  • Just bought some rollers, searching for video tips yours was at the top of the list. And I'm having just the same problems! At least I'm trying it in a doorway, not in the middle of a garage filled with potentially dangerous objects ;)

  • Can you sprint in a roller? or is it dangerous?

  • When in doubt, hold your trolley.

  • the lycra isnt going to make you go faster

  • really?? you are wearing a fucking helmet??? dude grow a pair

  • Your helmet served its purpose. Premier rouleau de la stupidité de temps à vélo

  • It like riding a bike for the first time again!

  • go outside

  • hahaha looks a lot like my first time.

  • I'm sorry, but that's hilarious..... I had problems in the beginning, too, but then tried In between a doorway....that works pretty good. Now the black paint is wore off from the tires.

  • kra + burro !!!

  • why get all dressed up in a gay little outfit for this?

  • go parabolic for your first ones genius

  • @MrAlexAdamson I started with really plain, simple, clean flat rollers and had no problems

  • Vive le tacx Satori !!!

  • well at least he was good with his clipless pedals and was able to clip out fast enough to save himself but word to the wise if u are trying something new like this wear regular shoes

  • that is EXACTLY what I would do...which is why I would never buy rollers

  • dammit....i was hoping for a more spectacular crash

  • u could put the rollers inbetween a door frame so when u fall u can catch urself. the rollers are good for training proper pedaling technique. theres only 1 really good one for the roller cuz u will fall off if u dont do it right. the trainers are the safe alternative but u dont pedal like u are on a roller. but to other people i guess its what ever suits you best

  • Proof beyond any doubt that rollers are crap.

Get a proper trainer that clamps your rear wheel!

  • trainers are for wus.

I will never train on a trainer again after learning how to ride the rollers. I never had a workout on a trainer, but with rollers I have better balance, faster cadence, more power etc.etc. coming out of the winter food fest.

  • your kidding right ....

  • hahaha it's alright bro!!

  • ahhaa so funcking cool"with helmet! ahaha

  • I nearly spat my beer out watching this! Middle of room? Too much junk laying all over the injure yourself on when you fall (and you will). Steadying yourself on something that has wheels on! Use a doorway and don't clip in until you get the hang of it. Good luck and keep at it.

  • it's hard...

  • holy crap dude...lol.

  • The pedal position is wrong!!!

  • do it next to a wall not using a cart to balance yourself. start in a low gear to get moving and don't ride with your hand in the drops. is that what you do when you ride on the road getting started bc if u do your an idiot

  • ...but: why in the middle of a room????

  • I feel your pain man. =(

    Rollers are tough.

    3 tips

    RPMs

    RPMs

    RPMs

More RPMs on the highest gear does wonders for your balance and your ego.

  • :-D Great Job, you made difficult look impossible :-D lol

  • haha good effort - anyone who has used rollers can relate to that. Wait til you got it and then you'll have the "pleasure" of experiencing the 'ah this is going ok -might just do an hour or .... oh shit im close to the edge......*insert a screeching rubber noise* *insert sound of man an bike hitting deck hip first*.

    lol - good times

  • oh my god funny

  • Good save!

  • FAIL.

  • I wanted to buy it but I changed my mind - thanks for the video. 5 stars

  • I hope I didn't change your mind. Rollers are a great training tool. I still ride mine and even recently converted them to free motion rollers. I'll get a video of those in a few weeks.

BUY ROLLERS! They'll do wonders for your riding.

  • 1. grab on section of handlebar closest to stem when starting out

    2. make sure you start next to something to grab at first

  • Try riding in a door frame. Something solid to grab on both sides!

  • Lol, very frustrating

  • position it in a doorway. you can balance yourself on both sides with your ellbows.that helps a lot!

  • Hey

I mastered rollers what i was 11, last year, and what really helped was, bringing it in my living room, next to a couch.

    All i can say is

    "FASTER THE BETTER!"

Its not gonna matter how fast you go when you crash, because your not really moving, your gonna fall, but if you go faster, your wheels will go better, and you wont wobble as much. :D

    Good luck :]

  • nice wilier ;)

  • Awesome! grab something with even more wheels to steady with. Although I'll admit, I've never used rollers. Glad you posted this. I appreciate someone that can laugh at theirselves. I'm the same way. It gives me more liberty to laugh at someone else.

  • you ass.....

  • wow, shut up. You've probably never used rollers. If you have, you would understand

  • 57 mph,my top speed.he will soon get used to them but he really needs a bench to steady himself..lol...top vid tho.

