i havnt played mechcommander games in a while i have gold and mc2 but yea i kno all the missions by heart all the original port arthur and the expansion, and on that level u got that shit setup wrong lol leave mystique and sum shitty like hawk behind defending the base and have a lil 3 or 4 man force take that base over, u gotta have the right setup, cause u gotta salvage that mad cat in mission 3 and put hunter in that and lynx in a cent or hollander with a lil guy or w/e and its an easy win GG
They were annoyed that the map was black but once uncovered you always had line of sight for that area even if you were on the otherside of the map. because there was no fog of war, like in c&c it was a black map until uncovered but there was always a fog of war on the map you had explored but didn't have LOS of. nowadays some RTS games do that, some have uncovered field but have a fog of war present only with no black shroud.
Ther eis a big hill just north of the enemy base. You will get a huge visual Advantage. Now at the same time do a attack on the base with a airstrike on the enemy mobile barracks. Plus if you want to hit the tanks they will blow out the turrets. Then all you have is 2 ullars and a few light weight cars to worry about
You guys know those CD cleaning kits are just automotive polishing compound right? You can buy a whole cup of it for a 1/4 of those kits.. Use a VERY fine cloth to apply it. Clean with isopropyl alcohol.
MCX works fine on XP and on most linux distributions 100%
o_0 you made it look very easy lol. well the original version isn't very hard. it needs strategy.
P.S: every time i run a mision on the game it needs 3 min.s to load it and in many misions when it finally finishes loading it stucks in-game :( do you think this is because of windows xp (it's a 10 years old game after all) or my scratched and shit CD?
I don't think its your Windows XP. Try to get your CD cleaned and fixed at a game store, they should have CD repair kits. Or you can buy one from any computer store for about £10. If not get a new CD, they only cost like £1 these day ^_^ .... if that doesn't stop your problems then i'm not sure. I played this game on XP many many times and its worked fine.
hmm nice idea i forgot that game stores and DVD clubs can clean your cds. though today i remembered something: my game was working fine until i gave it to my cousint for a week...well if my game don't get fixed i hope he's ready to die :P
If I was a noob the i would be using the strongest mechs for every mission, the fact that i succeed proves that isn't that case. it's apparent you have no clue as to what a noob is, so don't make yourself look stupid on the internet.
The final level I swarmed the enemy with light to high light mechs, it made it much harder for them with gunfire coming from 12 small targets rather then 2-3 huge targets
i love that mission! i always do it without almost any of my mechs with a scatch on them. the best thing is to do is airstrike the fuel tanks to take out the pover and airstrike the vielchle baravks with the bulldog. at the same time you have 2-3 mechs on each side of the base attacking it,
Very quick and efficient tactics. Commendable. You also know the game controls better than I do. I don't know how to change force groups, for example.
I would point out that there is a hill just on the other side of the river from the base. Had you gone up the hill, you would have been able to place an artillery strike on the gas tanks and destroyed the generator that way, which would have taken all the turrets offline. You could have saved a lot of damage that way.
Yeah, there are better ways of doing things, you know. But I thought I could take them. I new there were two bulldogs, but I forgot there were two strikers also. But No man left behind, so alls good for the next mission.
I was planning to capture. Either way, the turrets were nothing compared to 8 to 12 vehicles which could have come online if I had attack any turret. See thats the reason I took out the vehicle crew bays first. That way I could take out the two strikes and capture the turret. Otherwise I'd have to face extra cars and two Bulldogs.
Cars wouldn't have done much and bulldogs just need to be shot at from medium to long range, shouldn't have been any trouble if you'd loaded up on ppc's. And you wouldn't have to spend so much on repairing your mechs.
Actually the bullbogs need about 3 shots from a ppc to take them out. And thats direct hits. And the cars can get annoying with 8 cannons firing at you. Besides the strikers aswell.
Like I said in the info >>>> I played this is in MechCommander Original, not Gold. The Original has no skill level it is set perminently at Hard. I remember people complaining back in 1998 that it was too hard. So in Gold they added difficulty levels and changed the over all difficulty to regular. The original is in Hard mode. I have both and Hard in Gold is not as difficult as the Original game. For me anyway.

i read people were really annoyed at the way you have to uncover the map, but isn't that basically how all strategy games work now

Whatever works for you. I just polish my CDs with a cloth or the breast of my shirt if nothing is handy.
And MCX works fine on Vista 32bit also, just make sure set compatibility to 98 on the CD before installing the game.
