because he hesitated she knew he wasn't going to say it...
so when she says 'thats all i needed to hear' its the reason why she wont stay and goes with marcus..cos he can't say 'i love you'

he doesn't say "can't you see" but "then you'd see".
he means that she would have seen him,see how he really is,and he was scared that she wouldn't have liked it.
is it clear now?