  • at least you had the forethought to wear the helmet. i think i could do more damage to myself on that then on the road. :)

  • Why are you using a helmet?

  • so when he falls off and can't unclip he doesn't bust his head

  • If you're completely new to rollers, don't use your clips! Ride with a standard flat pedal so you can put your foot down if need be. Clipping in is asking for trouble! Also another good training method with rollers is to use a fixed gear bike. It keeps you momentum fluid on the roller and will help stop a jerky technique. :)

  • you should go and ride on the road!

it's funner, more challenging, and you actually get out

also, that wasn't even a slamm!

  • by tacx

  • lol @ 1:40 haha, nice vid

  • Yeah that step-ladder would have been a much better support. You probably shouldn't try rollers until you can ride on the white road line for miles without even thinking about it.

  • lol...noob

  • Everyone gets owned by their rollers the first time out. Keep at it and you'll be a God in no time.

  • Big Tip here:

When you're first starting out, put the rollers in a doorway (with even leveled surfaces on either side) so that you can easily lean on the doorway or put your hands out if needed.

And also... don't START in your drops :P

  • You just started to get into road cycling? MAN you get a nice bike, is it carbon frame?

  • Yea it's a Specialize Tarmac. Essentially an entry level full carbon bike. I've been riding it for about a year now. It works.

  • Your seat is too low.

  • just got mine today. just used regular running shoes on the first go though lol. tipsy at first but got the hang of them 15 minutes in. probably try clipless on them tomorrow.

  • well good luck in the future, even the best riders have to start somewhere, it would be interesting if you put up a vid of yourself in a year from now, just to see how much you improved...

  • Actually I got the hang of them real quick; that same night as this video in fact. I do have a video of that posted too. Check out my other posted vids.

I can ride no handed fine, but not one footed and no hands at the same time. That's good enough for me. I'm one of the better handling riders because of these.

  • they are fairly easy to get used to. i was worse than this when i first tried, after half an hour on them the next day i was getting the hang of it. might go for the one footed no hands things sometime, i'll video it and you can all see how many injuries i get..

  • i realy like that ideaaa

  • i never try that stuff... but i understud why you had the helmet! nice vid!

  • thanks for not taking yourself too seriously - the world needs more people like that - and thanks to your vid, I'll never try that with clips :)

  • Ha! You say the world needs more people willing to embarrass themselves like this, but you don't want to do it? Come onnnnn. Dooo ittttt.

  • yea do it!!

  • using clips on a roller.. hmmm not at first anyway heehee

  • omg, i thought you were going to get really hurt, glad your ok,and it didn't look that painful. i used to watch youtube vids of eddy merckx on rollers, and he would ride next to a wall in the drops.

  • lol...handtruck! seems these first-timer videos are popular...

  • They are the rage these days.

  • thats how its starts.

  • He raped a Specialized. That's sad :(

  • Hey there.. one thing I noticed is that the front roller is centered behind the front wheel. Try moving it forward.

  • Is was the rain outside?

So, how do you feel when you fall? Oh, shit, I think I scratch my bike!

    Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!

  • Gee, sorry I offended you. (?)

  • stupid

  • good thing you had your helmet on

  • wow. try using a wall and clipless shoes gl next time

  • am too busy laffin...use a wall...look ahead...not at the B/B

  • What an asshole. Learn to ride a bike first!

  • the problem is partially down to the set up - you need to make sure the front roller is in the right place, otherwise it's difficult to control - as you found. Once you get it right rollwers are better fun than fixed machines.

  • How do you like these rollers? I debating getting these or a trainer.

  • Get rollers. These one's are good enough. Trainers are too boring. You can dial up the resistance on rollers by shifting into a higher gear. Rollers will improve your balance, cadence, and form tremendously.

  • they make trainers & risers now that incorporate riding form into your workout (it will rock side to side if you don't keep your balance) but the bike is still locked in so you won't dump it.

  • thanks dude, made me lol. The first time should always be filmed, we have all done the same

  • Start in a door Jam and w/0 clipless pedals sooo much easier

  • top notch

  • looked staged, it was probably his friend's bike

  • LOL

    Nice One.....

  • I love the "cling clang" sound effects. If would've been classic if you had thrown your bike across the room and yelled "fuck this shit!"

