Yes i did put tape on the tires it was a BS layer tho just to get it out there but what i normally do is take duck tape first wrap it around three times to get all tread pattern gone complete flat surface then wrap once or twice with electric tape i perfer black u can do whatever or u can just leave it straight duck tape for alittle more grip and less slide that the electric tape would provide
