, it'll help with that swollen head.
Digdigs2 3 months ago
@Digdigs2 ..The Brits turned the tide so much that Winston Churchill asked America to join the war.
vorevox 3 months ago
@vorevox You must be dumber then a sack of potatoes, because America went into war because of Pearl Harbor, they attacked Japan and in that time Japan and Germany were allies. So it made sense for America to fight the Japanese and the Germans, plus Britain during that time wasn't doing bad at all, but weren't so good either.
WWIIStudy101 3 months ago
@WWIIStudy101 ...The subject wasn't about the Japanese. The subject was about if Britian needed America and WC asked America for help because the lend lease wasn't working as well. You really think he wanted to risk defeat by being over pridefull?? America could have left Germany alone and fought Japan, You know Hitler would have loved that it would be a lot less people to fight but in the end Hitler would have turned on everybody.
vorevox 3 months ago
@Digdigs2 ..Bush was under control of the Thyssen family. He was just a puppet. Hitler was a liar, look at what he did to Russia. He signed a pact of non aggression and he attacked Russia. The so called netural Swiss money laundred his stolen gold and diamonds to fund Hitlers war. Others on line say it was a well known Jewish family that helped fund Hitler to create a holocaust so the state of Israel would be formed. All that said nobody could have predicted what Hitler was really up to.
vorevox 3 months ago
@34D2234 ...or reason. I guess if that makes me a dumb fat American, then they should know that's the making for a scary monster. And these dumb fucks think it's a good thing to have no guns? That's good to know ;)

@kppdsuckakppd i didn´t "bitch about American cars not handling" i´m just saying that european cars are better than american cars in every single way exept size and brute force, which isn´t necessary, and yes it´s also about class

I don't if we make good cars or not, but we sure as hell can make good weapons. You should know, we saved your asses from speaking German.
