From what I understand, each game is it's own story and doesn't affect the others. However, Persona 4 takes place several years after Persona 3 and the location and some of the characters from Persona 3 show up.

The piano, the guitar, along with the chorus that is a remix of the Velvet Room theme together makes this my favorite video game track ever made.

Both themes are pretty good, but everyone kinda has to remember that "The Almighty" isn't technically the final boss theme. "The Genesis" is the final boss theme.

There's no real getting around it; because the battle is such a war of attrition, the music had to be something that wouldn't wear on your ears over time. This music certainly delivered.
This soundtrack never really appealed to me. It seems like just a bunch of slow rock songs at the exact same tempo with generic licks. Honestly, any one of them could be the random encounter theme for any turn-based RPG.
Yeah, and the boss battle is like an hour to kill, so you have to stay focused if you don't want to die during the whole battle. That alone can make you shit bricks lol.
I don't know if you've gotten a Persona game yet since this was posted. But as I saw it, there were some references of P3 in P4, but the stories are mostly nonlinear otherwise, except for the timeline. Gameplay wise, P3 and P4 are similar, except for a couple of differences, namely the dungeon aspect and a couple of minor things in the battles themselves. They're both 60+ hours of gameplay though, not really including sidequests.
When you go through persona 3 and 4, if you have a list of video game characters you don't like then you are likely to need to rearranged it, i.e include Takeshi and, I don't want to spoil things people that haven't played 4.
the whole presona series is linear but not obviously linear, mostly the protagonists from the first game appear in both of the seconds, i don't know about persona 3 and 4 though, allthough apparently you would see implications for persona four in persona 1, but the psp version so far is the only american relase to have this.
I can't wait until they make a persona game for the playstation 3. As much as I loved the persona series, I'd love for it to have a MUCH longer storyline. (although it was already massive) What if the game was over 4 school years? Or if the days were in real time? Maybe they can have a level up kind of system where lvl 99 is not maximum, but something like 150 is, due to the massive length of the game.

It's a new story per game, but Persona 4 hints to something about Pesona 3.
If U do get Persona 3, then get Persona 3 FES, U'll get more for Ur money that way. The FES game has a second story in it that isn't effected by the main story, it's kinda like an add on.
Personally, Persona 3 is a lot harder than Persona 4 and tends to move at a snail's speed at some points (seeing as the bosses have to come to U). I'd recommend Persona 4, it's soundtrack is more alive than 3, but covers the weakspots
A second story? Is it like in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers Of Time/Darkness/Sky where after you complete the main story, you get to play through another story?
Not quite, this is like an "aftermath" story on what happens after the main story. But rather than playing as the Hero, U play as Aegis in her own little story. But she somehow gains the Hero's ability to use multiple Persona, U'll also have a (somewhat) new dungeon that the whole story will take part in. (Nothing carries over by the way, that's how it's completely separate)
@LostGamerJ Really? I saw Persona 4 as a lot harder, since you didn't know when you had to fight bosses until 2-4 days before. Also, in P4, you had to pay money to recover after exploring dungeons, which was completely unaffordable. Leveling up was so day-consuming. I personally was far more successful with P3. Now FES, that's a different story........lol
P3 had some periods of waiting, and it mostly felt like u were waiting for the boss even if u could take them already. As for P4, lvling was a lot easier for some odd reason and I was able to lvl the Hermit Arcana pretty fast, I was able to crush the boss in the first day I knew where he/she/it was.
Though I am looking forward to seeing what they did for P3P
Haha, I agree with you. I found P4 much easier than P3 but I just finished P3P and i found that one easier than P3 AND P4. I guess it's just the experience with the games. The social links were so much easier this time around AND the bosses.
Yea, it's cause they added some features from P4 into P3P which made it a lot easier, and I haven't noticed many differences from it and P3 FES. I only got it cause I wanted to c the Heroine's version and hear some of the new tunes. (I got a hate like what Jumpei wears for putting a reserve on it)
@TheDeg5555 That may be the only example though, in P3 the closest u get is cing characters that appear in P4, and in P4 u only get to c and hear about a few of the characters that appeared in P3, and that's about it.
Persona 3 has AI controlled characters that sometimes make stupid actions but overall are pretty good. It also has a darker story, and art style.
Persona 4 has party members you can control. The characters are better. The only down point it, there are a lot of down points in the game where you won't be in a dungeon, but buiding up your social links/stats. Plus, there are about 3 hours of plot before you can actually begin the game.
I say start with Persona 4, the only thing that ties the games together is the recurring character Igor, the fact that 4 plays out one year later and some character cameos.
Plus Persona 4 has less ways to screw you over, even if there is some.
it's not so hard if you use your words rather than a tantrum and explain why you find yourself mature enough to tolerate the M game and not do anything stupid.... i'm planning on making my own video game review show for parents and kids so no one get confused

