I've found that biometrics had lately been reinforced in many Airports around the world, as well as country borders. When I last visited home, there was what they called to be the "fast track' passport check in, where you basically insert you governmental issued ID card, and scan your thumb to basically pass through passport control.
The U.S and Canada are also seeking to reinforce security and fast check ins by introducing newer means of biometrics at the borders.
From what I understand Biometrics technology became an emerging trend from the post 911 attack. The reasoning behind this is self explanatory; to combat possible terrorist attacks via facial/behavioural/motion/physical recognition practices. However, I do think that this automated technology has limited capabilities. For example, under face recognition surveillance, a person wearing glasses would only hinder the monitor from identifying the person/face.
If Biometrics provides a non-transferable means to identify people, it will continue to be adopted to relieve privacy concerns. Thanks for putting up this great video, it was very informative.
Thanks for the video on Biometrics, but what about people who try to spoof certain systems that accept physiological traits as opposed to behaviourally based systems, are there any things we should do to further protect our information if we are using biometrics?

Biometrics is the newer innovation of securities and management control. I believe in this because of all the fraud out there such as credit card fraud, identity theft, Trojan back doors and etc. The way you are measured through physiological and psychological methods is a more personal identification system than just a finger scanner or password.
Bio metrics are the automotive methods that recognize personal behaviour and characteristics through face, finger prints, iris, handwriting, retinal, vain and voice.
thanks arie for the video. one thing though, i think it would be more helpful and appealing if you used some visuals, instead of just watching you talk
It has helped me better understand the topic of biometrics and its automated methods in recognizing personal, behavioural and psychological characteristics among people and how they are measurable.
There are a lot of downfalls with a technology which is that complicated...The finger prints can be read wrong, the voice can change, the eyes - a person can get lenses...then what? you have to reset the whole system.
Today biometrics are going to continue to grow because of the growing treat of hackers to our computer networks. By studying how they can be improved, we can all continue to feel safe using our beloved computers.
Biometric technologies are becoming ever more popular. Even laptops now days have finger print recognition to unlock the computer. Newer computers also have face recognition.
But really is this going to benefit us in the future? It sounds a little 1984 to me. Ever watch the movie Gattaca? In That movie they use biometrics to divide classes within society, giving some people more privileges than others using biometric methods of identifying the person.

Well done Arie!
For sure, Biometrics is definitely growing and will continue to grow. Simply an advancement in understanding human behavioral patterns.

Good job Arie,
I know understand the fundamentals of biometrics which are: measurable, physical and behavioural.
I mean, they seem common sense enough but only when someone says it! So thanks for refreshing my memory I guess I can say!

the audio is OK, but the lighting is poor [my bad], should have had Arie closer to the window - keep this in mind when you are making videos yourself