  • This is an example of what not to do. Find a door way, a sturdy table, a counter top - anything that you can comfortably reach and be able to lean your weight on if you need support. Rollers are great, they take a lot of concentration - you have to learn how to get up and stay up first. Also, do not, do not try to watch tv while on your rollers. Music is great, TV will kill you.

  • lol ...i just waited when you fell off! The front roller wasn´t far enough, move it more in front and it will be better ...more better

  • Actually the front roller is only supposed to be a few cm in front of the front axle.

  • All the gear, no idea. First time on rollers and this guy uses clipless? To stablise himself he uses a sack-barrow? It is the gyro effect that keeps you upright, so don't stop peddling. He stops. At least he had gloves and a helmet on....doh!

  • oh yeah and learn how to track stand...rookie.

  • You can only track stand on fixed gears.

  • not true you can track stand on any bicycle it would just be good if it would be a tiny little up-hill where you try to do it and its not like you can track stand on rollers it's just as an exercise for your balance (which you don't have) it's easier on a fixie but not the only way to do it

  • learn from fixed gears

  • My experience is to just go for it! If you pedal fast and get your balance it's no problem.

  • your saddle is too low

  • old man give it up.

    sweet shorts bro.

  • hahaha...

  • old man give it up.

    sweet shorts bro.

  • the first guy was rite on the money, put the rollers in a doorway then you have both sides to grab if things go wrong. I have Krietler rollers had them for like 8 yrs no probs yet cept for the band needed replacing once.

  • The best way to learn is to set them up in a doorway and get used to them if you are about to lose it you have a wall on either side. Once you get used to them they are the best and really help with balance. I like to finish my workout goin no handed and no hand one foot. Taking your shirt off while riding is also fun to try.

  • Looked like me the first time. I found an old MTB bike and put slicks on it for my rollers. I get a work out, get to sit upright and get more resistance due to fat tires. I also don't clip in. Now I ride with no hands and can jump from one side to the other without missing a beat. See my roller movie.

  • Hey is that minoura roller any good without the mag resistance? Would you recommend those rollers to beginners? I dont care if its hard ill just practice a lot, i just need to know if its a good roller to buy.

  • nub

  • wow you just saved me money. i was actually considering buying that but now ill jus buy the stationary

  • Actually I recommend you get them. When you finally learn how to ride them they're great. They're a lot more fun than just getting on a stationary or trainer. Plus your handling improves ten fold.

  • apply the breaks before mounting on the rollers

  • *BRAKES*

  • A trick they teach the new folk at the track is to hold the center of the handlebar anytime you're worried about stability, particularly with one hand, because you have less force pushing the bars away from you (so you're more stable). So when you're first getting started with rollers, keep your hands on the top of the bars, as close to the center as possible. You do *not* need, or want, extra leverage trying to move the bars!

  • that looks hard... it seemed like a nice day, l mean you were in the garage and weren't wearing any winter clothing, better go outside...l would...

  • This was shot at night, so I wasn't going to ride outside. Besides, I needed to learn how to ride rollers to make the other video in my profile.

  • this video is the greatest. the title is hilarious, what happens is hilarious, his look is hilarious...try free motion rollers, they might be easier. also, solid try for your first time!

  • What's that orange thing on the side of the rollers?

  • It's a "step" so you can put your foot down, or stand on it to get on the rollers. Doesn't work very well in my experience...

  • Yup it's pretty useless.

  • hahaha hows the bike lol.. dude the first time u use rollers u do it in a doorway so you can lean on the wall on both sides lol..

haha and when he tried to stand up his cleats slipped on the concrete lol

  • LOL, I've never tried riding on rollers, but that is hilarious. I'll probably kill myself on my first attempt.

  • What a fanny!

  • I've never laughed so hard!!! LOL

  • Yes, doorway is the way to go. And make sure you find the right gear beforehand.

  • Ahh memories...Yea, dude, it's best to forget about the drops when you're getting started and use a doorway or at least a wall.

  • DOORWAY!

  • Hey, not too bad for a first try...

I could have sworn that that dolly would have started to roll away...

    Nice Job.

  • The best thing to do when fisrt using rollers is to use the top of the handle bars =]

  • how about start with cleaning up that pig pen you call a garage

  • nice save.

try a wall or a doorway. practice with regular shoes first to get the feel of it.

  • Given the buckets and ladders laying around, I thought this was going to be a joke.

Not too bad, try a hallway or doorway.

  • Ale kurwa pacan!!

  • Do the splits

  • It could've been much worse.

  • Not a great idea... but actually a pretty good save. Try a doorway.