wow... i never listened to this during the compition, but now i realise it deserved number 1, followed closely by darkstar core, of corse! i'm gonna listen to 'the almighty' everone seems to like, and the persona games. wow...

It's a new story per game, but Persona 4 hints to something about Pesona 3.
If U do get Persona 3, then get Persona 3 FES, U'll get more for Ur money that way. The FES game has a second story in it that isn't effected by the main story, it's kinda like an add on.
Personally, Persona 3 is a lot harder than Persona 4 and tends to move at a snail's speed at some points (seeing as the bosses have to come to U). I'd recommend Persona 4, it's soundtrack is more alive than 3, but covers the weakspots

A second story? Is it like in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers Of Time/Darkness/Sky where after you complete the main story, you get to play through another story?

Not quite, this is like an "aftermath" story on what happens after the main story. But rather than playing as the Hero, U play as Aegis in her own little story. But she somehow gains the Hero's ability to use multiple Persona, U'll also have a (somewhat) new dungeon that the whole story will take part in. (Nothing carries over by the way, that's how it's completely separate)

@LostGamerJ Really? I saw Persona 4 as a lot harder, since you didn't know when you had to fight bosses until 2-4 days before. Also, in P4, you had to pay money to recover after exploring dungeons, which was completely unaffordable. Leveling up was so day-consuming. I personally was far more successful with P3. Now FES, that's a different story........lol

P3 had some periods of waiting, and it mostly felt like u were waiting for the boss even if u could take them already. As for P4, lvling was a lot easier for some odd reason and I was able to lvl the Hermit Arcana pretty fast, I was able to crush the boss in the first day I knew where he/she/it was.
Though I am looking forward to seeing what they did for P3P

Haha, I agree with you. I found P4 much easier than P3 but I just finished P3P and i found that one easier than P3 AND P4. I guess it's just the experience with the games. The social links were so much easier this time around AND the bosses.

Yea, it's cause they added some features from P4 into P3P which made it a lot easier, and I haven't noticed many differences from it and P3 FES. I only got it cause I wanted to c the Heroine's version and hear some of the new tunes. (I got a hate like what Jumpei wears for putting a reserve on it)

@LostGamerJ they aren´t exactly separated stories, in persona 2 you can even have characters from the first game in your party for a time period

@TheDeg5555 That may be the only example though, in P3 the closest u get is cing characters that appear in P4, and in P4 u only get to c and hear about a few of the characters that appeared in P3, and that's about it.

Persona 3 has AI controlled characters that sometimes make stupid actions but overall are pretty good. It also has a darker story, and art style.
Persona 4 has party members you can control. The characters are better. The only down point it, there are a lot of down points in the game where you won't be in a dungeon, but buiding up your social links/stats. Plus, there are about 3 hours of plot before you can actually begin the game.
Both games are good.
{ersonally I like P4.

I say start with Persona 4, the only thing that ties the games together is the recurring character Igor, the fact that 4 plays out one year later and some character cameos.
Plus Persona 4 has less ways to screw you over, even if there is some.

it's not so hard if you use your words rather than a tantrum and explain why you find yourself mature enough to tolerate the M game and not do anything stupid.... i'm planning on making my own video game review show for parents and kids so no one get confused

It's really not worth the M rating. The only reason is use of the S word as well as one of the persona designs having nipples you can barley see.
