It's not so much Pythagoras as Thales. He was the first recognized Greek philosopher and it was he who proved that the angles of a triangle always add up to 180.
I might remake this film (it was the first one, just an hour or two after buying the camera, which is why the colour balance and general production is so poor) and include an explanation of the mathematics.
Steve, that's a great idea. I never would have thought of it. After seeing it though, I realize that it uses the same principle of geometry that core box planes exploit to cut a semi-circular trough with a plane whose sole and blade are made to cut a 2 sided groove with a ninety degree angle at the bottom. That same principle allows you to draw a semi-circle with 2 nails and a framing square.
Where would we by without Pythgoras? That's what it's based on Steve. 3:4:5
And it's a darn good use of the theorum.
