the thing about this song is that because the the lyrics fight in so tightly with the music and its sung at such a fast pace which makes it hard to song as good when sung in a language other than what it was written in (English)

I love both versions of this song. =) Japanese, English, none of them are particularly better than one another. It's really impressive that they can still make it retain that certain Tim Burton quality even after translating it to another language.

You do have to give credit for the voice acting in the english version though. I can't pick out tones as well in other languages, so that may be why, but every time I listen to the English versions of these songs, I get chills.

oh no kidding they must have slowed down or sped up certain parts to match the visual with the audio. It's usually easy to dub a movie if you speak a language of european origin and the movie is from a country that speaks a language of european origin. But A language from asia translating a european language.....I tried to once it is extremely difficult.
