I was a Crew Chief on F-15s and we did everything we could to keep birds away from the airfield to no avail. We had many bird strikes and let me tell you a Seagull can tear up an engine that costs several hundred thousand dollars.
2:39 - "The sounds and the smell".. I think the only 'smell' from inside the cabin after a bird strike would be numerous passengers shitting their pants.
@stevey2020 the bird stink probably got into the bleed air system of the engine, which feeds the cabin for pressurization...so it wouldn't be surprising to smell it
Looks like engines don't like birds. I'd bet birds, given a second chance, would say they don't like engines! And the drama starting at 8:40 is idiotic...
@Maxid1 Cause jet engine blades go at close to the speed of sound, and blenders don't. Try to make something that can withstand a collision at close to the speed of sound. It's not that easy.
Denmark does not acknowledge International ICAO aviation agreement

You know, there's a real load of bollox talked about bird strikes, as if ANY strike automatically disables a turbofan engine; true, a fair-sized bird will cause some disruption to airflow and might, under severe circumstances force the shutdown procedure.
For every one of these events, however, there are around ten times the number of other strike-related events that cause either temporary surges or one main event, with no further evidence of malfunction. Last clip, 9.01 on, pure Spielberg.
U suck !! Really !! Only damn thing you can present from CPH is a birdstrike from 1984... LOL !! Strong and wrong headline from a real amateur that the web is best without !!
you just would not think that a little bird can cause that much damage to a big thing like that but the force is so large it happens very often.... i say we go on "Bird Airport Shutout"
And why exactly would the Danish Government have to pay anything? CPH is a privately run airport. If pilots don't feel it's safe because of too many birds.. They shouldn't fly there!!
Anyhow, as far as I can tell, only the first birdstrike took place in CPH...
I know a guy who had a fish strike. He was departing one of the islands around Scotland (can't remember which one) in an Islander and on climb out, shocked a seagull which was carrying a fish it had caught. It dropped it and it hit the aircraft.
those birds who sucked up by airplane engines want to die. they were deppresive. We people hang our selfs up or we jump of a building , birds just stay close to an aircraft to die. Its suicide!!!!

3. I have a Danish friend and we are joking about the sound of our languages very often.
4. Your English could be improved. Well, you got time, you're only 16...
i dont get it why dont they just put some sort of filtering grill (like the ones on a car) while flying... will it prevent the fans from sucking in air?
@Anatolian90 yeah i guess it would...you'd think the money saved on not replacing engines, or whole aircraft, would out way the loss caused my increased fuel consumption
@Anatolian90 Pretty much. Airflow through an axial flow engine is hyper-sensitive to disturbance. Any sizeable disruption of flow can cause a catastrophic backflow through the engine (called a compressor stall). This is so powerful that compressor blades have been spat out the intake before.
Not only that, but an impact at speed on a protective mesh would most likely destroy it, thereby making the likely damage to the engine core even worse.
@Xyb3rTeCh - why do you think it's ok to harm the birds as if it's their fault? the animals and plants etc have nothing to do with where some types of people put their heavier-than-air backward flight technology.
sounds like a satanic ritual if they put birds in danger like that, or were the airports built later, which is still evil but probably more in a soul-less uncaring scumbag way than precisely deliberately satanic ritual way.
@NWOareScum Satanic ritual is pretty extreme, but yes, they shouldnt have put those sanctuaries there, not just the birds, but it has the potential to bring an aircraft down.
2005 I had to go Chicago and down to my uncle i were to fly with an airbus 320 am were to fly at 19:00 we were below 2000 feet and we hit a bird we could hear the pilot say what the hell happens you could end up hearing cockpit system bibibi I was really afraid we made an emergency landing at the airport I flew from: ( I was really in shock after I got off the plane
Why dont they put a giant grate on the front of the engines?! LIke a screen (not the material from a screen) Make it metal.. seems logical, still letting the maximum air flow through.
@0xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx That would seem logical, but it would minify the airflow to the impeller. You need a pure clear steady flow of air for compression to be right to burn jet fuel. The stator blades on md-80 type aircraft are scientifically precise per the airflow. So giant grates would be too cost effective and increase the risk of a compressor stall. They have thought about it before but the FAA denied the ideas countless times. The cost outweighs the risk here :/
@finalcitrus oh, thats crazy. What about parachutes on a plane. Wouldn't it be safe to have a fail safe on the back of a plane like a cargo hatch, where if something were to go extremely wrong the pilots would be able to open it and instead of life jackets and oxygen masks you actually have something that will save you. Unless your chute doesn't open lol.
@0xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx That would work in some situations, I mean it would have to be a perfectly predictable problem with a surplus of time to evac the plane. Take into consideration how long it takes to board an aircraft, Now imagine that with all the chaos of a plane falling from the sky trying to escape! I think if you maximize your idea it would be better, like a parachute for the whole plane to gently let it fall and stabalize at most 20 knots as opposed to a nosedive 800 knots lol.
@finalcitrus Lmao, you know Ive had that Idea before, I even posted it somewhere. Have a parachute that comes off each wing closer to the body to make it more stable, one in the front and one in the back. Those huge ones they use to drop tanks and what not except they would of course have to be bigger!
@0xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Haha, It would work thats for sure. Some houses would have some damage from a airliner resting upon it, but 100's of lives would be saved!
i think thats y we probley nd better helicopters so they can fly longer cause they might b alright and not cause to much damage from bird strikes or unless planes nd an addon to the engines where they nd seals to cover up the engines but keep the engine runnin and the plane keeps movin and open the seals when the birdstrike is fully ovr
